Watch Dogs: Legion Announced

Ubisoft officially announces Watch Dogs: Legion, after last week's confirmation of leaked details about the next installment in the surveillance state game. They offer first details on the game, and say it will be released for PC and consoles on March 6, 2020. An official world premiere trailer introduces the game, while another trailer offers a look at gameplay. Also, NVIDIA announces the game will feature support for their DirectX ray tracing technology. Here's word on the game and its Gold, Ultimate, and Collector's Editions:
Today at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Ubisoft® announced that Watch Dogs®: Legion, the newest installment of the blockbuster Watch Dogs® franchise will be available worldwide on March 6, 2020 for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X and Windows PC. Watch Dogs: Legion will also launch on the new generation gaming platform, Stadia

In the near future, London is facing its downfall: people are being oppressed by an all-seeing surveillance state, a corrupt private military corporation controls the streets, and a powerful crime syndicate is preying on the most vulnerable. In Watch Dogs: Legion, the player’s mission is to build a resistance to fight back against the emergence of an authoritarian regime.

Thanks to a never-before-seen gameplay innovation created by Ubisoft Toronto*, the studio behind Watch Dogs: Legion, players will have complete freedom to ‘Play as Anyone.’ Every Londoner in the open world is fully simulated, with a persistent life and backstory, and players can recruit anyone from the entire population into their team. From an MI5 agent to a tough bareknuckle fighter, from a brilliant hacker to an illegal street racer, or from a rising football star to a geriatric grandma, anyone can join the resistance and become the hero of the story.

Every character also has unique gameplay traits, based on their profile. Once they join the team, players choose their class, level them up, and unlock new abilities and upgrades. They can easily swap between them and approach the challenges of the game the way they want using hacking and drones, stealth, melee or combat, lethal or non-lethal.

In Watch Dogs: Legion, the players' choices have real consequences. If non-lethal force is used, the enemy will attempt to subdue and arrest the player. But if the player shoots to kill, their characters could be wounded or even permanently killed.

In Watch Dogs: Legion, players can even bring their unique team online and team up with their friends in four-player co-op, while sharing their progression between single-player and online.

Walker to life,” said Nouredine Abboud, executive producer at Ubisoft Paris. “Walker is a complex villain, and it was important for us to find someone who could bring the necessary level of depth to the character. A Kickstarter update for Shenmue III reveals the PC edition of the game will be an Epic Games Store exclusive (thanks Devinoch). There is backlash to this news in the comments, as the crowdfunding campaign for the action/adventure sequel previously promised a Steam key to backers, which goes unaddressed by the new update, which is reproduced below:
We are happy to announce that Shenmue III for PC will be will be an Epic Games Store exclusive. Bethesda Announces Orion Streaming Tech

Bethesda Softworks announces Orion, "a patented collection of software technologies that optimize game engines for superior performance in a streaming environment." Developed by id Software, they say this is "platform-agnostic" game streaming technology to allow games to stream with lower latency and lower bandwidth at higher quality. Here's a bit:
In contrast to game streaming services that focus on hardware solutions to stream games, Orion is game engine-based technology that optimizes a game for the cloud. Integrated within the game engine itself, Orion can achieve dramatic latency reductions of up to 20% per frame and requires up to 40% less bandwidth. The Orion technology is complementary to the hardware technology in data centers built by other streaming providers, ensuring much better results when paired together.

RAGE 2 Roadmap offers an E3 2019 trailer for RAGE 2, offering a look at the future of the shooter sequel in a clip styled after an 80s television intro. The clip shows off the free weekly content coming to the game, as well as a glimpse of the Rise of the Ghosts expansion coming later this year. Here's the roadmap:
Oh, that’s right. It’s a bunch of awesome free shit, including new vehicles like the pilotable Mech and the one-wheeled Armadillo, new dynamic events, new Cheats, and so. Much. More. Now, you might be thinking to yourself, “Wow. Why are they giving all this stuff away for free?” That’s a stupid question. It’s because we just love you guys, like, so much. We would give you the moon if that weren’t such a stupid gift. Seriously, where would you keep a moon? That’s not a present; it’s a responsibility. Take a look at the latest RAGE 2 trailer for a sneak peak at everything coming up and get the full breakdown of everything you’ll see below.

Here’s everything you’ll have access to over the next month:

  • Pilotable Mech “Boom Bringer” vehicle – Mechs aren’t just for the River Hogs anymore. Hop into the new Boom Bringer Mech and…. Well, bring the boom. And the explosions. And the mindboggling amounts of pain.
  • Global Worming dynamic event – Aside from having a really excellent name, the Global Worming event introduces the Sand Worm, a massive new enemy that will require all your Ranger skills to take down.
  • Bug Swarm dynamic event – Don’t you love leaving your house in the warmer months and immediately being assaulted by millions of flying insects? Yeah, neither do we. Let’s kill all those little bastards.
  • One-wheeled “Armadillo” vehicle – The name is cute, and if you ask us, the vehicle is pretty cute, too. Cute in an “Oh god, it’s coming this way and it’s not slowing down and it’s going to run right over me” kind of way. So maybe not that cute. Definitely rad, though. (Did you know that armadillos can transmit leprosy to humans? So cute!)
  • “Ghost” motorcycle – Be the edgiest kid in the wasteland with the new Ghost motorcycle. A hint of what’s to come in the upcoming Rise of the Ghosts expansion, perhaps?
  • Stanley Express missions – Visit key locations around the map and find Stanley, an excellent source of missions and a machine-shaped friend.
  • New Cheats – Get the TV fatal and OzzyMan voice packs, the Rejector Seat Cheat, and more!
  • New weapon skins
  • New Daily Events
  • New Wasteland Challenges and Community Events

The trailer also teased the Rise of the Ghosts expansion, which is coming later this year. This huge expansion will add an entirely new questline, region to explore, and faction to the game, in addition to a new weapon and ability to add to your already impressive arsenal.

The teams at Avalanche and id Software have been listening to your comments and feedback and are also working on new difficulty modes and a New Game+ mode, and we’ll have more on that in the coming weeks.
