4A Games Sci-Fi Tease?

4A Games tweets a tease about their next project, circularly referring to Facebook, which points back to Twitter. The posts include teaser images suggesting the Metro developer is working on a science fiction game. There's analysis of this on VG247 where they note clues suggesting a countdown to an announcement on October 7th for a virtual reality title. October 7th happens to be the date of the third Oculus Connect conference, which supports the VR theory.

Star Wars Battlefront Death Star for Season Pass Holders Next Week

A new trailer from Star Wars Battlefront offers a look at the Death Star expansion from the Star Wars action game. This will be released on Tuesday for season pass holders, and will go into general release a few weeks after that. The description of the clip offers more details on what the expansion will include:

Coming in September, Season Pass holders will receive our third digital expansion pack, *Star Wars* Battlefront: Death Star. Players will experience five new maps – on ground and in space – new weapons and Star Cards and two new heroes, the fearsome bounty hunter Bossk and everyone’s favorite Wookiee, Chewbacca.

Board the Death Star and blast foes with the new K-16 Bryar Pistol or TL-50t Heavy Repeater. Take your Starfighters to space in an all-new game mode and even hop into the cockpits of Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced or Luke Skywalker’s Red Five X-Wing. If the Force is strong with you, attempt a trench run to take down the Empire’s ultimate weapon.

Battle.net Adds Paid Name Changes

Battle.net announces the launch of a BattleTag change service for those who no longer feel the connection to 666xxDEATHBRINGERxx420 or whatever alias once seemed like a good idea. They are still permitting one free mulligan under the new system, so your first change will be on the house. They offer a brief FAQ covering the process:

If I want to change my BattleTag, does it have to be something unique?
BattleTags do not need to be unique. You can use any name you want, as long as it follows our Naming Policy. Each BattleTag is assigned a numeric ID to create a unique identifier (for example, FallenSlayer#3592).

Will changing my BattleTag affect my friends list?
Your friends will now automatically see you listed under your new BattleTag, but otherwise your friends list will not be affected by this change.

Will new accounts still get a free name change upon creation?
Yes. All new Battle.net accounts will continue to receive one free BattleTag change upon creation.

Out of the Blue

Just caught the news that "Crazy Eddie" Antar recently died. This will only be significant to New Yorkers above a certain age, but at one point Crazy Eddie commercials dominated the local airwaves with their craziness. Eddie is not to be confused with Jerry Carroll, the local disk jockey who became the ubiquitous face of the company in hundreds of fast-talking ads. The City Journal has a profile of the Antar and his business, which would make quite a movie (like American Hustle on a much smaller and sleazier level). There's more on this in the Wikipedia. Ah, the memories. His prices were so low he was practically giving it all away.
