OBEY Released

The Lo-Fi Apocalypse announces the conclusion of Early Access for OBEY with the release of version 1.0 of this asymmetrical multiplayer game. Here's the Official Game Trailer which was first released almost exactly five years ago, and this post has details on the launch and an upcoming tournament. For more, read on and obey:
We've all played games where you send commands to AI units or teammates.
OBEY instead puts you in the position to command your enemies (human opponents), and to be commanded by them. Players are always free to obey/disobey. It is always up to players to deal with the consequences of their decisions in the game.

You win by bribing and coercing your opponents to do things against their own self interest (and in your interest).
If you are being coerced you have only stealth, intelligence, trickery, and creativity to escape.

OBEY is sort of like Counter Strike Jailbreak Mod meets Spy Party.

These skateboarding games will be completely remastered for modern systems, so don't expect the same old grind. The news is explained in a Summer Game Fest video showing off gameplay and concluding with the Epic Games Store logo along with the logos for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. These skaters all come with their own Special Moves – from Geoff Rowley’s Darkside Grind to Tony Hawk’s legendary 900 – and have learned a few new tricks over the past two decades, including the Revert, Lip Tricks, and the Wall Plant, allowing you to pull off incredible combos like never before.

Riot Bans Over 8K VALORANT Cheaters

A tweet from Phillip Koskinas has word from Riot Games' anti-cheat czar that over 8800 VALORANT cheaters have received their smiting by the banhammer (thanks The Loadout). It's not clear if this is in spite of, or thanks to Vanguard, the game's controversial anti-cheat program. Here's word from this cheeky monkey:
located a VALORANT universe where there were 8873 less cheaters and moved us all into it, please be careful as your bones may've shifted during dimensional travel

Get Dutch to Da Choppa in Predator: Hunting Grounds This Month

The PlayStation.Blog has details on plans to bring Arnold Schwarzenegger's "Dutch" character to Predator: Hunting Grounds through a free update and some paid DLC for the movie-based shooter on May 26th. Here's word:
In order to make Predator: Hunting Grounds the game we envisioned it to be, it had to include Dutch’s story and bringing him back into the universe. We have created two different items for the community in order to do this. The first is a free update, available for all players who own the game. Players will be able to learn where Dutch has been all these years and hear his story in his own words through a series of voice tapes that you earn as you level up.

The second is a Paid DLC pack where you can play as Dutch and get early access to the QR5 “Hammerhead” Rifle and Dutch’s Knife! (available free for all players later in June) Getting the future Dutch just right was so exciting for the entire team. Creating the details, working with our partners to make certain everything fit together perfectly in the universe, and of course working with the legend himself has been a dream come true. We cannot wait until you can get access to both the free update and the paid DLC on May 26!

CYGNI: All Guns Blazing Announced

Keelworks announces CYGNI: All Guns Blazing, a twin-stick shooter that will transport you to bullet hell on Steam as well as consoles. You can see the game in intense action in the Announcement Trailer. This starts off paradoxically serenely (and paradoxically using an aircraft carrier-style ship to launch spacecraft) before the shooting starts, which is suitably chaotic. Here's an explanation of why the cinematics are so impressive: "CYGNI is the work of just two highly talented and entirely self-taught developers who previously worked as Hollywood film and VFX production artists including stints at Pixar. Their impressive work with Unreal Engine soon got noticed by Epic Games and earned Keelworks a substantial cash award as an Epic MegaGrant recipient." Here's more on the game:
An unrelenting onslaught of eye-popping visuals, ear bursting soundscapes and mind-melting action makes Cygni the vanguard for the next generation of Shoot-em Ups.

Outgunned, outmanned and out on your own, plunge into a sky full of hell in a last-ditch battle for survival. Choose to route power between weapons or shield systems and go up against unrelenting waves of ground and aerial enemies. Upgrade your ship by picking up new tech and take down colossal alien bosses in visceral combat; do whatever it takes to survive.

Out of the Blue

They are sadly too late to save the swan who was hit by a car last week, but I see that the promised wildlife crossing signs are already posted on the road passing the pond behind our home. These are pretty impressive, inspiring optimism that they may have an actual positive impact on the reckless drivers in the area. They are large yellow signs, well-placed on the stretch of road that crosses between the marsh and the pond. They say SLOW at the top and XING at the bottom with silhouettes of the ducks and geese in-between. I went out to take a picture to share, but couldn't find a good vantage point without circling around the pond, so I'll do that later. But while I was out there I saw several cars and trucks clearly slowing down as they approached the signs, so I think they are helping already. Hopefully this means a safer summer for our fine-feathered friends.
