Rainbow Six Quarantine Now Rainbow Six Parasite?

MP1st has an image that serves as evidence that Rainbow Six Parasite is the new title for Rainbow Six Quarantine. This makes sense, as Ubisoft has already indicated that they were mulling a name change for the upcoming release out of sensitivity over the ongoing pandemic. Ubisoft has not yet commented on the discovery, which is explained thusly:
While Ubisoft has remained mum on any new details, it seems the publisher is moving forward with the game, as a file for it has been uploaded on the PlayStation Network! This file numbers the game version as 1.01, and cites it as the “Initial launch patch.”

Upon further digging, we found what seems to be an image from the file belonging to the PS4 of the dash, boot, and save data icon, and the mention of Rainbow Six Parasite, which could be Rainbow Six Quarantine’s new title! Note that Ubisoft has confirmed that it was mulling a name change and moving away from “Quarantine” given the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. Check out the images we’ve obtained below.

Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition Announced

Deep Silver and 4A Games announce the Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition will be released this spring. Their work on updating Metro Exodus for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 4 resulted in a complete overhaul of the game's ray tracing support. These enhancements are coming to the Windows edition of the first-person shooter sequel for systems with ray tracing GPUs and will be provided as a free update to owners of the original version of the game. They also take the opportunity to announce that the macOS and Linux editions of Metro Exodus will come later this year.
For PC players, we’re taking advantage of our new Fully Ray Traced Lighting Pipeline and the latest GPU-capable hardware from NVIDIA and AMD to offer the ultimate Ray Traced experience – the Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition.

This upgrade is so extensive, it will require a Ray Tracing capable GPU as the minimum spec, and we will need to deliver this version as a separate product – it is not a simple ‘patch’ to the base game – instead it will be offered as an extra entitlement to all existing Metro Exodus PC players.

The PC Enhanced Edition will offer additional Ray Tracing features, including Advanced Ray Traced Reflections and support for DLSS 2.0 on NVIDIA hardware, which offers sharper image details and increased framerates and display resolutions.

Xbox Games Web Support Nears

The Verge has a first look at Microsoft's xCloud for the web. This will allow Xbox games to be played in a browser, and will be bundled into the PC version of the Xbox app on Windows 10:
Much like how xCloud currently works on Android tablets and phones, the web version includes a simple launcher with recommendations for games, the ability to resume recently played titles, and access to all the cloud games available through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Once you launch a game it will run fullscreen, and you’ll need a controller to play Xbox games streamed through the browser.

It’s not immediately clear what resolution Microsoft is streaming games at through this web version. The software maker is using Xbox One S server blades for its existing xCloud infrastructure, so full 4K streaming won’t be supported until the backend hardware is upgraded to Xbox Series X components this year.

Microsoft is planning to bundle this web version of xCloud into the PC version of the Xbox app on Windows 10, too. The web version appears to be currently limited to Chromium browsers like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, much like Google’s Stadia service. Microsoft is planning some form of public preview of xCloud via the web in the spring, and this wider internal testing signals that the preview is getting very close.

Out of the Blue

Happy Washington's Birthday! This is the official name for today's federal holiday, so it's technically not President's Day as it's so often called. It's technically not George Washington's birthday either, as the first president of the USA was actually born on February 22nd, but today is when it's commemorated thanks to the whole Monday holiday thing. So happy birthday George... sort of.
