Football Manger 2020 Beta

The Football Manager Website now offers the beta version of Football Manager 2020 for Windows and macOS, providing a chance to kick around the association football/soccer sequel before its full release on November 19th. This requires preordering the full game, and this was originally to come on November 5th, but they wanted to give everyone an extra week to check it out. For a taste of what to expect without having to take out your wallet, the video on this page features branching outcomes based on your decisions to see how you stand up when the pressure is on. Here's more:
Anyone who has pre-purchased FM20 from a SEGA-approved digital retailer* can log into Steam and launch the Beta from their Steam library, right now. It's not too late to get access to the pre-release Beta either; as anyone who pre-purchases FM20 on PC and Mac between now and the game's release on Tuesday, November 19th (from a participating digital retailer) will see the Beta immediately added to their Steam library.

The pre-release Beta is a near complete (but not quite final) version of the game, so players may encounter some bugs and issues during play. These can be reported directly to the Sports Interactive team via the 'Report Bug' button on the in-game sidebar. Online play is also enabled, but there will be no access to the Steam Workshop or either the pre-game or in-game editors until the game's full release on November 19th.

For Honor Year 3 Season 4 Next Week

Ubisoft announces Year 3 Season 4 of For Honor will kick off on November 7th when Season Pass holders will gain early access to Sun Da, leader of the Zhanhu, a new Wu Lin hero. This cinematic trailer offers a look, and here's more on what's coming to the melee combat game, including a new balance patch:
Year 3 Season 4 takes place after the wreckage created by a massive sandstorm in the Wu Lin territories. Many warriors fled west and sought refuge in Heathmoor, while others stayed behind with the Emperor to rebuild an army. Among them, Sun Da, leader of the Zhanhu, found new ways to use fire in his laboratory at Qiang Pass, Year 3 Season 4’s newest map. Located at a narrow pass nestled between two mountains, the Wu Lin once built a grand fortress to claim the strategic route. With mountains on either side, the defending army only had to protect one front until a catastrophe weakened the fortifications. Now attackers amass at Qiang Pass, determined to open a path for their invading forces. In addition to adding a new hero and a new map, the new Season will also further balance heroes and certain hero feats. For full details of the title update, read more in For Honor’s patch notes 2.15.0:

Ubisoft Financials

Ubisoft offers their latest financial results covering the first half of their 2019-2020 fiscal year. They paved the way for this news last week by expressing their disappointment in the performance of Ghost Recon Breakpoint and, to a lesser degree, The Division 2 and saying they were delaying the releases of Gods & Monsters, Rainbow Six Quarantine, and Watch_Dogs Legion. They note that their operating income was "affected by impairment charges recorded for Ghost Recon Breakpoint, but also point to strong PC growth, saying this is "led notably by Uplay." As is usually the case with such reports, they express an optimistic outlook despite several downturns. Here's a bit:
Yves Guillemot, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, said "Our second-quarter performance demonstrates the solidity of our back catalog, which was fueled by the strong momentum of many of our titles. Having already seen very sharp growth in the first quarter, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey delivered a further acceleration in performance compared with the previous opus in terms of sell-through, player engagement and PRI. MAUs for Rainbow Six Siege reached a record high during the quarter and its PRI continued to increase. This game is making its mark in a highly competitive environment, particularly in the esports arena.

As illustrated by our announcement last week, we are continuing to take decisions in the interests of Ubisoft's long-term future. It is as a result of this approach that we’ve been able to significantly and successfully transform our business model in recent years and create major shareholder value.

Rumored Diablo 4 Details

A post on Reddit offers an information leak about Diablo 4 in advance of BlizzCon 2019. This is all unconfirmed, though DSOGaming notes that the source of this has proven reliable in the past, giving them great confidence it is bona fide. Here's the rumor:
Diablo 4 is actually going to look dark, gritty and gross - no more rainbow shiny bullshit this time! Loactions are toned down, infrequently laid with corpses, wasteland, greyish deserts, clut caves surrounded by flesh, rotten crypts, marshes and bogs, plagued cities you name it. They are also seemingly much bigger, maybe even open? Characters now are able to ride horses (possibly other mounts), also there's contextual interaction with environment ? - climbing a wall Lost Ark style. Blood splatters look more like blood and not splashed jam too.

So far i can confirm 3 classes: mage (uses fire, ice and lightning so far), barbarian (swords, clubs, axes, kicks etc), and druid (lightning, wind, and transforming into beasts - so far bear and werewolf!).

Possibly there will be PvP from the start?. 4 player coop is there for sure.

All this game seems to be is a W I N K to the Diablo 2 fans, Lilith being the new diablo (she's covered in blood veil kinda), characters being shown sitting at a campfire as character selection, nitty gritty dark style that 2 was praised for, some skills also seem to be just taken from it and put in here (like sorceress' charged bolt). I'm interested and hope they don't fuck this up. The company is bad, but the game might not be this time.

2 points with "?" are just because it's not clear to me tbh... let's see what they say at the conference

The Wanderer: Frankenstein's Creature Released

The Wanderer: Frankenstein's Creature is now available for Windows and macOS on Steam, offering a chance to relive Mary Shelly's classic horror novel just in time for Halloween. This is a story-driven narrative adventure that allows you to be the creature's moral compass, and decide whether you are more of a Frankenstein's monster or a Herman Munster. This trailer shows off the game's evocative art style, and the announcement has some details:
The Wanderer: Frankenstein’s Creature goes back to the roots of Mary Shelley’s legendary novel, Frankenstein, and invites players to discover a being quite different from the pop culture icon: Starring a creature born neither good nor evil, traveling through Europe in a search to find its origins and learn about humanity. This journey is emotional and challenging for both the creature and the player as beauty and kindness are often followed by darkness, fear and hate.

Depending on the player’s decision, the landscape and the soundtrack evolve throughout the game. The handcrafted watercolor environments, inspired by the Romantic era, change from light and colorful to dark and moody, underlining the emotional atmosphere of the game.

Out of the Blue

Boo! Happy Halloween! We are still here in Minnesota, so this will be a little different for us, though I don't imagine midwestern trick-or-treaters are very different from the east coast variety. It was going to be a change for us anyway, since we recently moved, but we were told that our new place is a hotbed of little ones like our old one was, so that probably wouldn't have been that unfamiliar either. To that end, we bought a whole pile of candy, so I guess I'll have to make a heroic self-sacrifice and crack into that when we get home. You know, for the children!
