Sorry, James Released

Sorry, James is now available on Steam, offering a text-based puzzle game for Windows with a non-linear story where you play as James Garner (no relation). Here's a trailer with a look at the game's unusual interface and gameplay, and there's also a playable demo that can be checked out firsthand. Here are further details:

You are James Garner, a security engineer at Mantis Corp., a leading tech company in weaponry field. You got a usual task to decrypt company files. Unusual is that these files contain bizarre chat. Things become weirder when you realize that your job is to “hack love story.”

Why is this so important for Mantis?
What can be hidden in someone's conversation?
What will you risk to find out the truth?

Sorry, James is non-linear story-driven puzzle game which takes unusual step on storytelling. You will discover plot through dialogues of two strangers and learn a tale about James, whose role is to decrypt files containing that chat. Along with creepy thriller and conspiracy atmosphere, there is the unique game mechanic that reminds mix of Sudoku and Minesweeper-like gameplay.

Warlock Revenge

Steam now offers Warlock Revenge, a Windows first-persons shooter with graphics and gameplay that would have been pretty current in 1993. But it's priced appropriately, and has garnered positive feedback from Steam users and the retro gamers at Indie Retro News (thanks Ant). Here's a trailer and here's word:

Darkness gathers over the Isle of Shadows, and hordes of evil demons called by the water mages are flooding the peaceful lands, sowing chaos and destruction. The evil draws its power from an ancient artifact – the book of thousands of deaths that rests in the deepest chambers of hell. Warlock Haviron decides to destroy the book and leaves for a long journey full of adventures and dangers...

Warlock Revenge is an FPS of the early 1990's type, built on Ray Casting technology. The game offers a classic gameplay, typical for the shooters of that time. Simple but exciting at the same time mechanics, alongside the fantasy style bright graphics, allows you to bring back a long-forgotten sense of nostalgia.

Deadpool Game Dead to Steam Soon

If you had the Deadpool game in your Steam dead pool, you are about to win, as Steam News announces that it is going to be "retired" from their service on Thursday, November 16th. The game will remain playable for those who already own it, however, so to give everyone a last chance, they've put it on sale with a big 70% discount. Here's a refresher straight from the mouth of the merc:

There are a few important things I need to say before you crack into my insanely sweet game. (Oof. Here we go again.) I'm a mercenary with an accelerated healing factor. I've been described as unstable, which is just plain coo-coo. (Wait, do sane people say coo-coo?) I'm gonna battle for the safety of humans and mutants. (And even mumans.) Be prepared for just about anything. (Holla!)

Key Features:

  • I made sure to capture all my good sides, so I made my game a third-person action-shooter. (Yep, you get to look at my heinie.)
  • Keep a look out cuz some of my X-Men pals (Whoa, what pals?!) are making an appearance. (Hope you don't mind picking hair out of your tacos.)
  • I'm really good at killing, so I made it a blast stringing together combos, and totally eviscerating my enemies. (Ev-is-cer-a-ting!)
  • I brought my skills and a buttload of my favorite things. Katanas (check), guns (bang!) explosives (boom), duct tape (quack) and of course, yours truly - ME! (Checkmate!)

Out of the Blue

MrsBlue accidentally hit the back of her hand last week, and ended up with a painful swollen bruise as a result. At first we thought it might be broken, and set up an appointment with an orthopedist. We decided to keep this even when her hand was feeling better, and it turns out this was a good decision. Though she didn't break any bones, she apparently managed to rupture a sagittal band, an injury known as "boxer's knuckle." She's in a splint for the next month or so, which we're told should help this to heal. Interestingly, we're also told that if she had put off seeing the doctor too long, this would have likely have led to her needing a surgical repair. I'm trying to take a lesson from that, because if it was my injury, I surely would have talked myself into a wait-and-see approach, ensuing surgery and all. Yikes!

Injustice 2 Adding Ninja Turtles and More

WBIE announces plans for Fighter Pack #3 for Injustice 2, the DC Comics fighting game. This will add The Atom and The Enchantress, and will also tap heroes from a different comic company with the addition of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. These heroes are part of the Ultimate Edition of the game as well as the Ultimate Pack upgrade for the standard edition, and they will also be offered individually. The PC edition of the game is expected next week, and word is all console DLC will be available for purchase. This trailer offers a look, and here are more details:

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today released a new trailer unveiling the next three DLC characters coming to Injustice 2 in Fighter Pack #3 – DC characters The Atom and Enchantress, and Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Players who have purchased the Injustice 2 Ultimate Edition, the Injustice 2 Ultimate Pack, or the Injustice 2 Fighter Pack #3 will have early access to each of the three new fighters before they are available a la carte.

The Injustice 2 Ultimate Edition and the Injustice 2 Ultimate Pack include a total of nine additional playable characters; three Premiere Skins that transform select fighters into alternate characters with new looks, voices and dialogue; and two exclusive Gear Shaders that enable players to customize the look of their roster with alternate color themes. The Injustice 2 Ultimate Edition is available now for $99.99 for the PlayStation®4, Xbox One X and Xbox One. Players who have already purchased the standard edition of the game can get all of the same content in the Injustice 2 Ultimate Pack for $39.99, also for the PlayStation®4 and Xbox One.

Injustice 2 will be coming to PC (Steam and the Microsoft Store) on Nov. 14, with all previously released DLC for console available for purchase. Hellboy will be available for PC players at a later time.

Out of the Blue

Today is Veteran's Day here in the U.S., so here's a salute to vets and their kin. Today is also Armistice Day, marking the 99th anniversary of the end of the first World War. I wonder if next year this will get attention due to the centennial? I imagine not, as it seems the outbreak of World War II 20 years later did a lot to remove the luster from the end of World War I.
