Play Borderlands 3 for Free

Apologies for not noticing this sooner, but the Borderlands Website notes that a free weekend is underway in Borderlands 3 for PC and consoles. On the bright side, there's still some time to sample Gearbox's first-person shooter if you're interested, as the free period continues until tomorrow at 1:00 pm EDT. The Windows free weekend is conducted through Steam, but interestingly not on the Epic Games Store, where the game first launched as an exclusive. Here's word:
Not only can you take on the Calypso Twins and their deranged Children of the Vault cult in the main story campaign—you can also enjoy a bevy of free post-launch content that's been added to the game since its release. Enjoy crossplay on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Mac, Stadia, and PC thanks to the Crossplay Update, or try out all three seasonal events—Bloody Harvest, Broken Hearts Day, and Revenge of the Cartels—which can now be activated via the main menu!

To continue playing after the Free Play Weekend ends, purchase any edition of Borderlands 3 on the same platform (or within the same console family for consoles) and all your progress and loot will be saved so you can pick up right where you left off. This will also allow you to continue using any add-ons or items purchased for Borderlands 3 during the Free Play Weekend.

Hunt: Showdown Cold Blooded DLC Revealed

Crytek reveals new DLC plans for Hunt: Showdown, the PvPvE first-person shooter. This is really just a tease, as there's not a lot to go by just yet. The post includes an image for the Cold Blooded DLC and the following caption:
DLC Cold Blooded coming to the Bayou soon!

"When the alligators fled the Bayou, desperation and greed turned former-gator hunter Keith Cowen’s mind, the skin of his coat a testament to his persistence, his skill, and his treachery."

Rainbow Six Extraction in January

A post by Ubisoft has reportedly been updated with a release date for Rainbow Six Extraction. According to VGC the article was recently edited to add a January 20th date, which was not included when it was first posted in June. Here's word:
Rainbow Six Extraction is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, the Ubisoft Store on Windows PC, and Stadia on January 20; is included with Ubisoft+, the Ubisoft subscription service*; and will support cross-play and cross-save across all platforms. If you already own Rainbow Six Siege and purchase Rainbow Six Extraction, its entire roster of 18 Operators will be unlocked for you in Rainbow Six Siege, along with a United Front cosmetic bundle for both games.

Sunday Legal Briefs

Out of the Blue

Welp, the gremlins managed to get in and strike overnight here at the Blue Tower. When I awoke this morning I recalled there was an early NFL game in London. So I popped on the TV to see what was up while I brewed some coffee. Minutes later I looked up to see that the screen was displaying a psychedelic pattern that would have been a perfect background for a Jimi Hendrix concert. There's not a lot to check in a situation like this. I played around with the inputs and tried the old power cycle hoohah, but it seems the TV has lost the ability to translate electrical impulses into coherent images, which is basically its only job. And on a football Sunday, no less! Not to mention the season premier of Succession tonight. I'll play around with the TV a bit more to see if there's some sort of "fix picture" function I'm missing, but I'm pretty sure it's just destined for the landfill and will need to be replaced.

The Round-up Will Not Be Televised
Thanks Ant and Neutronbeam.
