Next stop, the land of the rising sun, as new Japan DLC is now available for Railway Empire, the rail tycoon sim. The Windows edition is available through the Epic Games Store, GOG.com, and Steam. The PlayStation and Xbox editions are in their respective stores, while the Switch edition hasn't yet left the station, but will get on track eventually. A previously released trailer shows off the trains, goods, scenarios, and maps this includes. Here's why publisher Kalypso Media and developer Gaming Minds Studios hope you choo-choo-choose this:
Railway Empire - Japan transports the series to late-1800s Japan where an industrial revolution is booming and the people are crying out for a nationwide railway. After the successful restoration of the Meiji rule, the Land of the Rising Sun’s long-term ambition to develop its own modern, nationwide railway network has become a reality and people from formerly feudal regions are yearning to travel to booming metropolises. Players can lay tracks between mountains and hot springs, using foresight, planning and clever strategy to establish a railway network and facilitate the 'great commute', moving Japan into a new industrial age.

Resident Evil Village Released

Resident Evil Village is now available, offering the newest installment in Capcom's survival/horror shooter series. This can be played on PC, Stadia, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The Windows version can be purchased through Steam as a Deluxe Edition, a Resident Evil Village & Resident Evil 7 Complete Bundle, or as a Resident Evil Village Bundle. That last edition is called a bundle because the standard version of the game also includes Resident Evil Re:Verse, a multiplayer version of the game expected this summer. Here's the Launch Trailer and here's more on how it takes a village:
Resident Evil Village continues the story of Ethan Winters, set forth in the critically acclaimed Resident Evil™ 7 biohazard. Larger-than-life heroes like series veteran Chris Redfield, along with imposing adversaries like Lady Dimitrescu, are just some of the enigmatic characters Ethan encounters in order to save his daughter. In addition to an intense story campaign and robust gameplay, Resident Evil Village also welcomes back the fan-favorite The Mercenaries game mode. This extra mode is available upon finishing the campaign and has new added features, giving players additional challenges and ways to enjoy the village once they complete Ethan’s journey.

Softdisk Re-releases Plumb id Software and 3D Realms History

Ziggurat Interactive continues to re-release classic games, today offering the release of four games published by Softdisk back in the early 1990s. These are all parts of the history of 3D Realms and id Software. ScubaVenture: The Search For Pirate's Treasure, an undersea 2D platformer designed by 3D Realms co-founder George Broussard. That lists Softdisk as the developer, as does Slordax: The Unknown Enemy, a vertical space shooter created by Tom Hall, John Carmack, and Adrian "No Relation" Carmack. The other two games are In Rescue Rover and Rescue Rover 2, bundled together in the Rescue Rover Collection. These were the first games developed under the id Software brand. According to Wikipedia these are among "several games written by id to fulfil their contractual obligation to produce games for Softdisk, where the id founders had been employed." The Rescue Rover games were created by Tom Hall, John Carmack, John Romero, and Adrian Carmack. Here's more on these releases, which are on sale for one-third off for the first week:

Out of the Blue

I've been thinking it would be kind of neat to set up some sort of camera to try and catch the ducks hatching in the nest beside our porch. Does anyone have suggestions about cameras to look at? Ideally something that would withstand the outdoor weather, connect to my network via wifi, and not involve any sort of cloud connectivity. I'd just like to be able to get video of the littles when the time comes without much else. Ideas?
