Raven QA Strike Ends

Following the news that the Raven QA department is forming a Union, The ABK Workers Alliance tweets that the strike they've been conducting has come to an end:
Pending the recognition of our union, the Raven QA strike has ended. Unused strike funds are being stored for future organizing/strike efforts.

We'll post or retweet any GWU updates here. Appreciate all the community support throughout the strike!

Dark Souls 3 Vulnerability Report

A pinned thread on Reddit warns of a remote code execution vulnerability in Dark Souls 3. This seems like a promotion for the Blue Sentinel security mod for the action/RPG sequel, but the accompanying posts appear to confirm legitimate concerns about the exploit, the bona fides of the poster, and the value of the mod. A recent tweet says the mod is now updated to safeguard against this: "The new Blue Sentinel update is now out which should keep your PC and your information safe." Here's the big picture:
A new remote code execution vulnerability has been discovered that is both severe in nature and easier to execute than previous ones that are patched by blue sentinel. We don't believe it's spreading beyond the person who worked on it but the level of damage it can cause is severe, any code sent can be run. Blue sentinel does not patch this vulnerability yet.

Another Steam CCU Record

The Steam Game and Player Statistics Page reflects another new concurrent user record (thanks SteamDB). This comes shortly after Steam passed 28 million simultaneous users for the first time. At that time Steam reported 28,230,661 concurrent users. The new record now stands at 29,198,370.

Warm Snow Drops

Warm Snow arrived this week on Steam, offering an action/roguelike set in a dark fantasy world. The game is garnering very positive reviews, something you can verify first-hand through the free playable demo. With the game now available, this post discusses future plans, including free content that will arrive for the upcoming Chinese New Year. Here's a Gameplay Trailer and here's more:
A strange phenomenon appeared during the 27th Year of the Longwu Era. Snow fell from the sky, which was warm rather than cold to the touch, and did not melt.

People who breathed in the 'Warm Snow' lost their minds and became monsters. This phenomenon was later known as 'Warm Snow'.

Embark on a journey as Warrior 'Bi-an' to search for the truth behind the 'Warm Snow' and put an end to the this never-ending darkness.

GNOSIA Released

GNOSIA is now available for Windows on Steam, so there's another new social deduction game among us. This one involves an imposter on a spaceship attempting to deceive the crew. And while there's more than a dash of familiarity there, the twist is that this is a single-player experience. Here's the previously released Steam Announcement Trailer, which shows some action-packed dialogue screens. Read on for more:
The crew of a drifting spaceship, facing off against a mysterious and deadly threat known as the “Gnosia” and having no idea who among them is really the enemy, formulate a desperate plan for survival. The most suspicious among them will be put into “cold sleep” one by one, in an effort to rid the ship of Gnosia.

Gnosia is a Sci-Fi Social Deduction RPG in which you will engage in discussion with a variety of unique characters, with the aim of identifying the Gnosia among the group. Players will have to use what information they can gather during the discussions to ascertain whom they think is Gnosia and then vote to put them into cold sleep. As you progress, your abilities will improve - but so will those of the crew.

Out of the Blue

Well that was certainly action-packed NFL playoff Saturday. I know a couple of time-shifters read this, so I'll mask my spoiler in stating the obvious: I had faith in Tennessee, but still thought they would prevail. And it never even occurred to me that the Packers could lose that game at home. And just like that, both number one seeds are gone? So who does that leave in the driver's seat in the NFC. Of course, Tom freakin' Brady. Wild stuff.
