BF2042 Cheaters to Receive Cross-Platform Permabans

Battlefield's Commitment to Positive Play on Answer HQ has a Battlefield Community Charter. This outlines Electronic Arts' outlook on positive and fair play in Battlefield 2042, the upcoming military shooter sequel. This includes instructions on how to report players who violate this code. As for cheaters, word is the upcoming beta and the game will utilize Easy Anti-Cheat, and that those sanctioned for cheating will be immediately and permanently banned from the game across all platforms:
In Battlefield 2042 our first approach to ensuring Fair Play is that we’ll use Easy-Anti Cheat (EAC) as our anti-cheat tool of choice. EAC already has a proven track record in identifying cheaters, such as within Apex Legends and STAR WARS™: Squadrons. It is also proven to be effective in ensuring your privacy, and security.

Another change for Battlefield 2042 is that due to cross-play functionality, when a cheater is sanctioned it will cause them to be instantly disconnected mid-match and permanently banned across all platforms. As before, we still have the ability to apply IP and hardware bans if necessary. To keep our community a fair place, we have a no tolerance rule in place. There are no warnings and no suspensions when it comes to cheating. If you don’t play by the rules, you’re out. Any actions made on your account can be appealed via EA Help.

Kalypso Founds New Studio for Tropico 7

Kalypso Media announces the formation of a new Munich-based developer called Nine Worlds Studios. This team is working on Tropico 7, a new installment in the island dictator series that's yet to be announced (unless this counts). Here's the plan:
Kalypso Media Group today officially announced that a brand-new development studio explicitly tasked with producing the PC and next-generation console sequel to the Tropico strategy series has begun its preparations to work on the well-known franchise. Nine Worlds Studios is named after the nine worlds of Norse mythology - symbolising the team's ambition to create new worlds. This symbolism is also reflected in the logo.

Thomas Schneider, previously in a similar position at Aesir Interactive, was hired to set up the studio on site and later as project manager. Nine Worlds Studios is the second Kalypso-owned studio in the tech hub of Munich, Bavaria, alongside the well-known Realmforge Studios (developer of the Dungeons series). The studios share the attractive location with many housing options and transport connections to create workflow synergies between them. The addition of Nine Worlds Studios represents the fifth development studio within the Kalypso Media group of companies.

More New World GPU Problems Reported

A new thread on Reddit revives concerns that playing New World may be resulting in damage to some high-end graphics cards. There were reports of 3090 cards dying after playing this summer's beta of the MMORPG, but most of those were eventually blamed on a specific problem with EVGA cards. PC Gamer digs into these reports, saying that while they seem credible, it has been unable to recreate the results:
In our testing Alan has noticed that when changing the graphics settings the game does go through a hard refresh, where the engine seems to want to draw the whole scene again, from low poly models, adding more and more detail from there. That seems to put a lot of strain on your system, often hitting 100% GPU load just from switching around some graphics options.

It does bear saying that we've not seen a card fall over in our experience yet, and a lot of people on the team have been playing New World out of morbid curiosity. There's also the fact that even under 100% load your GPU should be able to cope, which again speaks to potentially already existing, underlying factors in the manufacturing of the graphics cards that have actually bricked as a result of running the game.

Crimzon Clover World EXplosion Demo

Taking a page from Tommy James and the Shondells, it's Crimzon and Clover over and over, as Degica Games announces Crimzon Clover World EXplosion will arrive on Steam this December. This is the revamped version of Crimzon Clover: World Ignition, a bullet hell shooter first released in the west in 2014 (it's still available on GOG.com and Steam). This is described as the "rebalanced explosive version" of the game, which adds an "overpowered ARRANGE mode," so apparently another rebalancing will be due at some point. Getting a jump on the overcrowding of tomorrow's Steam Next Fest October Edition, there's a playable demo you can check out right now. This teaser trailer and description offer more:
As you blast through your foes in each stage you can collect stars that will raise your score. Each enemy destroyed helps fill your Break Meter, which allows you to wipe the screen with powerful bombs or, if you have the patience, blast off into Break Mode to add a huge boost to your firepower and let you rip through enemies with ease. That's not the extent of your strength though, as having a full Break Meter while in Break Mode will allow you to enter the ultimately destructive Double Break Mode. Watch your enemies crumble in fear as you turn the tide and fill the screen with your own hellacious rain of firepower!

Out of the Blue

Ridley Scott: "Gladiator 2" Is Ready To Go. I feel pretty bad about Ridley at this point. How is this supposed to work? I half expect him to announce Thelma and Louise II will be next after this.

Desktop visitors are currently being treated to a logo commemorating Unreal Tournament 2003. That title was forward looking, as the multiplayer shooter from Digital Extremes and Epic Games was actually first released on this date in 2002, making today its 19th anniversary. Thanks again to Walter "2" Costinak for first creating this logo back in 2002, and thank you to Steve for fixing it up to work properly with the tweaks to our format since then.
