New World Delayed

Perhaps in reaction to the scalding they took on Crucible, The New World Website has word from Amazon Game Studios saying the release of New World is being delayed again. In April they announced the release of the upcoming MMORPG was being pushed back to August 25th, but now they say it will not be coming out until Spring of next year:
As a result, we will be changing our launch date - and correspondingly, our final beta test - to spring 2021. We don't make the decision lightly, and we have urgency about getting the game to you as quickly as possible at the best quality -- with some additions that will make the experience even better.

We’re passionate about the game we’ve been making and want to add more features and content before we share it with a wider audience. As a thank you to our community, we will be providing a special opportunity for our Beta sign-up and pre-order customers (plus our Alpha testers, thank you!) to play the full game of New World - in its current state, for a limited period of time starting on August 25th. We will send an email directly to those customers detailing the process to participate. We’re confident that you’ll feel that the game has as much promise as we do, and will understand why we want to take the extra time to make this experience the best it can be at release.

Rocket Arena Season One This Month

Rocket Arena is due for release next week on July 14th, and today EA and Final Strike announce that season one will kick off in their hero shooter just two weeks after that on July 28th. This post has details on the season and the Live Service they say is at the core of the game's design. They accompany this with a new Heroes of Crater Trailer and a World of Crater from a couple of days ago. Here's word:
Starting July 28, Season 1 will follow our heroes as they take part in the famous Rocket Arena Championship Tour. Previous champions and new competitors alike will battle it out across the World of Crater. Each of the heroes have their own personal motivations to win the Tour Trophy, their drive reflects on their personality, backstory, and passions. Jayto won last year’s tournament on an ‘accidental rocket’, so he hopes to prove himself while his home region, Boom City, hosts the opening ceremonies of the Season 1 tour.

This summer, Season 1 takes the Championship Tour to new lands introducing our first major in-game event, which will bring new maps, and daily and weekly challenges. Over 10 new playlists will be introduced, representing Rocket Arena’s Social, PVE, and Ranked Modes. Season 1’s final major event will launch this fall and again you’ll see the same level of new content introduced to Rocket Arena as in the first event.

Twitch Call of Duty Content Drops

The Activision Blog has word on how Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone players can earn drops by watching streams of the military shooter on Twitch. You'll have the chance to get the Censory Overload spray, a Love the Bomb emblem, and a Bloodstream assault rifle weapon blueprint. Here's all you have to do once you've linked your Call of Duty and Twitch accounts:
Then, you’ll need to head to Twitch and get a look at the streamers who are playing Modern Warfare including Warzone in the Modern Warfare category. On drop eligible streams you’ll see a callout that “drops are enabled”, so you know you are officially watching and earning. From there, click the stream and enjoy the gameplay.

You can watch multiple streamers or one stream but as long as they are “drop eligible” your total watch time will be tallied up, so you can earn rewards.

Steam News Hub Changes

Updated Navigation
Some of the biggest changes in this update address how the News Hub is organized and how you navigate around. The menu on the left (which was previously a long list of checkboxes) now focuses on switching between major preset views and gives us space to add more preset views in the future. The filters for excluding certain types of events or certain sources has moved into a secondary menu. The left bar still includes a game search field for quickly finding news about a specific game.

Upcoming Events Get A Dedicated Section
To make it easier to find and follow upcoming events, these events now have their own separate view, which you may access through a streamlined menu on the left. Your default view still includes a few upcoming items at the top to keep you informed of events for your favorite games.

Modest Hero Next Week

Modest Hero is an indie action/adventure game that's launching on Steam on July 14th. That's Bastille Day, an appropriate occasion to debut this game set in 19th century Paris. This tweet shows off the game's art style, which looks like it may draw some inspiration from the works of Charles Addams. Here's word on this hero's journey:
"Modest Hero" is a game about the last journey of a modest man. Captured by the soldiers and dragged to the end waiting for him, Victor realizes that he is living the final moments of his life and remembers how he fell to that situation.

In Victor's memories, a man named Alexandre appears. He was the one who encouraged and guided Victor in the uprisings that began in Paris in 1830. Victor and Alexandre testify to the fire and violence of social events and early class conflicts in 19th century France in those days.

The 2D action-adventure genre game begins in June 1848 in the streets of a gloomy city after a fierce civil war. In Paris. While Victor and his six captive friends are going to the place where they stand trial, they are carrying grief, anger, and a little bit of hope.

Out of the Blue

I'm really mad at myself over a near-miss accident in the kitchen yesterday. While slicing an apple on the mandoline I managed to skin the tip of my thumb. This was about the perfect amount to remove to cause a red spot without actually causing any actual bleeding. It doesn't hurt, though the spot is sensitive. So I'm very lucky. The reason I'm so mad is because I think mandoline accidents are the result of carelessness, and I always thought I was above them. This shows the dangers of complacence, and I feel extremely lucky the slicer chose to give me a warning shot before slicing off the tip of my thumb. There's never a good time to do something like that, but the last thing anyone needs during a pandemic is someone taking up time and space in the emergency room due to carelessness.
