a post on ThisGenGaming with an image of a poster, suggesting
a new installment in the zombie series will be announced soon (presumably
surrounding the imminent E3 2016). The poster is a bit blurry, but Kotaku lends
an endorsement to its possible authenticity, saying they have seen a separate
image of the same posted from a different angle.

Jay Wilson tweets of his
departure from Blizzard Entertainment, saying: "I'm leaving to pursue my
original passion, writing. It's what I was doing when I fell into this job, and
I've always wanted to return to it." Wilson served as project lead on Diablo
III until January 2013, a run
that was not without its
controversy, and while it's not clear what he's been working on since then,
his Twitter profile still refers to him as "Game Director @ Blizzard." Thanks

Arizona!

Ubisoft and Blue Byte are offering the Big Five Pack, a new DLC pack that's free
to all owners of the strategy sequel. Here's word on the free pack as well as
the next bit of premium DLC that will follow: The Big Five Pack brings
Economic Warfare to the game. Player can enter the stock market and compete with
the Big Five, the five most influential corporations, for shares, influence and
industrial dominance. Competing with the Big Five offers new challenges and
grants special rewards and powerful buffs for a richer endgame experience.
Players will have several tools at their disposal to ensure their corporation’s
supremacy over the Big Five. A new resource will be introduced: influence. In
the stock market, players can buy other companies’ shares during auctions. With
Espionage, players can gather information and unlock special auctions to gain
advantage over the Big Five.
Gaining the upper hand in this economic warfare grants players several bonuses.
Owning all the shares from another company unlocks additional buffs and reaching
industry dominance will grant a special reward. A new public building is also
available as a reward for entering the stock market: the trading floor.
On top of introducing Economic Warfare, the Big Five update brings new features
to Anno 2205: the sector effects. The Calamities, like the Hacker Attack or
Climate Warfare, are temporary and can be removed by solving a counter measure
quest, while the Sector Traits affect regions permanently in a positive or
negative way. The building quick view also includes industry types and
additional improvements in order to help players craft their strategy for
industry dominance, and new ornaments are available for the metropolis.
On July 20, the Anno 2205 Orbit DLC will allow players to build their own
modular space station, which offers a brand new science and research system to
upgrade different areas in their corporations. Anno 2205 Orbit DLC is part of
the Anno 2205 Season Pass but will also be available as a standalone
purchase.

Deep Silver announces Agents of Mayhem, an open-world action game from
Volition coming to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 next year, confirming rumors
that began circulating latst
month. They say this is a new "comic hero universe" from the Saints Row
developer, featuring an organization called Agents of M.A.Y.H.E.M., and we just
have to thank them for leaving the periods out of the title.
IGN has a trailer and we wouldn't be surprised to hear more about this next
week at E3, but in the meantime, here's what we know: Volition are back
with a brand new game in their latest open-world epic - Agents of Mayhem® coming
to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in 2017.
The developers of the highly acclaimed and hugely successful Saints Row series
have taken it to the next level with the creation of a new comic hero universe.
Meet the Agents of M.A.Y.H.E.M. (the Multinational Agency for Hunting Evil
Masterminds) – a motley outfit of unique and diverse Super Agents recruited from
around the world to thwart the destructive schemes of the evil supervillain
organization L.E.G.I.O.N. (the League of Evil Gentlemen Intent on Obliterating
Nations).
Featuring an original storyline, trademark over-the-top open-world gameplay, and
the look-and-feel of a distinctive superhero cosmos, Agents of Mayhem is pure
Volition. The title exists as a part of the Saints Row universe, sharing certain
story elements, symbolism, and design inspiration with the multi-million selling
franchise. Building on the skill of the AAA studio to continuously surprise,
endear, and engage players, Agents of Mayhem represents the culmination of over
a decade of open world experience and creativity.
In a simultaneous global assault, LEGION has taken control over the nations of
the world and the only force left to stop them is MAYHEM. Led by the mysterious
and no-nonsense Persephone Brimstone, MAYHEM’s elite Super Agents are called to
the city of Seoul, South Korea. Led by LEGION Minister Doctor Babylon and his
diabolical lieutenants, a nefarious plot is set in motion to build a
world-altering device that will grant unrivaled power to the supervillain
organization. In order to stop LEGION and take back the world, the Agents of
Mayhem will traverse a sprawling urban battlefield from the ground to the
rooftops and team up as a super-agent collective to stop LEGION at any cost.
Success is far from guaranteed and collateral damage will be substantial, but
it’s all in a day’s work for the Agents…
Twin
Galaxies tweets about
this post floating the possibility of Kickstarting a revival of Blood,
the Build-engine first-person shooter released by Monolith in 1997 (thanks
Janic). Monolith Founder Jace Hall, who has been working with Twin Galaxies for
a while now, is polling interest in such a project. The first hurdle standing in
the way of such a revival would be untangling the rights to the IP, and Jace
outlines where they stand before mysteriously saying they are still somewhat of
a puzzle. Here's a bit that covers that and his pitch: For those that
don't know, Blood is a first-person shooter video game developed by a company I
founded called Monolith Productions and published by GT Interactive Software.
The shareware version was released for the PC on March 5, 1997, while the full
version was released on May 31, 1997 in North America, and June 20, 1997 in
Europe.
Many feel that Blood was easily the best of the three major Build engine games,
voicing the opinion that Blood was "one of the most underrated shooters of the
whole decade” and that “Blood took its gameplay to sophisticated new heights and
offered referential overtones with an even greater degree of refinement (than
other similar games of the period.)"
For this feeling and opinion to last nearly 20 years through generations of
gamers is a fantastic testament to the talent of everyone who was involved with
bringing the game into existence.
So anyway, I started to wonder if perhaps there might be enough interest out
there in seeing this truly revived?
Perhaps its multiplayer BLOODBATH could even evolve to an eSport! ;)
Maybe someone should start a crowd funding campaign to gauge and prove interest?
You see, Monolith sold the publishing rights for Blood and its sequel to GT
Interactive. GTI was later acquired by Infogrames, which has since been renamed
to Atari. Over the last 15 years, Atari has been divided, bought, sold and
reconfigured numerous times. Monolith itself was acquired by Warner Bros.
Entertainment, which now theoretically owns the Blood trademark and intellectual
property.
But the truth is that the rights status and the entire history are a bit complex
and basically there are around 3 people on Earth who truly understand that
complexity, none of which are currently at Atari or WB.
Since it is my name and signature that is on all the Blood related contracts and
deals - assuming a large enough crowd funding effort, I know I could help move
the needle on this. But do enough people care?
Headup Games and PineStudio announce the release of a playable demo for EUM:
Speedrunners From Hell for Windows, OS X, and Linux, offering the chance to
appreciate what they mean when they call this "the world's only competitive
heavy metal first-person speed platformer." The demo is available through
itchi.io and
Steam. Here's word on the
demo: "Run, jump, fly and teleport through 10+1 deadly arenas – each more
devilish than the last. Alternatively, find in every level a hidden beer can or
even the easter eggs the developers of PineStudio added!" Here's more on the
game: SEUM: Speedrunners from Hell is the world’s only competitive heavy
metal first-person platformer. Like an unholy child of Quake 3 and Super Meat
Boy, SEUM is truly hardcore and focuses on speed and fast reactions. Race across

Overwatch falls to number two on the
GFK Chart-Track PC Top 30 Chart of the bestselling PC games in the U.K. for
last week, as the region's obsession with The Sims 4 continues unabated.
Total War: WARHAMMER, Football Manager 2016, and DOOM round
out the top five. Overwatch does remain number one on the
all platforms chart where there's also a new entry at number five: Dead
Island Definitive Edition. Here's
their roundup:
Activision’s ‘Overwatch’ (-54%) holds on to the crown for a second week
as it heads an unchanged Top 3.
‘Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End’ (-27%) is at No2 while Bethesda’s ‘Doom’ (-33%)
remains at No3. Price promotions and bundling (and perhaps an upcoming
tournament) continue to propel ‘Fifa 16’ (+65%) up the chart as it climbs back
to No4. The highest ranking new release comes in the form of a re-release as
‘Dead Island: Definitive Edition’ rises at No5. Koch Media combine re-mastered
versions of Dead Island and its sequel Dead Island: Riptide for PS4 and Xbox
One. The half term break continues to draw strong sales for more familiar faces
with ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ (+66%) the chief benefactor climbing four places to
No6. Koch Media’s second Top 10 title ‘Homefront: The Revolution’ (-36%) slips
six places to round of the Top 10 at No10. There’s also a new entry in the cult
One Piece series in the form of Bandai Namco’s ‘One Piece: Burning Blood’, which
makes its debut at No37.

As happens every year on this day, all I can do on the anniversary of D-Day is
marvel at the various amazing aspects of the Allied invasion of Europe during
World War II. The mind-boggling logistics involved are hard enough to fathom,
but whenever my movie-inspired imagination allows me to wonder what it must have
been like to be among those storming the beaches, my brain starts to lock up. It
is pretty much impossible for me to fathom the courage under fire this would
take.
