No Metro Game in 2017

The Metro Facebook page has a reaction from Deep Silver to the indications that a new Metro game is in the works (thanks Gematsu). They confirm they have more plans for the series, but dash hopes that a new Metro game will arrive by the 2017 date mentioned:
You may have noticed some sites have reported that a new Metro game would be released in 2017. Deep Silver has released the following statement...

As the exclusive rights holder to videogames set in the Metro 2033 universe, Deep Silver has ambitious plans for the hugely successful Metro series.

But just to manage our fans' expectations - releasing the next Metro game in 2017 is not one of them.

When we have more news to share, we will.

Thank you for your patience.

Homefront: The Revolution Content Patch & DLC

Publisher Deep Silver and developer Dambuster Studios offer Aftermath, a second DLC pack for Homefront: The Revolution. This adds more single-player content to the game, and is available separately, or as part of a season pass. This is accompanied by a new patch for the base game that includes a free Resistance Mode mission for all players. The official website has the following details on the DLC and the patch:
Aftermath is set in the days after the Battle for Philadelphia, when the fledgling rebellion hangs in the balance. The inspirational Resistance figurehead Benjamin Walker has been broken by the KPA, and is now broadcasting counter-revolutionary propaganda for the enemy. Support for the embattled Resistance is ebbing away…

As Ethan Brady, you have been tasked to assassinate the man once known as the ‘Voice of Freedom’ for the sake of the Revolution. But instead, you will defy orders and embark on a daring rescue mission.

Aftermath is free to all holders of the Homefront Expansion Pass, and available to purchase separately for $5.99 (regional pricing may vary). It is ready to download now for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation® 4 computer entertainment system and Windows PC via Steam.

A new FREE Resistance Mode Mission – Uncle S.A.M. – has also been added as part of this week’s patch, and is available to all players. Your Squad must counter the KPA’s aerial superiority by deploying S.A.M. launchers, then take out their Air Force’s high command in a deadly strike… Any players returning to Homefront: The Revolution will also find that the recent ‘Performance Patch’ has massively improved the overall experience.

New Rainbow Six Siege Operator Revealed

The Rainbow Six Siege website has details on Echo, a new operator coming to the strategic shooter as part of Operation Red Crow. This video offers a very brief look at the character, and they promise to reveal the operator's abilities in an upcoming livestream. In the meantime, the post fills in some details:
Officially classified for years, the secretive nature of the S.A.T. is key to portray this paramilitary. Daoud-Brixi revealed that the R6 Dev Team stood at a crossroad between the realism in Siege and the fantasy shrouding this unit. “This mix gave us the perfect platform to create an Operator who would challenge the tactical methods seen in-game up to date. We suddenly were in uncharted waters, which allowed for more unconventional options. It was pretty exciting.”

Another element that is specific to the S.A.T. is their proficiency for Close Quarter Battle. To reflect this expertise, Echo will be equipped with the SuperNova and MP5SD4 as primary weapons, and the PM9 and P229 as secondary weapons. These firearms allow for rapid motions and precise CQB feats.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon for Free

Ubisoft now offers Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon for free. This is the latest freebie in their ongoing 30th anniversary celebration that has seen the release of one free game per month since June (there will be one more free release next month). You have a limited time to pick up a copy, but once you do it will be permanently associated with your Ubisoft account. Here's the pitch:
This month we offer you Far Cry® 3: Blood Dragon, THE Kick-Ass Cyber Shooter. Welcome to an 80's vision of the future. The year is 2007 and you are Sergeant Rex Colt, a Mark IV Cyber Commando. Your mission: get the girl, kill the baddies, and save the world. Experience every cliché of a VHS era vision of a nuclear future, where cyborgs, blood dragons and mutants collide.

Far Cry is one of the first open world Ubisoft created. The game was first introduced to the public at E3 2001 as X-Isle. At that time, Ubisoft showed an impressive open-world of forest inhabited by dinosaurs, supported by the powerful Cry-engine from Crytek.

The co-developed game by Ubisoft and Crytek changed name and adapted its context to become Far Cry in March 2004. From the beginning the game offered the root of an open world: large playground, freedom of choice and initiative to the player, emerging gameplays.

Travelling from Exotic islands to the Himalayas, from Stone Age to modern days, the game each time offers more possibilities to fight, shoot and destroy: dynamic fires, wild animals, exotic means of transportation… And as a publisher, we have been always amazed by the imagination of players when they experiment these tools.

New Metro Game Plans?

The Metro 2035 website is home to the latest novel in the Metro series, offering snippets from the book and word on future plans (thanks reddit). These apparently include a new game in the series that began with Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light. It's not clear how directly this relates to the new book, as they just call this the "next Metro video game." They don't offer a lot of additional details other than listing this for 2017 and saying, "It all adds up to something. Where the books end their story, the game will pick it up. An era of great discoveries lies ahead…" It should be noted that this information may not be completely up-to-date, as they list the Metro 2035 novel as a 2015 release that is available for preorder. Here's word on the book:
The final part of the trilogy takes us back to Artyom and his struggle to get the people back to the above world they once ruled. This is a standalone story that can be read independently from the previous books and games — yet for those who have been following Artyom from the very beginning, Metro 2035 crowns the saga in its own way. Characters of all the books and games meet here, their destinies intertwine, and everything you knew about the world of Metro is turned upside down…

EA Seeks Need for Speed Arena TM

The EUIPO website shows Electronic Arts filed a trademark in July for a computer game called Need for Speed Arena. A new installment in the racing series is basically a given, so this is just a strong indication of its possible title. This is from four months ago, but says the application is still under review. Here's exactly what EA wants it to cover: "Computer game software; downloadable computer game software via a global computer network and wireless devices; video game software. Entertainment services, namely, providing an on-line computer game; Provision of information relating to electronic computer games provided via the Internet." Thanks VG247.
