Archived News:
2K Games is failing to keep plans to remaster the BioShock series very secret,
as there have been a few leaks along the way.
IGN has the latest on the topic, with a screenshot of a listing for
BioShock: The Collection that appeared briefly on the 2K website before
being taken down again. Whether or not that slip-up was unintentional, there's
also a new
BioShock tweet saying, "Welcome to Rapture! Would you kindly follow
@BioShock?" There's nothing truly known about this, but much of the speculation
mentions remastered versions of the thee BioShock titles for the Xbox One and
PlayStation 4 rather than PCs.
AMD now offers new version 16.6.2 Crimson Edition Windows drivers for Radeon
accelerators. These offer support for the new RX 480 cards, along with new
"WattMan" utility, a CrossFire toggle, a World of Tanks Crossfire
profile, and more. You can find the download along with the complete release
notes
on this page.
The promised head start period is now underway in
Riders of Icarus for those who have
preordered a Founder's Pack
for the mounted combat MMOG. Nexon celebrates the news with a
new developer's blog
talking about lessons learned in the closed beta and open beta testing that's to
begin next week. They also discuss the future and plans for new mounts, a PvP
battlefield system, guild battles, and much more. Here's a bit on their efforts
at making the free-to-play side aspect of the game more rewarding to better
appeal to western audiences: As we prepare Riders of Icarus for release,
the team has focused on tailoring the game to the western audience. Our primary
goal with this release is to allow players to enjoy the core game without
spending money, and to provide a satisfying experience when players chose to
spend. We aimed to achieve that goal in three ways:
- Substantially expand the opportunities for players
to earn Elluns, the premium currency, via gameplay
- Lower the costs and penalties for upgrading
equipment through tempering or, at some levels, completely remove the
penalties
- Overhaul the items available in Ellora’s Shop (the
in-game cash shop) so that the items for sale in western regions would not
provide a competitive advantage that cannot be achieved through gameplay

UbiBlog talks with the developers of Star Trek- Bridge Crew, learning
more about this upcoming game that will take players onto the bridge of a
Federation starship through virtual reality. Here's a bit on how this works:
The players are going to decide which stations they want to play. We’ll
give them an interface to do that. Also, one thing that’s not currently in the
game, but we’ll be adding very soon is a briefing room, or ready room, as it’s
sometimes called. Before the mission starts, players will be seated around a
table together. They’ll be facing each other in this close, social environment.
At that point, that’s when we’re thinking they’re going to decide on the roles,
the mission, or discuss strategy. Once they’ve made that decision, they go onto
the bridge.

The Technomancer website, the
Facebook page for the sci-fi action/RPG indicates it is now available for
Windows and consoles as planned, both digitally and at retail. Here's word on
the game from a
previous update: You are a Technomancer, a warrior harnessing, thanks
to an innate talent, destructive electrical-based powers, amplified by your
cybernetic implants. Both respected and feared by all, Technomancers are
fearsome warriors trained from a young age to fight. You are one of them, about
to finally pass your initiation rite to become a fully-fledged Technomancer.
Combine three different fighting styles with your Technomancy, a supernatural
control over electricity, to fight your way across the Martian deserts. But, as
illustrated in our "Survive on Mars" trailer, all situations aren't necessarily
to be dealt with brute strength. Choose between combat, diplomacy and trickery
to resolve quests. Gain experience to level up your character, and learn new
skills or upgrade perks across 4 unique skill trees. Loot, buy and craft more
powerful equipment and weaponry for yourself and for the companions you will
recruit along your adventure, and with whom you will nurturing relationships.
On the run from the Secret Police and confronted by the harsh realities of the
Red Planet, you must undertake a quest that takes you through forgotten
paradises, cities lost under the ice, and dystopian shanties sprawled across
Mars' dusty embrace. Faced with the cruelty of Mars' iron-fist enforcers and
alien wild-life, can you survive long enough to forge the destiny of
Mars?

I'm not sure if it's a goner, but my Herman Miller Aeron chair suffered a
serious setback this morning. A few years ago I found a way to keep the left arm
of the chair from gradually lowering itself, but this morning the left arm of
the chair broke off altogether. Broke is actually a mild description, it
basically exploded. I'll fully evaluate the prospects of repairing this when I
get the chance, but a quick look shows there is at least one broken metal part
in the midst, so I don't know yet if I need a new chair. If I do, it will be
interesting to evaluate the lines of gaming chairs that have emerged in recent
years, and see if they tempt me into trying something new. It should be hard to
convince me to get something different, as, though this Aeron chair was pretty
expensive when I got it, it has been helping me avoid back pain for over 16
years now.
