Overwatch Event Trailer Leaks

The tradition of leaks related to Overwatch continues, as PlayStation France accidentally posted a trailer a day in advance of tomorrow's reveal. This was spotted by NeoGAF, and though it was removed shortly after that, it was already yoinked by GameInformer, where there is now a local copy. The clip shows Tracer, Mercy, Reinhardt, and Torbjörn in their already leaked Agents of Overwatch skins fighting an onslaught of omnics, seemingly tipping off a PvE mode for the multiplayer shooter.

G2A Responds to Gearbox

Eurogamer has a response from G2A about the recent demands by Gearbox that resulted in the death of a promotion planned for Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition. Though the deal was ended because they didn't immediately accede to the ultimatum, they now explain they were already in full compliance (from their perspective). Though they don't explain why their deal with Gearbox isn't still in place, they do insist, "All of the requests made of G2A.com in the ultimatum have in fact long been part of our marketplace."

Serious Sam's Bogus Detour Announced

Developer Crackshell announces Serious Sam's Bogus Detour, which lives up to the detour in its title by departing from the first-person shooter genre of previous Serious Sam games. They call this an action adventure, though the reveal trailer makes this look like a top-down, bullet hell shooter. The game's Steam page is online, offering a summer 2017 release window and the following description:
Serious Sam’s Bogus Detour is an all-new action-adventure in the legendary Serious Sam saga from Hammerwatch developer Crackshell. Battle through beautiful Mediterranean locales, dangerous biological weapons labs and even high-tech moon bases as a one-man wrecking crew or in four-player online cooperative for maximum chaos! Dominate the chaotic Survival and Versus modes or make your own mods, modes, and even total conversions with the include game editor. Serious Sam’s Bogus Detour is the biggest little Serious Sam game ever made!

Minecraft Adding Real-Money Marketplace

A new Minecraft Partner Program is being launched by Microsoft, as they are set to open a premium marketplace for content for the sandbox construction game. This will involve cash money, though this will be enveloped in a new form of virtual currency because everything is better with spacebux. They offer the chance to be a content provider, though this requires being registered as a business. Here's word on what to expect:
Millions of Players, Dozens of Devices, One Minecraft Marketplace

Partner content will appear in the Minecraft in-game Store, which is available to Minecraft Pocket Edition and Windows 10 Edition, including Windows 10, Android, iOS, Apple TV, Gear VR, Oculus and Amazon Kindle Minecraft players.

  • The in-game store makes it easy for players to download and install new maps, textures and skins without ever leaving the game.
  • Every new submission from partners is reviewed for quality and safety before it is added to the store and available to players.
  • Players use Minecraft Coins, a virtual currency, to make purchases. This allows creators to set a single price globally.

Battlezone VR Beta

Battlezone website is accepting signups to beta test the Windows VR version of Battlezone, the retro action/strategy game (thanks Eurogamer). This is already available for PlayStation VR, and now they are preparing versions for release for Oculus Rift and HTC VIVE. Registrations end on the 13th, and here's word on the testing:
Why are we doing a beta?
PC is a fantastic platform for gamers because of the choice it offers. Before we release Battlezone on HTC Vive and Oculus Rift we want to make sure it’s optimised for the different kinds of hardware configurations you use, as well as testing the performance of online co-op.

To do this, we need your help! We’re looking for a select group of HTC Vive and Oculus Rift owners who want to help test our game, and are keen to give feedback directly to the devs.

When is the beta?
The Beta will run from April 19th to April 25th inclusive.

How can I get involved?
Obviously you’ll need either the HTC Vive or the Oculus Rift, and meet the minimum specs on your PC – as long as you have that, you’re in with a chance!

U.K. Sales Charts

The Sims 4 is the top title on the GFK Chart-Track top 30 chart of the bestselling PC games in the U.K. for the week ending April 8th. The little people continue to dominate this chart, as a five of the top 11 games are from that series. Mass Effect: Andromeda was number two last week, but now drops to number seven. Persona 5 debuts at number one on the all platforms chart, where Mass Effect: Andromeda drops to number five after a brief stint at number one. Here's how they summarize all this action:
Launched on Tuesday on PS4 and PS3 and receiving glowing reviews, ‘Persona 5’ from Atlus/Deep Silver debuts at No1.

It is the first J-RPG (Japanese RPG) to debut at the top of the All Formats Chart since ‘Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch’ back in W5 2013 (‘Final Fantasy XV’ launched at No2, but it had to contend with ‘FIFA 17’). It is by far the biggest launch for a ‘Persona’ title and the first ever All Formats No1 for developer and publisher Atlus. ‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ slips down to No5 after two weeks at the top, while ‘Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands’ and ‘Lego Worlds’ both hold on to No’s 2 and 3 respectively. Originally released on Wii U back in W13 2013 when it debuted at No12, ‘Lego City Undercover’ comes to PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, pushing it back in to the chart at No8 and giving publisher Warner Bros. two Lego games in the Top 10 and four in the Top 40. Retailer promotions give boosts to ‘Overwatch’ up from No14 to No10 and ‘WWE 2K17’ up from No19 to No13.

The only other new titles to make the Top 40 are ‘Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition’ from Gearbox Publishing/Maximum Games at No23 and ‘Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits’ at No36. Sister title ‘Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls’ fails to make the Top 40.

Out of the Blue

Congrats to UT Arlington for raging through Blizzard's Heroes of the Dorm tournament. My brain gets quickly overwhelmed by too much strategy, so Heroes of the Storm is about as much MOBA as I can handle, and I enjoy watching the matches. This is actually the third year in a row that I've watched parts of this tournament, which made me laugh at myself when I thought more about it. I've explained dozens of times that I don't watch college sports, and now I realize that for this HotS scenario I'm the exact opposite, as I get caught up in this amateur collegiate tournament every year, but I almost never watch professional games. That seems a little weird.
