Dead Space Remake Development Going Dark

An update on Reddit from the team at Motive remastering Dead Space says it will be going dark for a while as work on the game progresses (thanks Eurogamer). Word is the developer livestream was an early look: "It was important to us to give you an early look at what we’ve been working on so you could tell us your thoughts. We’ll continue reading your feedback and what your expectations are for the remake of Dead Space." Word is we should expect a more representative showing next year:
Everything we showed was a work in progress which means that we’ll be working on things like Isaac’s suit, the aesthetic and ambiance of the Ishimura. We’re doing work to ensure it has the right level of wear and tear. For example, here is an early work in progress clip showing some of the ways that the team is going to be giving that worn look to the Ishimura.

We’re going to be heads down now working on the game, taking some time to review all the thoughts, theories, and suggestions you’ve all shared with us. We look forward to showing you how you’ve helped shape the game next year when we’re further in development!

Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade Closed

A post on Steam thanks players while announcing the official closure of Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade, as Behavior Interactive's free-to-play MMO action/adventure is now offline. This is just the latest reminder not to use words implying some sort of permanence in a game's title. Word is that all personal information for players has been scrubbed for security:
As previously announced, today we have officially sunset the game. As part of the shutdown, all personal data related to Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade has been removed.

We are proud of all of the work that went into Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade, and for the amazing community that rallied behind the game. Thank you for everything, we appreciate all of your support through the years.

Out of the Blue

Well, the NFL season kicked off on Thursday, but today is opening day for most of the league, including my beloved Giants. It will be interesting to see how the Giants do this year. Like many teams, their success will probably hinge on the offensive line. Which means by current indications they may do quite poorly. But our lineman-centric GM Dave Gettleman basically stood pat on the line this summer, so it seems he's confident the existing squad will succeed. Hopefully he's right, as he's basically betting his job on it. And since there's a good chance the team will keep the coach even if they fire the GM after this season, it seems likely that another down season for the G-men will continue the chaos they've experienced since the end of the Tom Coughlin era, and nobody needs that (except fans of the other NFC East teams). Anyway, with only one game down, there's still ample time to join the Blue's News ESPN Pigskin Pick'em 2021 see if you can pick the most winners. It's free to join and just for bragging rights, so what have you got to lose?

Redfall Screenshots and Details Leak?

A post on Reddit by RagnarokTyr purports to offer screenshots and details on Redfall, the vampire-infested first-person shooter in the works at Arkane Austin. There's no explanation of where this came from, but the shots look legit. The details seem reasonable, but they are unconfirmed, and considerately marked as spoilers, so you can decide for yourself whether to head over and read them. Here's a bit on the game from its official announcement:
Announced during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, Redfall is a new co-op, open-world first-person shooter from Arkane Austin, the award-winning team behind Prey and Dishonored. Play it solo or in co-op with up to four players to face off against a legion of vampires that have overtaken the once-quaint island town of Redfall. In signature Arkane style, you will choose your path across the island and through the vampire masses as you discover what caused this plague of bloodsuckers, then put an end to the threat. Pick from a roster of heroes with unique skills and gear them up with customizable weaponry found throughout the island. Do whatever it takes to build the perfect team of vampire slayers.
