Horizon Zero Dawn Regional Price Spikes

The price of preordering the PC edition of Horizon Zero Dawn on Steam has gone up in many regions, in some cases quite dramatically. VG247 points to a Reddit thread highlighting the situation, which notes that the game is now cheaper on the Epic Games Store than on Steam for most users. This is explained as a reaction to so many customers using VPNs to take advantage of lower regional pricing in some areas. A couple of the most extreme examples are a 389% increase in Argentina and a 357% increase in Turkey. SteamDB has the price history for the game.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Video Leak

A video for Assassin's Creed Valhalla has leaked online, showing off 30 minutes of gameplay from the upcoming Viking-themed installment in the series. Eurogamer.net notes that Ubisoft is scrambling to get this toothpaste off of the YouTube and back in the tube. They also unsympathetically post a couple of links where it can be viewed while explaining why Ubi may not be happy about this: "Though the footage posted is quite low-resolution, there are various visual bugs present. Overall, it has received a mixed response from fans after the showy reveal trailers released officially so far."

Morning Patches

Out of the Blue

I'm saddened this morning to see that film score composer Ennio Morricone has died. He was 91, unarguably one of those good runs, but this was unfortunately due to complications from a fall. He is one of my all-time favorites, so this brings a pang. I especially love his collaborations with Sergio Leone, and his score for The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is truly iconic. That is one of my all-time favorites, and his hyper-sentimental score for Once Upon a Time in the West is one of the reasons it's probably in my top five. R.I.P. Maestro!
