Mafia III Expansion Plans

There is an outline of how the Mafia III story will continue this year on the Mafia website, where they have added three story expansions to the roadmap for the open-world crime sequel. They include specific dates in what they call a "targeted timeline," but warn that release dates may shift "slightly" along the way. There is a quick Q&A on the first expansion along with the following overview of the plan:
Ever since the team wrapped production for the game’s launch, we’ve been hard at work expanding the world of New Bordeaux. So, with that, here’s what you can look forward to in 2017. As we said above, keep in mind that precise dates may shift.

“Faster, Baby!”
End of March 2017
Fast cars, dramatic chases, and epic stunt driving take center stage as Lincoln joins forces with Roxy Laveau, a sister-in-arms out to take down a corrupt Sheriff terrorizing Civil Rights activists on the outskirts of New Bordeaux.

“Stones Unturned”
May 2017
When a merciless rival resurfaces in New Bordeaux, Lincoln must join forces with CIA agent John Donovan to settle a blood feud that began in the war-torn jungles of Vietnam.

“Sign of the Times”
July 2017
A string of ritualistic killings has New Bordeaux on the edge of terror. At Father James’ request, Lincoln agrees to hunt down the cult responsible, a quest that will take him from the dark heart of the old bayou to the drug-ridden counterculture of the inner city.

All three of these story expansions will deliver tight, focused, and compelling narratives, while also introducing new gameplay mechanics, activities, environments and rewards.

American Truck Simulator Going to New Mexico

The SCS Software blog celebrates the first anniversary of the release of American Truck Simulator. To mark the occasion they detail an upcoming expansion that will take the transport simulation into New Mexico, though there's no word on whether you will be hauling meth for Walter White. They offer some screenshots of the new environments along with this roadmap:
Today marks one year anniversary of American Truck Simulator's release. When we started working on the game way back several years ago, it was with a tiny team of five people, and still we were not sure if we can sustain the development. But we persisted, and were rewarded by a very strong launch on the market and a warm reception by the community as well as gaming press. This gave us the confidence to bolster the team and raise our ambition for the scale of the project.

At this moment, over 20 people focus solely on ATS development; an internal team plus a network of full-time contractors. Still it is not enough. We are well aware that the game's fans would like to see more content, more vehicles, more game features, more optimizations, faster progress. To make this possible, we keep growing the company - our vision is to at least double our production bandwidth for both American Truck as well as Euro Truck 2. We have been adding a few new people to the company pretty much every month during 2016, and we'll definitely keep on growing through 2017. All this new talent does and will make a difference that you should definitely notice.

We are happy to confirm that the next map expansion for American Truck Simulator will be the state of New Mexico!

More Overwatch Cheaters Banned

PC Gamer says that translating this Korean thread reveals that Blizzard has banned another 22,000+ players in Korea for hacking in Overwatch. The post notes the futile nature of such a measure since so many players access the game in Korea through "PC Bang" gaming centers for an hourly fee, so some of the accounts being banned do not actually belong to the cheaters. Word is most of the bans were for using third-party software in the game, and they have a translation of Blizzard's comment on the topic:
Creating and delivering a pleasant game environment for the majority of good players is of paramount importance to us and we are committed to taking all the steps we can take to create, distribute and use our programs. We are also aware of the fact that our programs are circulated through various communities, and we will prepare countermeasures.

Out of the Blue

Happy Groundhog Day! As I mentioned yesterday this has been a pretty mild winter here in the northeast, but that doesn't reduce hopes for an early spring, so lets turn to the weather rodents. As unlikely as it seems based on how overcast is was yesterday, apparently Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, leading to his prediction of six more weeks of winter. But even closer to the BlueTower is Staten Island Chuck, reputed to have an 80% success rate, and beloved for his feisty relationship with publicity-hungry mayors (Mayor de Blasio did not attend today after dropping Chuck in 2014 though it was later reported to be a female stand-in after this accidental public execution). Chuck (presuming the substitute groundhog story isn't a conspiracy) did not see his shadow, and called for an early spring. Reports that Chuck called Phil an untalented hack along the way remain unconfirmed. It's frustrating to get mixed results from such an exact science like shadow spotting, but there it is.
