Aluna: Sentinel of the Shards Announced

Digiart Interactive announces Aluna: Sentinel of the Shards an action/RPG coming next year to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch. This is centered on Aluna, a comic book heroine who was also a character in Heroes of Newerth, S2 Games' MOBA. A first look at the concept can be seen in this "pre teaser" trailer which includes some gameplay. Here's more on the plan:
Developed by N-Fusion Interactive and Digiart Interactive, Aluna: Sentinel of the Shards follows the exploits of Aluna, the warrior daughter of a Spanish conquistador and South American nature goddess Pachamama. Raised in early 16th century Spain, Aluna escaped to the New World only to realize it was her true homeland. Aluna: Sentinel of the Shards sets our heroine on a quest through Inca mythology as she strives to restore the amulet her goddess mother entrusted to her... and fulfill her true destiny.

Aluna: Sentinel of the Shards combines the deep action-RPG mechanics of Diablo with the revisionist mythology of God of War. Based around Inca lore, Aluna: Sentinel of the Shards features mythological gods, beasts, and tales that formed the backbone of 16th century Colombian culture. Venture from the Sanctuary seaside cliffs through the massive jungles of the New World, all the way to Nagaric’s Temple in the Volcanic Canyons in this epic historical adventure.

Insurgency: Sandstorm Gets New Mode and Map

Publisher Focus Home Interactive and developer New World Interactive offer a new update called Frontline for Insurgency: Sandstorm, their tactical first-person shooter. This post has screenshots, details, and full patch notes for the update, which brings the game to version 1.4. Here's a summary:
Insurgency: Sandstorm, the smash-hit indie FPS from New World Interactive, officially releases its Frontline update, bringing a host of new features dedicated to streamlining matchmaking and offering fresh content on a weekly basis. The two defining features of this update are Frontline, an intense tug-of-war style PvP mode, and Hillside, a reimagining of the classic Insurgency map ‘Sinjar’.

In the new PvP mode, Frontline, teams must capture all enemy objectives one by one, before destroying the final weapon cache objective to win, whilst at the same time protecting their own objectives. Each match becomes a large-scale, simultaneous attack-and-defend battle, with fire support, vehicles, and teams battling it out for objectives that award respawns for their team.

Hillside is the latest map, a reimagining of the classic Insurgency: Source and Insurgency mod map ‘Sinjar’, this time taking place in a new snow environment. The wide, open spaces for attackers and high elevation positions for defenders is a callback to the classic storm-the-beach D-Day FPS experience of old. Hillside is joined by two Galil LMG-variant assault rifles, a new 3x scope for the QBZ-03, and a batch of winter cosmetics for both Insurgents and Security factions. All this content and much more is playable across all maps and game modes!

The new map and game mode arrive with numerous bug fixes and quality of life changes, including a complete overhaul of the Play menu and official matchmaking, and the introduction of limited time weekly playlists featuring “mutated” game modes with tweaked gameplay with everything from bolt-action rifles only to health stealing.

It’s a big release and contains a lot of content including new Voyages, Duke’s Black Market cosmetic shop where players can spend Doubloons and gold, more aggressive Skeleton Ships and even roaming Skeleton Sloops!

This will begin this autumn with the release of a free Photo Mode, which will be followed in December with the launch of a new Expeditions game mode, which will likewise be free for all players. They also offer details on two paid expansions coming next year. The Foundation will be the game's first expansion and AWE will be the second, and these will be available individually or as part of a season pass. Here's the roadmap:
Global videogame publisher 505 Games and its partner, internationally renowned developer Remedy Entertainment, Plc. today announced a host of upcoming post-launch content for the award-winning Control. Critics are calling Control, which launched globally on Aug. 27, “one of the best games of 2019” (TIME Magazine) and “a game we’ll be talking about for generations” (GamesRadar); the “visually stunning” (Entertainment Weekly) Control is “Remedy at the peak of its game” (VG247).

Upcoming content for the renowned supernatural action-adventure game includes:

  • Photo Mode: Remedy is working on the much-desired Photo Mode, arriving this fall free to all players, which will enable players to take awesome snapshots of Jesse in the Oldest House.
  • New Game Mode: In December, the Expeditions game mode will be released, offering challenging new end-game content in which Jesse must help Security Chief Arish explore the mysterious Formation and its strange surroundings. Here you will face some of the greatest challenges the Oldest House has to throw at you. Expeditions will be free to all players.
  • Expansions: In 2020, two full, paid Expansions will be released, The Foundation and AWE. Both will offer new story missions, teams, enemies and game mechanics, and will take place in new locations within the Oldest House.
    • The Foundation will delve into the history of the Oldest House. At the request of the ever-mysterious Board, Jesse must explore what lies beneath the Bureau as she returns order to the Foundation and the Oldest House itself.
    • The second Expansion, AWE, will take Jesse into a new area of the Oldest House, the Investigations Sector, where the Bureau closely examines Altered World Events.

The PlayStation 4 Digital Deluxe Edition (£64.99) includes both Expansions, as well as an extra side mission, “Isolation” and an additional exclusive outfit, Jesse’s Urban Response Gear. For players who have already purchased the main game for PS4, the Season Pass is now available for pre-order, and also includes both expansions (upon release).

Each Expansion will also be available to purchase individually at release, and the Season Pass and individual Expansions will be available for purchase on Xbox One and PC, following the PlayStation 4 Expansion 1 “The Foundation” release. The AWE expansion will release on all platforms on the same date.

Anthology of Fear Announced

Indie Polish developer RG Crew announces Anthology of Fear, a first-person psychological horror game for PC and Switch. They say the PC edition (OSes are not specified) will be released in Q1 of next year, offering what they call "a fresh approach to the genre." The game already has a Steam Listing, and a first trailer is online with a look at gameplay. Here's word on the game and the three distinct stories it will offer:
Anthology of Fear will cover three different stories. The first of them was set in the 20th century in a remote area of Siberia, where there will be a struggle for survival and elements of hunting. The next is contemporary history, in which creative act and alienation play first fiddle. The last story is set in an unspecified place and time, and the main theme will be memories.

RG Crew studio announces that in each of the episodes you can count on a different style of gameplay.

“In Anthology of Fear we took a broad perspective and that will translate into the gameplay itself. Thus, each episode will also be different in this respect. Depending on the episode, there will be plenty of exploration, sneaking, escaping, fighting and hunting” – explains RG Crew’s chief programmer, Piotr Rycąbel.

The main features of Anthology of Fear:

  • Three unique stories;
  • Multidimensional fear;
  • Ambiguous reality;
  • Diversified gameplay;
  • Stylish graphic design;
  • Original soundtrack.

The release date for Anthology of Fear is set for the first quarter of 2020. In the following months, the game will also be released on Nintendo Switch.
