ValveTime.net has an image from
a Valve Destinations-Importing Tutorial they explain shows that for about 24
hours an example screenshot showed a directory called Left4Dead3, taken as an
indication that Valve may be working on a new installment in the co-op shooter
franchise, which would mark the first time they'd managed a third installment in a
series. The image has since been altered to hide that directory name, even
though they note the original "leak" seemed deliberate. There are also
some oddities about the amount of time spent in Left 4 Dead 2 by Tristan
Reidford, the artist responsible for the leak that could also be taken as an
indication that something is up here. Thanks

A
post to the Overwatch Forums by Jeff Kaplan says Blizzard's "top priority"
for Overwatch right now is to clear up a progression bug in competitive
play on control maps: Last night, though, we uncovered a bug that is
causing skill rating to not be adjusted properly in our Control Maps (Nepal,
Lijiang Tower, Ilios). This bug is a top priority right now and we're hoping to
have a fix ASAP.

Hello
Planet #6 on the ManiaPlanet Blog has an update from Nadeo on ManiaPlanet,
their gaming platform, as well as the latest on their mania for games
TrackMania and ShootMania ( QuestMania goes unmentioned). As
usual, this is a lengthy post, and covers a wide variety of topics in catching
up with everything the developer is doing (thanks Frans). The conclusion
indicates they are hoping the company's roughest stretches are behind them: We
have spent a lot of time underwater and we know that’s difficult to wait,
including for us. That’s why it’s also very important to stay positive in
difficult times. There is only a few months to hold on, and i hope that the
ascending slope of the upcoming years be more clearer as we get there. We are
also working on production and visuals, but this will take more time before
we’ll be able to show this work. Ubisoft is fully behind this project, and
thanks to the players who have been there all those years is seems obvious that
there is something amazing to do with Maniaplanet.

After a series of hints an leaks culminating in an accidental
reveal, 2K Games now officially announces BioShock: The Collection, a
remastered bundle of BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite, all of each
games' DLC, and a commentary track from Ken Levine, saying this will come to PCs
and consoles on September 13th. BioShock Infinite is actually still pretty
up-to-date, so for the PC this will still be the same version currently
available, and they also note that the multiplayer support that seemed to be the
driving force behind BioShock 2 is being dropped in this package. Here's
an announcement trailer
with a look at some of these remastered graphics for the first-person shooter
series. Here's word: It’s been nine years since Irrational Games and 2K
took you on a terrifying journey to the depths of the underwater city of Rapture
with BioShock. Five years since you returned to Rapture in BioShock 2. Three
years since you grabbed a skyhook and sailed across the floating city of
Columbia in BioShock Infinite. And on September 13, 2016 (September 15 in
Australia and September 16 internationally), you can relive these award-winning
adventures or experience them for the very first time remastered for current-gen
consoles and digital PC with BioShock: The Collection.
Countless fans have asked for this since the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One arrived
– and we listened! Working with Blind Squirrel Games, we’ve remastered BioShock,
BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC making
them look better than ever*. BioShock: The Collection brings the three titles
together for the first time, complete with all single-player DLC** and a
never-before-seen video series, “Director’s Commentary: Imagining BioShock,”
which includes insights from Ken Levine.
If you’ve never experienced the series before, now is the time to play it and
see for yourself why the award-winning BioShock franchise has topped countless
“Best-Of” lists and garnered more than 125 awards including two BAFTA honors, as
well as many Best of E3, Best of Gamescom, and Game of the Year accolades from
respected outlets such as IGN, GameSpot, Game Informer, and many more . The
weapons, plasmids, levels, and character models that shocked you years ago have
been reskinned and retextured to look better than ever. On top of that, all
single-player DLC created for all three games comes loaded in one package. The
bundled content for BioShock: The Collection includes: Continue here to read the full story.
A
Steam forum post has word on changes to The Orion Project, an early
access game that allows players to do battle against space dinosaurs. The game
made news the other day in a headline that
read, "Developer says Activision had Valve pull its game from Steam over
allegedly stolen Call of Duty guns." Therefore the follow-up headline
should be something like, developer says stolen Call of Duty guns will be
removed from its game, as the follow-up admits some assets were purloined. The
post from David James expresses a little frustration that the game received a
DMCA takedown request over the reported weapon similarities, but then also
admits to seeing evidence directly from Activision regarding other stolen assets
that haven't yet been reported, saying "it became immediately apparent that
blatant rips were made." David explains the volunteer artist was fired, and goes
into the reasons this project has had to deal with so many accusations of art
theft over the course of its development. Thanks
DSOGaming.
Thanks to everyone who had thoughts on the broken arm suffered by my Aeron
chair, in particular to Verno, who suggested eBay might be a source of parts.
This put me onto just how fixable these chairs are, and I have a replacement
bolt on the way that should do the trick. This cost all of 10 dollars and if it
doesn't result in a complete repair, replacing the whole surrounding mechanism won't be that much more
expensive that that. It can be fun to get new toys, but once the old toys hit a certain
age, it's more fun to keep them going, so the prospect of getting more life out
of this chair after 16 years is making me very happy, and certainly helps
justify its initial expense.
