Borderlands 3 New DLC and Next-Gen Updates Detailed

The Borderlands Website has the news that Borderlands 3 is coming to the new generation of console systems. They are adding split-screen co-op support to the console versions which will come to the current-gen systems as a free update. Also, owners of the current console versions will get a free upgrade to the next-gen version in the same console family and all their progress will carry over. Gearbox also reveals plans for a new DLC that will bring an additional skill tree for each vault hunter when it's released later this year. Here's a look at The Gearbox Digital Showcase at PAX Online 2020 and here's an outline a little of what to expect for FL4K in the new DLC:
We got a first look at FL4K the Beastmaster's new Trapper Skill Tree, which features the powerful Gravity Snare Action Skill and a lovable line of Hyperion Loaderbots as a new pet type. Putting skill points into the Trapper Skill Tree will greatly increase shields and survivability for both FL4K and their pet, while the Gravity Snare Action Skill grants FL4K an effective means of crowd control. When thrown, the Gravity Snare will periodically toss nearby enemies into the air and slam them into the ground, interrupting their attack animations in the process and making it easier to isolate and eliminate your targets.

As for the robotic additions to FL4K's pet posse, the Hyperion Loaderbot comes in three varieties. There’s the ranged ION Loader, which fires slow-moving projectiles that can be shot to create powerful shock novas; the melee BUL Loader, which charges enemies and knocks them into the air with its shield (or just roundhouse kicks them); and the WAR Loader, which packs an incendiary shotgun, can toss grenades, and unleashes homing missiles on command.

Out of the Blue

Still getting used to the fact that the NFL is playing in this disorienting year. To the extent that MrsBlue and I ran some errands this morning and I forgot to make my pool picks for the early slate of games. It's going to make winning the pool that much sweeter now that I've given everyone a headstart. Yeah, that's the ticket!

Get Death Rally (Classic) For Free

Remedy Entertainment announces that they are celebrating their 25th anniversary by making their debut game permanently free. You can now pick up Death Rally (Classic) for Windows and macOS on Steam for nothing. Here's a refresher on this top-down battle racing game first released in 1996:
Prepare to be blown away, literally. Race for the finish line, leaving a trail of burnt rubber and spent brass behind you… along with the flaming wreckage of anyone reckless enough to get in your way.
Pick up more ammo and turbo from the side of the track, and floor the pedal while performing some shady deals for The Dealer. No trick is too dirty when you're preparing for The Final Confrontation. Only the hardest armor, the most powerful engine and the biggest guns will see you through the ultimate battle against The Adversary.

And when you feel you can't take it anymore, you can check out the underground market. Spiked bumpers, landmines, rocket fuel or sabotage can provide a way to create some nasty accidents for the competition.

Play alone or with friends! Death Rally supports network multiplayer for up to 4 players and serial or modem connection for two players.

Extreme Rise of the Triad Release Date Question

3D Realms webmaster Joe Siegler asked me a question about the release date for Extreme Rise of the Triad, a retail add-on for ROTT that was released sometime in late 1995. He's filling in some details about their database, and was hoping the exact release date could be found here. Unfortunately a lot of old stories were deleted here as new ones were added back in those days before we worked out a system for archiving older news. This is not to mention the site's original laser focus on Quake. Anyway, it seemed unlikely this would provide an answer, but he's run out of other avenues, so I volunteered to ask if any of you might know when the game came out. To be clear, he's not looking for guesses or vague recollections, but a definitive answer to when this came out. This tweet and this follow-up tweet explain the puzzle:
Does anyone have any true, verifiable info as to the PRECISE release date for Extreme @RiseOfTheTriad? The date on the files on the original disc are 1 Nov, 1995, but I can't tell if that is release date.

It's *NOT* 17 Feb 95 - that's what Google says. That's ROTT Reg date

I can't remember if I set the files on the disc to Nov 1, 1995 intentionally because that was the release date, or if that was the mastering date. Setting it for proj release date sounds like something I'd do, but I can't remember for sure if that's what's happening here.

If you happen to have proof of the real honest to god date, plz let me know, but have some proof. Don't say you "think" you know what it is, have some proof, like a retail flyer, or some old store inventory, or a magazine article. Tkx.

Update on this. The 1 Nov 1995 dates on the disc is the mastering date. Someone found the metadata on an EROTT CD shows it was physically printed on 6 Nov 1995, so my date is mastering date for sure.

The Extreme @RiseoftheTriad release date is still elusive. Search goes on.
