Grim Dawn Crucible Mode DLC Released

New Crucible Mode DLC is now available for Grim Dawn, Crate Entertainment's Windows action/RPG. This is available on GOG.com and Steam, and each site currently has the base game on sale. Here's word on what it adds:

The Crucible DLC introduces a challenging new arena gameplay mode to the Action RPG Grim Dawn. Enter the Crucible, a harsh battleground filled with waves of Grim Dawn’s deadliest fiends. There you will engage in magnificent combat for the amusement of the Crucible’s mysterious overlord, Lokarr. But he is not a cruel master: endure his trials and be rewarded with vast wealth; fail, and know only his scorn.
Countless combatants have fallen prey to the Crucible’s brutal machinations. Will you survive where others have fallen? Or will the arena’s monstrosities, traps, and dark magic get the best of you?

The Crucible is an alternate game mode available to all Main Campaign characters, starting at level 1.

Hue This Month

Publisher Curve Digital announces Hue is coming on August 23 to Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PlayStation Vita. This puzzle/platformer from developer Fiddlesticks uses a clever color-changing mechanic to manipulate the game world. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Patched; Free MUA DLC Plans

The community hub for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 has posts indicating a patch went live yesterday in the superhero action sequel. The release of the two MUA games on Steam had a bunch of problems, and it looks like the first fixes have rolled in. GameInformer has details on the patch, as well as word that free DLC for the first game is coming:

The PC patch addresses a number of issues. These include:

  • Controller mapping improvements that address both Xbox One and Xbox 360 buttons, triggers, and a problem specifically with the A button
  • General improvements to audio and fixes for the crackling sounds
  • Improvements to player invitations for Marvel Ultimate Alliance
  • UI updates and fixes for desync/disconnection issues when playing online

DLC should be out in the coming weeks for Ultimate Alliance on all three platforms (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC). The additional characters are already included in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. This will be a free update. We’ll update when it’s available.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege Skull Rain Released

The promised Skull Rain expansion is now available for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft's first-person shooter. UbiBlog offers a previously released trailer and explains how this includes a free map for everyone while still offering perks for season pass holders:

The third major content update for Rainbow Six Siege is now available, bringing with it two new Operators from Brazil’s elite BOPE – Caveira and Capităo – as well as a highly destructible new map set in a Brazilian favela. Operation Skull Rain also introduces a Tactical Realism mode aimed at veteran players, which strips away nearly all of the HUD elements and pushes teammates to stay in constant communication.

As with previous updates, the map is free to all Rainbow Six Siege players, while the new Operators are available immediately to Season Pass holders, who have exclusive access to them for seven days. For their part, the new Operators bring potentially game-changing new abilities to bear on the action, with Capităo packing an asphyxiating, oxygen-burning crossbow and Caveira able to move silently and interrogate enemies to reveal opposing players on the map. Rounding out the package are a new angled grip attachment that speeds up switching between hip fire and ADS, and a surrender system that lets your team vote to forfeit a match if things aren’t going your way before the third round.

Operation Skull Rain is available now as an update for Rainbow Six Siege on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

GTA Online Stunt Race Creator

Rockstar Games Social Club announces the release of an update for Grand Theft Auto V is now automatically available. This adds the GTA Online Stunt Race Creator and a new Entourage mode for the open-world action game. This trailer shows off the Stunt Race Creator and how it can create new challenges for your fellow online criminals. Here's the news:

The Stunt Race Creator features newly refined tools, allowing you to quickly snap and stack objects together, make branching tracks with split checkpoints, and so much more. Use Raised Tracks, Tubes, Loops and more to make massive ascents and breakneck plummets. With over 250 new Stunt Props now at your disposal, tracks can spiral through the skyscrapers of the Los Santos Skyline, dive through bridges and summit Mount Chiliad. Customize your creation with dangerous obstacles like flaming rings, speed boosts, oversized soccer balls, bowling pins and more.

For some general guidance to get you started on constructing and sharing your very own Stunt Races, we've created a handy PDF guide that is available alongside our Creator Guide series at Social Club.

Today’s update also brings a brand new Adversary Mode for the combat-ready populace of Los Santos. Entourage requires tactical teamwork for Bodyguards to transport a well-armored and armed Target to a designated Extraction Point, all the while battling a team of Assassins attempting to take down the Target. The Extraction Point along with all Assassins are only visible to the Target on their mini-map – the Bodyguards must rely on communication to safely transport the Target and themselves to the goal.

Out of the Blue

Today is the canoe regatta that serves as an informal annual reunion for my summer camp. This is something I've attempted to attend for the past few years, so this may sound familiar. In fact, this has often meant a half-day of work here, but I don't know that will be the case this time. It varies from year-to-year, but I suspect fewer of my old buddies are coming this year. As a result, I'm picturing making a brief appearance and departing, which won't be noticeable here. But there is a small chance that enough alums will show up that a spontaneous outing may occur. If that happens, I may end up sticking around for dinner and adult beverages. So if no updates appear here later today, there's no need to come looking for me unless you are bringing more beer.
