AMD support offers new version 16.6.1 hotfix Crimson Edition reference
drivers for AMD graphics cards. These add support for Mirror's Edge Catalyst and
Paragon, and also include a new AMD Crossfire profile for Dark Souls III. While
these include a number of improvements, they also warn of a few remaining
issues:
- A few game titles may fail to launch or crash if
the AMD Gaming Evolved overlay is enabled. A temporary workaround is to
disable the AMD Gaming Evolved "In Game Overlay".
- Battlefield™ 4 may experience crashes when using
Mantle. As a work around users are suggested to switch to DirectX®11.
- Doom™ some game levels may experience shimmering
textures.
- The Division™ may hang when using Quad AMD
Crossfire™ technology. As a workaround users are recommended to disable AMD
Crossfire™ technology mode.
- Radeon Settings gaming profile options for Uplay
applications may not take effect.
- Forza Motorsport 6: Apex™ may exhibit brightness
flickering when using AMD FreeSync™ technology.
- Frame Rate Target Control gaming profiles may fail
to enable for some games.
- On some AMD XConnect™ technology external GPU
enclosures, a TDR may be observed when the dGPU is set to primary display
and the laptop display is set to extended display with video playback.

Cliffski's Blog announces Democracy 3: Electioneering, a new
expansion in the works at Positech for Democracy 3, their political simulation
sequel. As the title implies, this add-on will concentrate more on the election
process itself, as the base version of the game focuses on governing. This
currently is projected for release "probably" late next month, and the hope is
to make this also work with the game's Africa expansion. Here's an overview:
Yay! New stuff! For a long time, the Democracy games have basically been
‘government’ games, not election games. Making electioneering work in the
context of Democracy 3 was not easy, because frankly every country has a very
different electoral process, and electoral system. The US is NOTHING like the UK
(We don’t have primaries or caucuses, for starters), and the way elections are
fought is very different over the various countries that Democracy 3 models.
(Another example: in the UK we have no political TV advertising). Eventually, I
decided to take a few key areas of the election process, the ones that seemed
universal, and model those, whilst letting the actual ‘mechanics’ of how an
election is fought to remain abstract.
Eurogamer says a mishap over at IGN revealed some of the marketing materials
for Watch Dogs 2 that are part of the site's big advertising
splash reveal of the upcoming open-world hacking sequel. They say this
revealed the game will be set in San Francisco and is slated for release on
November 15th. Whether these details are accurate should be clear soon enough,
as a countdown is running for the game
that will conclude at noon EDT tomorrow.
Well, to basically repeat my post from Sunday, I'll say I'm feeling a little
better (again), as it ended up taking a couple of days to get past whatever
little bug I encountered. It's been no big deal, just a couple of days of mild
fever and some aches and pains, but I do wish I knew what this was. I've been
wrong about this already, but I think I'm really done with it now.
