Sean Murray tweets the news that development of No Man's Sky is
complete, illustrated by a photograph of the development team and the gold
master disc. It was announced in May
that the procedurally generated space game was delayed until August 9th-12th,
and it sounds like this puts it on track this time. Here's word from the Hello
Games founder: "It's happened. No Man's Sky just went gold. I'm so incredibly
proud of this tiny team. 4 years of emotions." Thanks

AMD now offers new
Radeon Software Crimson Edition version 16.7.1 drivers for AMD accelerators.
Two of the three notes they highlight relate to fixes for the issues that could
cause RX 480 graphics cards to draw excessive power: Radeon Software
Crimson Edition 16.7.1 Highlights
- The Radeon™ RX 480’s power distribution has been
improved for AMD reference boards, lowering the current drawn from the PCIe
bus.
- A new “compatibility mode” UI toggle has been made
available in the Global Settings menu of Radeon Settings. This option is
designed to reduce total power with minimal performance impact if end users
experience any further issues. This toggle is “off” by default.
- Performance improvements for the Polaris
architecture that yield performance uplifts in popular game titles of up to
3% [1]. These optimizations are designed to improve the performance of the
Radeon™ RX 480, and should substantially offset the performance impact for
users who choose to activate the "compatibility" toggle.
Codemasters announces that F1 2016 multiplayer support will accommodate up to 22
racers per game, and will introduce features such as the formation lap and
manual starts.
This post has the details along with screenshots and
a new trailer. Here's
a bit on multiplayer support in the racing sequel: “Increasing the
multiplayer support to 22 players was extremely important to us,” added Lee. “We
want to be able to fill the whole grid with human players to create those great
race moments and stories. It also provides greater support for online leagues.
With multiplayer support for up to 22 drivers, F1 2016 allows players to form a
full grid of human players across the 21 circuits featured in the 2016 FIA
FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, including the tight Baku street circuit, the
latest addition to the calendar. In single player, gamers are able to create
their own legend in the expansive Career Mode which stretches for up to ten
seasons and includes drama both on and off the track. Continue here to read the full story.
Epic Games offers this
trailer to help introduce Greystone, a new Paragon hero that will join their
early access MOBA on July 12th.
This
update has more on the character, and oddly the entirety of the text is
listed as a tl;dr: The TL;DR on Greystone is that he is a fighter who
thrives in team fights and excels on the front lines. Using “Assault the Gates”
to close the gap on high-priority targets, Greystone then activates “Make Way”
dealing damage in an area around him. He doesn’t mind taking a few blows since
his “Stoic” ability grants him passive bonus resistances. When Greystone’s
opponents think they've bested him, he turns to stone and is respawned through
his ultimate ability, “Reforged.” With his spirit crashing down from above,
Greystone returns from the dead with a portion of his HP and full Mana while
damaging and knocking up enemies around him. Continue here to read the full story.
Meet
Your Match Update Day 2 on the Team Fortress 2 website declares "all out
war." It's not as dramatic as all that, but it does outline a vote that's
underway between the Pyro and the Heavy to decide which class will receive an
overhaul first. It's pretty safe to say they are not exaggerating when they call
this "the biggest election of the year." In other Team Fortress 2 news,
the Team Fortress
YouTube channel now offers four new Vine-sized videos showing off some
character dancing. Thanks Ant.
The Evolve countdown continues to tick
away while 2K reveals more about the Evolve rework that was
revealed last night, saying the asymmetrical shooter will now be known as

and a launch trailer,
and offer this outline of the plan: Evolve as you know it has been
completely overhauled and is being re-launched on PC today as Evolve Stage 2,
with new game design, gameplay mechanics, and improved gameplay balance and
system performance. Not only that, but starting today you can play Evolve Stage

Headup Games announces July 28th is the release date for SEUM: Speedrunners
from Hell, a game right up Ricky Bobby's alley. They also announce that in
the month since the release of the
playable demo players have managed to rack up over 1.5 million deaths, all as
quickly as possible. Word is that some will be receiving closed beta keys
between now and then: [A] month ago the demo of SEUM: Speedrunners from
Hell was released and by now more than 1.5 Million (virtual) deaths were
recorded - it proved that it is indeed a bastard child of Quake 3 and Super Meat
Boy!
The diabolic speedrunner will be available on July 28. In addition, the
Closed BETA is nearly finished and keys will be sent out in the course of the
next week. It will contain all 100 maps of the full game, most of them in their
final state.
Rockstar Games announces that the "Cunning Stunts" update will come to
Grand Theft Auto Online on July 12th, bringing naughty wordplay and an
"over-the-top evolution to racing" in the multiplayer version of Grand Theft
Auto V. They offer
this trailer to show off how stunning, err, cunning this makes the open
world action game. Here's word: Be daring, defy gravity and punch your
fears straight in the mouth with Cunning Stunts, a visually surreal and
over-the-top evolution to racing in GTA Online, coming Tuesday, July 12th.
Stunt Races happen on a massive scale, towering above the Los Santos skyline or
soaring between treacherous blades of RON Alternates Windmill Farm. Vehicles
tear upside-down through loops and tubes, launch off ramps with extra propulsion
from speed strips, diverge and merge across multiple pathways, and speed through
gigantic rings of fire in death-defying new Races.
The jumps, gaps, terrain, and obstacles in each Race are tailored to match the
attributes of specific vehicle classes, including new Super cars, Sports cars
and Motorbikes. And of course, racing livery-clad vehicles deserve appropriately
tatted and dressed drivers, sporting new motocross gear, racing suits, helmets
and a host of other additions. Stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for full
details when Cunning Stunts launches next Tuesday.
Thank you all for the kind words regarding the site's anniversary. This wouldn't
be a thing without all of you, so thank you for all the support over the years
as well.
My ten dollar bolt arrived from eBay yesterday, and minutes later the
broken arm on my Aeron chair was working as good as new, just like in the
expression. That means it's even better than it was for the last couple of years
before it broke, as the height adjustment was slipping all that time (clearly
also related to the worn bolt), and now that is fixed too. The hardest part of
the whole process was removing the back of the
chair, as the bolts holding that had 16 years to settle into place, so it took a lot of effort to
loosen them. I couldn't be happier with the outcome on this, so thanks again to
Verno and others for the suggestions that put me on track to repair the chair rather than replace
it.
