BlizzCon Being Paused and Reimagined

Blizzard announces the global BlizzCon event planned for early next year is no longer taking place as previously thought. This was announced earlier this year when the cancellation of BlizzCon 2021 was revealed. This is said as a way to keep focus on supporting their teams and game development at this time. But this also says the event is being reimagined for enhanced safety and inclusiveness when it returns:
Additionally, we would also like to take the time to reimagine what a BlizzCon event of the future could look like. The first BlizzCon was held 16 years ago, and so much has changed in the time since—most notably, the multiple ways in which players and communities can come together and feel like they are a part of something bigger. Whatever the event looks like in the future, we also need to ensure that it feels as safe, welcoming, and inclusive as possible. We’re committed to continual communication with our players, and we see BlizzCon playing a big role in that going forward. We’re excited about what we’ll do with the event when we revisit it in the future.

One more thing we wanted to make clear: even though we aren’t holding BlizzConline in February, we’ll still be making announcements and updates for our games. We’re proud of our teams and the progress they’ve made across our games. We have a lot of exciting upcoming news and releases to share with you. You’ll continue hearing about those through our franchise channels, with the talented people on the BlizzCon team playing a part in supporting these efforts.

The Division 2 Major Update Pushed to Next Year

An update from The Division 2 team has the latest on Ubisoft's open-world action game. Earlier this year plans for a major update were revealed to add new content "for release late 2021 at the earliest." Turns out this will not be at the earliest, after all, as the update is now coming next year:
While plans were still being actively discussed at that point, it was critical for us to give you some early insights about what would come next for the game. Since then, we made various iterations on the plans and actively challenged ourselves not to compromise on quality and ambitions for this new content. This title Update will be one of our most ambitious to date.

We remain confident that this content will bring an exciting experience to our players and pave the way for the future of The Division 2 with future title updates coming in 2022. That being said, and to make sure we deliver this content on par with our vision, we have made the decision to move our new season, game mode and associated content release to February 2022.

Publisher Tripwire Interactive and publisher Torn Banner Studios announces a new Fight Night content update is now available for free for owners of Chivalry 2, the melee combat sequel. This is for both PC and consoles, and the Windows edition is now on the Epic Games Store. Among other things, this also kicks off the game's Halloween event. All that's new is shown off in this Launch Trailer, and here's a rundown:

    • Two Brawl Maps: Up to 40 players can join the fray in The Great Hall and Rudhelm Feast.
    • Found Objects: Players can pick up and wield just about anything they can find across the map. Embrace the chaos and grab chairs, beer steins, rolling pins, sausages, and giant fish to beat down your rivals!
  • Last Team Standing Mode: Players looking for more realistic team battles can expect the return of top-requested mode from the original Chivalry: Medieval Warfare! Stakes are high, as these 40-player battles have no respawns. The last team/person standing is crowned as the winning team.
  • Headbutt Combat: It’s only a flesh wound! Chivalry 2’s limb loss combat system sees the most brutal and outrageous update yet. Now, when a player has lost both limbs in combat, they can execute an arm-less headbutt attack for a last chance at taking down an opponent before bleeding out.

Out of the Blue

Well, it's a weather extravaganza in the US, as the east coast is being battered by a nor'easter while the west coast is dealing with a bomb cyclone. The bomb cyclone, or explosive cyclogenesis, is described as record-breaking, which is certainly scary. Hopefully everyone affected is staying safe. Though it's a little on the early side, our nor'easter (the official weather pattern of Talk Like a Pirate Day) is pretty typical of storms that hit these parts a few times a year from late autumn through winter. They can be dangerous and often morph into bomb cyclones as well. Interestingly, they are noteworthy for being particularly hard on the northeast, but that is not where they derive the name, which comes from the wind direction during the storms. Anyway, that all makes it sound more dramatic than it is for us right now, as after some thunder and lighting overnight, we're now just dealing with a steady rain. With some luck, things will turn out equally undramatic for everyone on the paths of these storms.
