Rainbow Six Parasite Technical Test Video & Specs

A video has surfaced from a Technical Test that's now underway for the project codenamed Rainbow Six Parasite, the game previously known as Rainbow Six Quarantine (thanks VGC). This probably breaks an NDA, so it may not actually stay up for long, so if you're interested, you should probably make haste. Also, Wccftech has some preliminary system specs for the test. Since they are from testing, it seems logical to think they may change:
Minimum specs (30FPS at 1080p, preset setting on Low):

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen3 1200 or Intel 15-4460
  • GPU: Radeon R9 290X 4GB or Nvidia GTX 960 4GB
  • RAM: 8GB
  • OS: Windows 10
  • Storage: 60GB

Recommended specs (60FPS at 1080p, preset setting on High):

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen5 1500X or Intel i7-4790K

Epic Raising More Cash

Though it seems like Fortnite is like a printing press for money, Sky News reports that Epic Games is close to concluding a fundraising effort for an additional billion dollars. Here are a few details:
Sky News can exclusively reveal that Epic Games, which was founded by Tim Sweeney 30 years ago, is finalising the terms of a $1bn fundraising just seven months after closing a previous round.

Epic Games' stunning new valuation will underline the extent to which it has emerged as a corporate winner from the global coronavirus crisis.

The company was valued at $17.3bn after a $1.78bn capital-raising announced last July, which included a $250m contribution from the Japanese entertainment giant Sony.

Next Battlefield Reveal in May?

During a Gamesbeat Decides LIVE Stream, Gamesbeat's Jeff Grub said it is his understanding that Electronic Arts will announce the next Battlefield in May. Here's the excerpt posted on VGC:
Battlefield 6 has been tipped for an official reveal sometime during May.

That’s according to credited news sleuth Jeff Grub of GamesBeat, who said in a live stream on Friday that he understood Electronic Arts was targeting a reveal ahead of a planned E3 digital show in June.

Asked by a viewer when the next Battlefield would be announced, Grubb replied: “May.” He added: “Things are still fluid. They haven’t announced anything publicly yet. But my understanding is that they’re probably looking at May.”

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Content Removed to Stop Crashes

A tweet from Assassin's Creed announces some content is being removed from Assassin's Creed Valhalla because it was causing crashes (thanks VGC). Word is this started after the version 1.2.0 update, and work is underway on a fix to allow the content to be replaced next week:
We're aware of increased instances of crashes in and around Ravensthorpe since the release of Title Update 1.2.0.
Our team is working on a solution that should be ready sometime next week. We thank you for your patience in the meantime.

Red Candle Teases Platformer

A tweet from Red Candle Games has some work-in-progress footage from an upcoming project. Unlike the horror game Devotion that was their last offering, this game looks like a 2D action/platformer. Thanks Eurogamer.

Sea of Thieves' Legend of Glitterbeard Dedicated to Late Rare Employee

The Legend of Glitterbeard Explained on the Sea of Thieves Website has the touching story of The Legend of Glitterbeard, new content in Rare's seafaring action/adventure dedicated to James White, a Rare employee who died last year (thanks GamesRadar+). Here's a treasure map:
As a team, we came together and looked at all the ways we could possibly look to represent and memorialise him in Sea of Thieves. As we approach the anniversary of his passing, we will be introducing the result of that work, The Legend of Glitterbeard, to the game. We hope that it captures Jim’s spirit, that of a man whose stature was only ever dwarfed by his kindness and compassion.

Now it's up to you to go out and find The Legend of Glitterbeard yourselves. We’ve shaped this one-off storyline in memory of someone we miss, placing him in the world forever as the larger-than-life Glitterbeard, selfless guide to the players who follow in his wake. Should you discover the scattered chronicles of his adventures, they – and the huge heart behind them – are something we hope you enjoy sharing with friends, family, crewmates and other voyagers you meet on the seas. Best of luck to you all, pirates.

Mage Drops Early Access

Early Access to Mage Drops is now underway on Steam, offering the chance to tee off in this "magical golf-like platformer" for Windows and macOS from developer Orchid of Redemption and publisher Lamplight Forest. This is also available on itch.io where there are playable demos for both Windows and macOS. In addition to golf, this incorporates "elements of pinball, puzzle platforming and a unique fantasy magic twist." Here's the Early Access Trailer and here's more:
Combining elements of golf and minigolf-like games with puzzle platforming and a twist of fantasy magic, Mage Drops evolves the hit-and-wait formula of golf by adding magic: shots can be influenced mid-flight and elements of the world can be influenced like pinball bumpers, flippers, moving platforms and more!

The environment itself is full of magical capabilities. Some can be used to your advantage, and some are hazards and traps: shots can cling to jelly walls, bounce off bubbles, be propelled by explosions, float on clouds, burn away obstacles with fire, gain powers by flying through magic rings, stimulate plants to grow into new platforms and much more!

Steam Swipes Left on Super Seducer 3

A tweet from Richard La Ruina says Steam is declining to carry Super Seducer 3, the upcoming third installment in the series. "Prior to this they told me expect either 'approval or feedback'. We repeatedly said we’d do whatever they needed." He includes an image of Valve's explanation, which says in part:
We have finished reviewing you latest build and we aren't going to be able to ship Super Seducer 3 on Steam. As we have mentioned previously, Steam does not ship sexually explicit images of real people. After multiple resubmissions and product reviews, we feel we are at an impasse and therefore this decision is final. We do not have any additional feedback to share beyond what we have provided in previous conversations.

Out of the Blue

Happy spring, as the vernal equinox took place this morning at 5:37 am EDT. Of course this is for those of us in the northern hemisphere, today's the beginning of autumn below the equator. Well actually in Australia, yesterday was, as it's already Sunday there. Anyway, I've been looking forward to this. I don't know that I actually suffer from seasonal affective disorder, but spring and summer make me happy.
