They also mentioned a planned Fortnite cross-promotion and revealed that Hawkeye will be coming to the game as free post-release DLC and here's a Hawkeye Reveal Trailer. Viewers who watched the Marvel’s Avengers WAR TABLE live via the PlayAvengers.com channel were the first to get all the amazing details about the wide array of content that will be available in the beta, including several single-player missions, as well as a large selection of additional missions that can be played solo with your AI Avengers team or co-op with up to four players. In one mission, players take on the role of young Super Hero Kamala Khan and team up with Hulk as they infiltrate an AIM base in the forests of the American Pacific Northwest, hot on the trail of the last known location of JARVIS. Star Citizen/Squadron 42 and Roadmap Update

The Robert's Space Industries Website now offers a lengthy post discussing the development status of Star Citizen and Squadron 42, the space games that CIG has crowdfunded to the tune of over $300 million. They offer a recap of a video that they planned on releasing for backers that is delayed due to, yup, feature creep. Likewise, they are having trouble getting their promised updated roadmap out the door:
The new Roadmap is something we hinted at in March but because that is still very much in development, we can’t share as much about it as I would like. Believe me when I say I’m personally very eager to release it to you. We took the time to explore options for how we could better represent our progress, and I believe we are getting close to landing in a pretty great spot. Our goal with this new Roadmap is to give you better visibility into what teams are working on, share the progress of more teams, and go so far as to indicate the size of the projects for our tech, features, and content teams. This new Roadmap will drastically change how you follow the development progress for both Squadron 42 and Star Citizen. The new Roadmap will focus more on breaking out teams and features so you can interactively see what is being worked on across all teams, as opposed to what features will make X release. While it’s not quite ready, it’s currently top priority on the web team’s current projects. In the immediate future, we plan to deliver the following communications:

  1. Give an explanation of the goals of our new Roadmap and what to expect from it
  2. Show a rough mockup of the proposed new Roadmap
  3. Share a work in progress version of the Roadmap for at least one of our core teams
  4. And then finally transition to this new Roadmap

We’ll approach them in the order above, and we’ll likely need a few weeks between steps, so I don’t want to create the impression that this is happening overnight. But we should be announcing step 1 pretty soon if my meeting on Thursday about this is as good as I think it will be.

New Dead by Daylight Content

Behaviour Interactive now offers a new Archive called Conviction for Dead by Daylight, which adds new content to the 1v4 multiplayer horror game. This page has the details on the release along with this reveal trailer. They say to expect the game to go on sale soon to celebrate the occasion. Here's what to expect:
This Archive, named CONVICTION allows players to unlock memories from Meg Thomas, The Wraith, The Hag and Ace Visconti. It also features new story-related outfits and charms for these characters. A 30% sale on main characters Ace Visconti and The Hag between July 29th and August 5th will take place to celebrate the release of the Tome.

The Archives aim to deepen the Dead by Daylight experience by delivering fun and exciting content into the Fog. Players discover the secrets of The Entity and The Observer through a new Tome and time-limited Rift every Mid-Chapter. Fans are called upon to complete new Master Challenges to progress further through the Tome and its respective Rift. Every Tome is separated into several Levels, each containing a fresh layout for the Observer’s Auris Web with more Challenges, Lore Entries, Bloodpoints, and Rift Fragments.

As part of the Rift, two reward tracks are made available to players. The Free track includes outfits from the Treacherous Waters Collection for the Doctor and David King. The Premium track gives players access to some unique outfits for featured characters as well as an exclusive outfit from the Greek Legends Collection, a brand new addition to the in-game store.

Evening Patches

Op Ed

  • GamesIndustry.biz - We don't need E3 anymore.
"In fact, when comparing press coverage of further games revealed during last year's E3 with those announced during this year's summer, the result again shows that 2020's efforts have proven very fruitful. Taking that larger sample of titles, the average number of articles received in the first 72 hours from their announcement at E3 2019 per game is slightly down by 5% than games announced as part of an online event during this summer. It's also over a fifth lower than games announced without the use of one at all."
  • SuperData - AAA publishers are doing just fine without E3.
"Big publishers don’t need E3 if they can generate hype through the promise of big announcements or other incentives to watch, but not all game makers can rely on this strategy. For example, the PC Gaming Show, which focuses mainly on a wide range of indie to midsize games, experienced lower live viewership on its official stream in 2020 than in 2019. Without the likelihood of headline-grabbing announcements, some viewers may not have felt it was worth tuning in when the event wasn’t already part of wall-to-wall E3 press conferences."

Halo: Infinite Criticism Response

Dan Chosich tweets a response to the vocal criticism to the recent unveiling of gameplay for Halo: Infinite (thanks VGC). The Narrative Experience Director on 343 Industries' upcoming shooter sequel promises the irate mob that their feedback is "not falling on deaf ears." Here's the tweet:
I’ve been in your shoes. I know what it's like to have expectations built + feel let down. I want you to know your voice matters + is heard. You're not falling on deaf ears. I always want to live up to the legacy that Bungie pioneered. I personally care a lot about honoring that.

BPM: BULLETS PER MINUTE in September

Awe Interactive announces BPM: BULLETS PER MINUTE is planned for release on September 15th on Steam. It's not a surprise from the title that this is a shooter, though this carries an unusual description, as they call it "a a rhythm-action FPS rogue-like." Here's an Official Release Date Trailer showing a off gameplay reminiscent of QUAKE and music they say "takes inspiration from the likes of Wagner, Muse and Audioslave," though it's noticeably evocative of Bobby Prince's original DOOM soundtrack. Here's more on the game:
BPM: Bullets Per Minute delivers a total of seven bosses players have to topple in order to reach the final boss, collecting an assortment of weapons, abilities, and items as they go, ensuring every playthrough has a unique feel.

All the action plays out to the beat of a barnstorming soundtrack, which takes inspiration from the likes of Wagner, Muse and Audioslave. Every pulse is tied to the in-game action, with the structure of BPM: Bullets Per Minute’s audio pulling everything together to make one cohesive world.

In short, if Brian May were to play games, he’d play BPM: Bullets Per Minute.

Bus Simulator 18 Mercedes-Benz Bus Pack

Oh Lord, won't you buy me, a Mercedes-Benz? No? Okay, how about a Mercedes-Benz Bus Pack 1, the new DLC that's now available for Bus Simulator 18? This now available on Steam for Bus Simulator 18 for Windows, as well as on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 where the game is known simply as Bus Simulator. As the name shows, this offers three new buses from the German luxury brand, for those who want to feel snobby while riding the bus. Out of the Blue

The 2020 Emmy award nominations are now live. As opposed to the Oscars every year, this involves some things I've actually seen. The Watchmen was an impressive show and received an impressive number of nominations. I'm also very pleased to see recognition for a couple of series that we've just recently finally caught onto, Schitt's Creek and Ozark. Those definitely get the binge-streaming Emmies from me and MrsBlue for best comedy and best drama. But all-in-all if I had to vote for those categories I think I'd have to go with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Better Call Saul. In fairness, though, I have not seen all the nominees by a long shot.

Nominated Round-up
Thanks Ant and Neutronbeam.
