Get Tomb Raider Trilogy for Free

The giveaway spree on the Epic Games Store caps off with a triple Tomb Raider release today. Everyone with a free account can head over and collect free copies of Tomb Raider: Game of the Year Edition, Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, and Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration. These freebies may cost you a little wear and tear on your mouse, as the store is currently laboring, and it took several retries to get pages to load. But the pressure of the daily giveaways is over, so you have until next Thursday at 11:00 am EDT to collect your gifts. The mysteries end here too, as next week's giveaway is revealed as Gods Will Fall. Here's a bit on each of today's freebies:
Tomb Raider is a critically acclaimed action adventure that explores the intense and gritty origin story of Lara Croft and her ascent from a young woman to a hardened survivor. Armed only with raw instincts and the ability to push beyond the limits of human endurance, Lara must fight to unravel the dark history of a forgotten island to escape its relentless hold. The Game of the Year edition includes the Tomb of the Lost Adventurer, 6 single player outfits for Lara and 4 characters.

Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration includes the base game and Season Pass featuring all-new content. Explore Croft Manor in the new “Blood Ties” story, then defend it against a zombie invasion in “Lara’s Nightmare”. Survive extreme conditions with a friend in the new online Co-Op Endurance mode, and brave the new “Extreme Survivor” difficulty. Also features an outfit and weapon inspired by Tomb Raider III, and 5 classic Lara skins. Existing DLC will challenge you to explore a new tomb that houses an ancient terror in Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, and combat waves of infected predators in Cold Darkness Awakened.

In Shadow of the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition experience the final chapter of Lara’s origin as she is forged into the Tomb Raider she is destined to be. Combining the base game, all seven DLC challenge tombs, as well as all downloadable weapons, outfits, and skills, Shadow of the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition is the ultimate way to experience Lara’s defining moment.

VALORANT Game Director Starting New Project

Riot Games announces VALORANT has a new Game Director (thanks Dot Esports). The post is from Joe Ziegler, who announces he is turning over the reins of the hero shooter to Andy Ho. Joe indicates he is staying with the company, and besides looming over Andy's shoulder, he hints he's working on a secret project:
Andy is someone who I am proud to say has put many years of his own into VALORANT, and whose personal dedication to deliver to the highest standards inspires all who work with him. He has my full faith and trust that he will continue to grow and evolve VALORANT year-over-year to become even better than what I could imagine it to be. As for me, I’ll be starting something new (*wink, secrets…) in the hopes that we can even scratch the surface of the amazing impact VALORANT has already had so far.

That said, I’ll not be far from the game and the team and they’ll always have my support. Thank you to everyone who has supported and continues to support VALORANT, and a special shout out to all who've supported me and my work. You’ve made my time as your game director a truly joyous and memorable experience.

Out of the Blue

Sorry for the late update. As I noted last night, I ended up with an early appointment that ate up most of the day. Unrelated to my broken elbow I saw the doctor, had some tests, and apparently I'm just fine. Speaking of things that are just fine, the avatar system in our forums is just fine again, after being broken for a while. It turns out the fix during the summer for the UTF-8 text bugs we had suffered from caused the system to reject uploaded avatar images. No one mentioned the problem until Ant came across it. His background in QA kicked in and after a bit of puzzling, Frans figured out the problem and fixed it. So there. If you tried to upload and avatar and failed, apologies for the problem. You can now feel free to have at it again.

Doctored up Round-up
Thanks Ant and Neutronbeam.
