Borderlands 3 Pulled from Epic Mega Sale

Borderlands 3 is no longer available for preorder on the Epic Games Store, as Gearbox's upcoming shooter sequel is the latest game to be yoinked from the big Epic Games Sale. Other games were removed from the sale because of the impact of the $10.00 USD discount Epic is subsidizing on top of other discounts, and it seems likely that unhappiness with this is behind the removal of the new Borderlands game as well. Eurogamer notes that the PC edition is also no longer available for preorder from the Borderlands website. They asked Epic for a comment, and Epic declined, saying to ask 2K Games, but the publisher has not provided an explanation as of yet.

Moonshiners The Game Announced

Watch out for the revenuers, as Discovery announces Moonshiners The Game, a project expected in fall 2020 based on the Moonshiners television series. As can be inferred from the title, this is based on the age old, albeit illegal, art of home whiskey distillation. The game already has a Steam listing, and while this doesn't have a video, it has a bunch of stills (sorry) to show how this game looks. With the promise of more details soon, they provide the following feature list:
Moonshiners main features:

  • Build your own unique apparatus inspired by designs of fabled moonshiners
  • Make your own moonshine recipes or find legendary recipes in the game world
  • Watch out for the police and Feds - you can run or maybe it's better to bribe them?
  • Discover the atmosphere of the Appalachians: alcohol smuggling, police raids, forest stills and the beauty of misty and mysterious forests.
  • Write a new page in the Moonshine history! Will you become a new legend like Popcorn Sutton or Barney Barnwell?
  • Decide who you will deliver to and who will have to wait - but remember you are not the only moonshiner in the area and the competition may use any delay.

Warframe: The Jovian Concord Next Week

Digital Extremes announces The Jovian Concord, an upcoming overhaul of the Jupiter tileset in Warframe that will rework gameplay as well as the environments in the Gas City environment. They say this free update will come to the PC edition of the third-person shooter next week, offering this video with a before and after look. This will also see the introduction of a new Warframe called Wisp, and they provide this trailer with a look this "ethereal traveler."
On the heels of Warframe®'s recent Plains of Eidolon Remaster comes the powerful new The Jovian Concord update, a full graphic overhaul of the Tenno-favorite Jupiter tileset (AKA 'Gas City'), now with reworked environments and gameplay. Reimagined with Warframe's modern parkour movement in mind, The Jovian Concord enables Tenno to wield the powerful 40th Warframe 'Wisp' to experience a variety of new enemies including the deadly new flying Eidolon boss. Canadian developer and publisher Digital Extremes' The Jovian Concord will arrive on PC next week for free.

Beneath gaseous bronze clouds lies the opportunity to explore something surprisingly new. The Jovian Concord reimagines the original Warframe environment with a vast level of physical terrain, every inch offering a fresh look and feel. Using nimble parkour skills, Tenno can explore internal heights and face new hazards or gauge their chances outside by leaping through the air along floating stations, distant platforms, crossbars, antennas, and more.

Longtime villain Alad V's twisted experiments with Sentient technology have yielded hideous cyborg-like results -- Amalgam variants and Jetpack Agents -- whose laboratories hide a deeper sinister plot. Through new Sabotage, Rescue and Spy missions, and even a new gameplay mode, "Disruption", Tenno will piece together frightening tidbits of lore that could lay the groundwork for a looming war -- all before confronting Gas City's deadliest threat, the ever-present menace the Ropalolyst.

The Jovian Concord brings with it the second new Warframe of 2019, the ethereal Wisp. Players will float across the battlefield with her light-based Abilities to provide support to allies while wielding her unique Passive, turning her invisible in air. Her Abilities include:

  • RESERVOIRS: Choose and summon a Reservoir filled with Motes that attach to and aid Wisp and her allies. Haste Mote grants increased movement and attack speed. Vitality Mote increases maximum health and heals over time. Shock Mote stuns nearby enemies.
  • WIL-O-WISP: Cast forward a spectral image of Wisp to confuse and distract enemies. Reactivate to travel to its position. Hold to have the image travel faster and teleport to its position on release.
  • BREACH SURGE: Open a dimensional breach to overwhelm nearby enemies and cause them to release aggressive Surge sparks when damaged.
  • SOL GATE: Open a portal to the sun to irradiate enemies with a devastating beam of pure solar plasma.

Download Warframe's The Jovian Concord next week on PC for free. Look for the console versions to arrive soon.

Death end re;Quest re;Leased

Steam now offers the Windows edition of Death end re;Quest, an anime action/RPG with a meta theme about a game developer getting trapped inside one of their projects. Here's a cinematic trailer, and here's more:
Arata Mizunashi, a video game programmer, receives a notification from an email sent to him by Shina Ninomiya, a colleague of his who went missing nearly one year ago. Together, they worked to create World’s Odyssey (W.O.D.), an immersive virtual landscape powered by breathtaking, state-of-the-art technology. That is, until Shina's sudden disappearance put a swift halt to production. Arata discovers the startling revelation that Shina Ninomiya was stuck inside of “W.O.D.” the whole time. When Arata delves hurriedly back into the lines of code haunting his forsaken project, he realizes that his game is now ravaged by an infestation of bugs, and that Shina is its only active player.

Arata soon learns that a nefarious force prevents him from extracting Shina out of the game. Her only way out? She must complete the game to unlock the perfect ending—an outcome with a success rate of 1%. On their journey, they encounter a slew of NPC characters that blur perceptions of humanity and A.I.-technology, setting into a motion a thrilling narrative that calls into question the differences between the virtual world and ours.

Little do they know what horrors await them on both sides of the screen...

Out of the Blue

Fassbender, Foxx, Dinklage Up For "Wild Bunch." Please. Just. Don't. Feel free to make more remakes of pretty good westerns such as The Magnificent Seven and True Grit. There are plenty out there where you can justify another take on the concept. But The Wild Bunch is Sam Peckinpah's masterpiece, and I don't see how you can do it justice. The only thing that would upset me more is if someone decided to start remaking Sergio Leone movies. I may need to round up a posse and go after these outlaws.
