Dishonored 2 Patch Plans

Bethesda.net has more on performance issues with the PC edition of Dishonored 2 following its official launch today. They offered some workarounds in a post yesterday, but now they also say a patch is in the works to offer further improvements. Here's the plan:
Thank you for supporting Dishonored 2.

We have been monitoring the PC forums and social channels and while we're excited to hear that many of you are enjoying the game, we are disheartened that some of you are experiencing PC performance issues on some systems.

We are actively working to provide an update to address your concerns. The patch and its release notes will be available in the coming days.

With the feedback our support group as received, we are preparing a patch intended to provide improvements to allow for more consistent framerates on affected systems and provide an update to the mouse code for smoother input.

While we prepare the patch, we encourage players to use the recommended settings posted on Bethesda.net and check out the Steam Community Guides for the best experience.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Zombie XP Bonus

Infinity Ward tweets that this is a double XP weekend for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Zombies, the mode based on the space zombie epidemic that's an inevitable part of our future. This is already underway and they say it runs through Monday at 10:00 am, but don't include a time zone, so we assume it's Moon Standard Time. They do include a depiction of a gamer and his fanny pack, but this just makes us want to punch the artist.

Candle Released

Daedalic and Teku Studios say let's light this candle, as they announce the release of Candle, a puzzle game for Windows, Linux, and OS X. This is available on Steam, where they also offer an artbook and the game's soundtrack as DLC. They shed more light on this in the Candle release trailer which shows off gameplay, and here's word:
Candle is a puzzle adventure with demanding puzzles. Players take on the role of Teku, a young man bound to rescue his tribe’s shaman from the vile Wakcha Clan. But the way is spiked with traps and many trials. To master the way ahead, Teku has to pay close attention to his suroundings and make good use of his deductive skills – or his journey will come to an early end.

But Teku has a special gift: His left hand is a candle. He can use it as a torch to fend off enemies or as a bright beacon to light dark places.

Candle’s unique charm comes from the beautifully hand-drawn watercolor visuals, as all backgrounds, characters and objects have been individually painted and scanned for the game. Every minute of Candle feels like a living painting.

The Silver Lining - Haunted Castle Experience

Phoenix Online Studios now offers The Silver Lining - Haunted Castle Experience in their online store as a free download. This is a playable teaser for the upcoming episode five in The Silver Lining, their episodic RPG inspired by the King's Quest series. This is HTC Vive compatible as they test out VR support, though it can be played on a monitor as well. They also offer their outlook on when to expect the release of the next chapter. "We’ve been steadily working on Episode 5 for a long time, and we’re finally at a point where we feel we can confidently promise it will be out next year," said Katie Hallahan, PR Director and co-designer of The Silver Lining. "The Haunted Castle Experience is a unique way to give a sneak peek of what’s to come while having some fun with the Halloween season, plus we got to test the waters with a VR-compatible experience. And this is just the beginning of the lead-up for Episode 5. There’ll be more news coming as we get into 2017 and closer to announcing a definite release date."

Roller Coaster Tycoon World Next Week

Atari announces a November 16th release date for Roller Coaster Tycoon World, their elegantly named theme park simulation. The game's website has details on its emergence from early access, and promises a livestream later today to show off the finished product. Here's what they say:
The time is now! We are excited to announce the official release date for RollerCoaster Tycoon World: Wednesday, November 16th, ahead of the upcoming Holiday season. It’s been a great ride and we can’t wait to finally present the new and improved RCTW to you all! Our November 16th release will include all the new features we laid out in our last blog – a brand-new progression mode, new UI and main menu, refreshed peeps – along with tons of performance improvements and bug fixes. The game will be available for purchase via Steam, on this site, and other online distributors, and if you own the game already, it will be automatically updated to our full release version.

Additionally, we want to sincerely thank everyone who participated in our Early Access program. The game is where it is today thanks to your tireless commitment and love for RCTW and dedication to the RCT franchise. As a small gesture of our appreciation, every player who purchased a copy of RCTW in Early Access will receive two exclusive in-game gifts – a new Pendulum flatride, and our Candy Shop store. These gifts will show up automatically in your game when you update after we leave Early Access.

For a sneak peek of RCTW 1.0, we’ll be streaming the game tomorrow, Friday 11/11 @ 2pm EST with RCTW designer Steven Lumpkin, aka Silent0siris on Twitch! He’ll be taking you on a tour of all the great new stuff we have in store when we hit full release on 11/16.

And remember – this is only the beginning for RCTW! We’ll be rolling out FREE and paid DLC over the coming months, along with continued optimizations and improvements.

As a reminder, make sure to save your blueprints now. Like we mentioned in our last blog, any item you save as a blueprint will be saved as we transition from Early Access to full release, but due to the massive progression and technical updates coming to the full release, your saved games from Early Access will not carry over to the full release version of RCTW. Make sure to start backing up your work now!

RCTW 1.0 is on track, and ready to roll out to you all very, very soon. See you in the park!

Wireless Vive Accessory Shown in China

A post on Upload VR has first details on an add-on for HTC Vive that will allow the VR headsets to operate wirelessly (thanks Gamasutra). They say this will be a $220 peripheral, but will only be offered at first to customers in China. Preorders begin today, but there is no reference at this time to bringing this to other territories. This apparently operates beyond the laws of physics, as the creators say this adds adding no "noticeable difference" to latency. They also offer this video to show off someone wearing a headset with no wires, which isn't even as interesting as it sounds. Here's an excerpt:
Speaking to UploadVR in a phone interview, Graylin said that the experience would “greatly improve” the overall Vive experience, with no “noticeable difference” for factors like latency. The product will be available to pre-order with a standard battery, though Graylin said that a bigger battery will be sold eventually. We’re told the standard battery can deliver around one and a half hours of power. The bigger battery would rest in a user’s pocket.

HTC expects the device to be adopted by “avid” Vive users, though it could also be useful for businesses. Arcades, an area that the company is placing a big emphasis on of late, could have multiple Vive units without worrying about tangled wires and fewer tripping hazards, for example.
