Lord of the Rings Gollum Delayed

Publisher NACON and developer Daedalic Entertainment are delaying the release of Lord of the Rings Gollum, their upcoming action/adventure featuring the cunning Tolkien antagonist. In the announcement that NACON is publishing the game, they now say the game will be released in 2022. It was originally announced as coming this year, and as of now the release date on the game's Steam Listing is" "Lurking until the time is right." No reason for the setback is provided. Here's word on the partnership:
The two companies decided to join forces to ensure that the game will meet the expectations of fans of The Lord of the Rings and fully leverage the power of the new generation of consoles. The universe will be faithfully represented thanks to the partnership with Middle-earth Enterprises, the company that holds the adaptation rights to the novel series by J.R.R. Tolkien.

Deep Rock Galactic Tops 2M Sales

A new post from Ghost Ship Games has another sales success story, announcing that Deep Rock Galactic has sold over two million copies since launching into Early Access on Steam just under three years ago. They admit this is ten times as many copies as they would have considered to be a success for the co-op first-person shooter:
Before we launched into Early Access, we reached an internal agreement that 200.000 units sold during the game's lifetime would be suitable, and would allow us to continue and do a new game. But now we just crossed 2 MILLION units sold, and the game is performing stronger than ever - not only in sales, but also in the strength of the community. When reading a random thread on gaming and suddenly one user comments "Rock and Stone", causing the whole thread to explode in rock-and-stone shouts, then you know you've created something extraordinary and transcending. And the "we" does not only mean us developers, but also very much you, the community around Deep Rock Galactic. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you!

Dead Cells Fatal Falls Released

Fatal Falls is now available for PC and consoles, offering new DLC for Dead Cells, Motion Twin's metroidvania action/platformer. This is the 22nd update for the game, but only its second paid DLC. The Windows, macOS, and Linux edition of the pack is available on and Steam and the base game is on sale on and Steam for half-off. Here's an Animated Trailer to celebrate the release and here's a description:
The Fatal Falls DLC introduces a significant amount of new content for fans including two new mid-game biomes, a killer new boss and a slew of new weapons and items. The two new biomes are parallels to the ‘Stilt Village’, ‘Clock Tower’ and ‘Time Keeper’ areas and are intended as alternate paths to spice up your mid-game runs.

Along the new paths fans can expect to encounter a cute but deadly pet sword and deranged enemies like the Myopic Crow, the Clumsy Swordsman, the Compulsive Gravedigger and a lot more (eight total) culminating with the final boss, The Scarecrow.

And what’s an update without new weapons? Fatal Falls’ new maniacal sword (did we mention it flies?) is designed to bring Brutality players a real counterpart to the Great Owl and Mushroom Boi. Sickles, undoubtedly one of the more iconic weapons in existence, have also been added - they are attracted to enemies and will follow you around a bit. Seven new weapons in total have arrived: Lightning Rods, Ferryman’s Lantern, Scarecrow’s Sickles, Iron Staff, Snake Fangs, Serenade and Cocoon. Each one will help you in different areas of the two new biomes. And because we want you to feel good AND look good, a total of 10 new outfits have also been added to the update.

Snowtopia: Ski Resort Tycoon Early Access

Early Access to Snowtopia: Ski Resort Tycoon is now underway on Steam, offering the chance to be a ski mogul in this Windows simulation that puts you in charge of your own winter resort. Here's the Early Access Release Trailer and here are the details:
Snowtopia makes resort building accessible and fun for all. There’s no money in the game, creating a new twist on the genre where resources are managed differently and the focus is squarely on skier satisfaction. The game’s snappy creation tool lets you drop pistes easily on the mountain side and add the right kind of ski lift for the terrain, while keeping an eye on the queues of impatient ski nuts of course.

Running a successful resort brings more skiers of all kinds to sample the slopes, terraces and tartiflette, so make sure you’re ready for them. Fix broken lifts, groom the pistes and run enough ski patrols to keep your visitors safe. Happy skiers will show their appreciation by joining the volunteers running the resort, making sure everything on the mountain stays in perfect shape.

During Early Access an avalanche of new features will be added to the game, including, yes, avalanches, plus dynamic weather, snow cannons, ski schools, more buildings, and new staff models. Modding is also planned for the coming months, so players can customize their dream ski resort down to the last icy detail.

We have been allowed to make our own digital Bond, which will not lean on a Bond actor. We are also making a completely original story, and you could easily imagine that a trilogy could come out of it, says IO Interactive's director, Hakan Abrak.

ENCODYA Released

ENCODYA is now available on and Steam, offering a point-and-click adventure for Windows, macOS, and Linux. This is set in the year 2062 in the city of Neo Berlin starring a nine year-old girl named Tina and her giant robot SAM-53, whose bond of friendship is shown off in the Release Trailer. "It’s been a long journey with plenty of blood, sweat, and tears to get Encodya into the hands of players," says Nicola Piovesan, Founder of developer Chaosmonger Studio. "We here at Chaosmonger poured our hearts and souls into this project and can’t wait to see people join Tina and SAM-53 on their quest to save Neo Berlin." Here's more:
Encodya follows in the footsteps of beloved titles like Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle, but with a hefty dose of dystopian cyberpunk stylings. Join the plucky ragamuffin Tina and her best pal, an imposing mass of metal and wiring named SAM-53, as they navigate the gritty streets of Neo-Berlin. Tina and SAM-53 must use their wits to help fix a society where mankind has become hopelessly addicted to the technology that allows them to ignore the plight of their city and waste their days in a virtual world.

Encodya has been painstakingly and lovingly crafted from the ground up, including a completely original soundtrack — right down to the ad jingles found across Neo-Berlin — along with 35 unique and distinctive NPCs and a whopping 4,000+ lines of dialogue. A cute and colorful art design with a hint of something more sinister reflects the progress, or lack thereof, of a city under siege from rampant capitalism and an overreliance on technology. Explore a beautifully realized world, solve puzzles, and help Tina and SAM-53 bring life and love back into the city they call home.

King Arthur: Knight's Tale Early Access

Early Access is underway on Steam for King Arthur: Knight's Tale, allowing us to draw the sword from the stone one more time. This take on the Arthurian legend is a tactical turn-based RPG which got its start through a Kickstarter campaign from NeocoreGames, who have made something of a specialty of King Arthur games over the years. Here's the game's Cinematic Intro and more on what they're doing with the theme this time around:
KING ARTHUR: KNIGHT'S TALE is a unique hybrid between turn-based tactical games and traditional, character-centric RPGs. Knight's Tale is a modern retelling of a classic Arthurian mythology story filtered through dark fantasy tropes, a twist on the traditional tales of chivalry.

KING ARTHUR: KNIGHT'S TALE's Early Access version features the very beginning of the campaign, including two story missions and several side missions, seven playable heroes from four different classes, a level cap of 5 and some of the Camelot management mechanics. A lot more is coming in the final version.
Early Access allows us to work hand in hand with our players and implement changes to the game as we go, based on the feedback we receive from the community. The Early Access period will last for a few months, with regular content updates, followed by the full release on PC in 2021 and later on PS5 and Xbox Series S / X.

Open Sorcery: Sea++ is now available for Windows, macOS, and Linux on Steam, offering a text-based puzzle/adventure with the punniest title we've seen in a while. This is the follow-up to the original Open Sorcery, which came to Steam in 2017. Abigail Corfman and publisher Open Sorcery Games supply this trailer to help process what this is all about, and we've compiled the following details:

You wake up at the bottom of the ocean, surrounded by your broken memories. You can interact with a variety of strange beings, like the wreckage-hording Packet Rat and a polyamorous triad of ghosts haunting the seabed. Items and spells can be cleverly used to accrue power as you navigate 19 challenging worlds and travel back to your body. Sail the ocean beneath our world on currents of emotion.

Open Sorcery: Sea++ was produced by Abigail Corfman, a freelance writer, game designer and software engineer. The game is challenging - the perfect companion to old-school fans of the genre. With its superb fiction and intuitive interface, the game offers a nostalgic trip down memory lane when your imagination was the key to the best of games.

Morning Crowdfunding

  • The Dream - a game about adventure and curious puzzles by Tanja Leonova.
"The Dream is a first-person puzzle and adventure game. It's quite simple - everything you need to do is just walk around and enjoy yourself! Both day and night. Out of the Blue

I'm happy to say that the tendinitis in my wrist and forearm has been gradually improving. I still take care to wear my wrist support and tennis elbow brace while gaming, but I find I am able to do normal typing on the computer without them, and do not seem to be any worse for wear. I could probably try to game without them as well, but they're not too much of an impediment, and I don't think I want to risk a setback for no particular reason.

Braced Round-up
Thanks Ant and Neutronbeam.
