Super Meat Boy Forever

Diamonds are forever, and apparently so is Super Meat Boy, as Team Meat is gearing up to announce release plans for Super Meat Boy Forever. What’s better than playing through Super Meat Boy Forever once? The answer is simple: Playing through Super Meat Boy Forever several times and having new levels to play each time! Levels are randomly generated and each time the game is completed the option to replay the game appears and generates a whole new experience for players by presenting different levels with their own unique secret locations. We’ve handcrafted literally thousands of levels for players to enjoy and conquer. You can replay Super Meat Boy Forever from start to finish several times before ever seeing a duplicate level. Google Antitrust Suit

US Justice Department and 11 states have filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google, which BBC News notes is "the biggest challenge brought by US regulators against a major tech company in years." Here's word on this sudden recollection that there are regulations in this country to prevent monopolies:
The charges, filed in federal court, were brought by the US Department of Justice and 11 other states. The lawsuit focuses on the billions of dollars Google pays each year to ensure its search engine is installed as the default option on browsers and devices such as mobile phones.

Officials said those deals have helped secure Google's place as the "gatekeeper" to the internet, owning or controlling the channels for about 80% of search queries in the US.

"Google has thus foreclosed competition for internet search," the lawsuit said. "General search engine competitors are denied vital distribution, scale, and product recognition - ensuring they have no real chance to challenge Google."

It added: "Google is so dominant that 'Google' is not only a noun to identify the company and the Google search engine but also a verb that means to search the internet."

GabeN Applying for New Zealand Visa

TVNZ follows up on the rumor that Gabe Newell was looking into moving some game development to New Zealand (thanks PCGamesN). They debunk the idea that there were any such plans in the works, "Valve does not currently have plans to open an office in New Zealand, which isn't to say that it would be a bad idea," Newell tells them. "It's just not something we are working on." However, they do indicate Gabe has plans to put the Newell in New Zealand, as he has applied for a visa to remain in the country he ended up stranded in after the COVID-19 crisis broke out. They do not know what sort of visa this is but note that if he moved there, he'd be one of the country's wealthiest citizens, estimating his fortune at NZ$6 billion (about USD$4 billion). But in the unlikely event Gabe did actually renounce his US citizenship, that wealth would take a big hit, as the exit tax in this county is 23.8%.

Battle Hunters Delayed

The hunt for Battle Hunters will have to continue a bit longer, as although it was planned for release today, the fantasy RPG has suffered a setback, and is now expected for Windows and Switch on November 5th. At least for now, as Phase Two Games calls this the game's "tentative" release date:
Independent developer Phase Two Games today announced that their squad-based fantasy adventure RPG Battle Hunters is now moving to a slightly later launch date. The new tentative street date for PC and Nintendo Switch is November 5th.

“The old adage that time waits for no man is certainly true in our case, we wanted to synchronize the final submission phase and release efforts and felt we needed a little more time to coordinate that,” said Toby Charlton, Co-Founder of Phase Two Games.

With a more strategic approach to combat through a combination of turn-based and real-time action, Battle Hunters gives players the opportunity to build a uniquely skilled team of 3 adventurers ready for action. With a roster of 28 unique hero characters to discover and choose from, including the Wizard, the Barbarian, the Rogue or the cursed Dreadknight - Battle Hunters provides a huge variety of choice when deciding who to bring to the fight.

Out of the Blue

MrsBlue and I are onto a new binge watch. We recently finished our catch up with Succession. We'd heard great things about the HBO drama, and it did not disappoint. We tend to be more behind the curve than this, as this one only has two seasons. So it was not much of a binge, but we are certainly left wanting more. Much more typical of us, we now are finally catching up with Grace and Frankie, the Netflix ensemble comedy starring Jane Fonda and Lilly Tomlin. We're getting near the end, and are a little disappointed that what started out as a story of the empowerment of older people is veering a bit towards being about how old people can't do simple things (similar to my feeling about how the Big Bang Theory evolved into making fun of the geeks it was supposed to celebrate). But that complaint aside, it's still very funny, and more than entertaining enough to keep us hooked, so we'll be seeing this through to the end.

James Redford, filmmaker and son of Robert Redford, dies at 58.

Bingeworthy Round-up
