Developer Buddy Cops and publisher Devolver Digital announce the release of
OmniBus for Windows, OS X, and Linux,
humorously calling this the game of the year edition of the brand-new title.
They offer three ways to experience this: The standard (GotY) edition, a free
papercraft component to download and print, and a "Bus Driver Edition," which
includes an actual bus for $7,500. Here's
a trailer and here's
word on the game: OmniBus is the world's premier next-to-last gen physics
game about the most powerful bus in the universe that can’t stop or even slow
down for reasons incomprehensible to the simple human mind. OmniBus must
complete missions at the behest of citizens as its speed increases to unsafe
levels and without landing on its head or sides. OmniBus drivers will choose
from the bizarre mission mode, thrilling trick mode and versus multiplayer mode
for up to four players to achieve goals, set high scores, and receive total
enlightenment. Continue here to read the full story.
Slitherine now offers
Panzer Corps: U.S. Corps, the first of three planned expansions for
Panzer Corps, the World War II strategy game. Here's word on the roadmap to
victory in Europe: In U.S. Corps ’42 players start with “Operation Torch”
where brave but inexperienced American “rookies” land in the sands of North
Africa and join their allies.
They must take the lead on several actions against the French command in Morocco
and Algeria and then head eastwards, where they will face the remnants of the
Italo-German army in Tunisia in a total of 16 different scenarios.
The second expansion begins the year after. In U.S. Corps ‘43 the player’s goal
is to liberate Sicily and use it as base from where to land on mainland Italy.
The Allies have to overcome the resistance of the fascist army and open the road
to Rome during another new set of 16 scenarios.
The Corps will finally gain access to the “soft underbelly of Europe” and be
prepared for the final campaign.
In the third and final instalment of the mega campaign, U.S. Corps ’44 - ‘45,
players lead the largest amphibious invasion in history, and with it, the Battle
of Normandy.
The plan is to land on several beaches in northern France, then to push east
towards Berlin and finally put an end to the war for a total of 18 original
scenarios!

Developer Sloclap and publisher Devolver Digital announce Absolver, an
online combat RPG, saying this will come to PC and consoles next year. They plan
on unveiling the first media showing off the game next month at E3, and in the
meantime, here is what they are revealing about their plans: Independent
developer Sloclap and amateur martial artists Devolver Digital have announced
Absolver, an online combat RPG, set to arrive on PC and consoles in 2017.
Absolver puts players behind the mask of a Prospect, who has taken a sacred vow
and chosen to join the Absolvers, an elite corps of combatants fighting to
maintain stability in the world. Monitored by the Guides, the new rulers of the
fallen Adal Empire, players will wander these forsaken lands and encounter other
Prospects online in order to learn their place in this world and eventually
become Absolvers. Along the way, they will learn new combat styles and attacks,
and acquire better weapons, powers and armor. Battles between warriors are an
intense real-time flow of attacks, dodges, feints and counters, with all aspects
of gameplay customizable, including combat styles, weapons and even individual
attack sequences in the player's Combat Deck. Build a team of warriors to fight
side by side with you in the dungeon mines of Adal (PvE) or put your skill on
display in dedicated combat arenas (PvP) scattered across the land.
"The studio is excited to debut our first game with Devolver Digital and get it
into the hands of gamers and media at E3; Absolver is the result of our combined
experiences in game development and we believe that our team has created
something special together," said Pierre de Margerie, creative lead at developer
Sloclap. "We think the world would be a much better place if there were no guns.
Then we could finally focus on important things, like sword fighting and how to
kill a man with one punch."
Absolver will have hands-on demos for media and industry fancypants at E3 2016
at the Devolver Digital tailgate June 14 - 17 with gameplay set to debut on
Twitch June 13 at 5:00PM Pacific at twitch.tv/twitch.
"Our extensive, international focus groups illustrate that people want to be
able to punch faceless, nameless strangers over the internet," notes Devolver
Digital CFO Fork Parker. "Absolver is going to be your digital outlet for
real-time, fluid beatdowns of those that stand against you."
- Sprint -
Gamekicker. "Sprint is a 2D action platformer game where world affairs
in the game are designed to be an extension of the issues that our world
face. Take the role of Sprint as he journeys through the game to protect and
preserve Mother Nature from threats for the sustainability of nature for
future generations." Playable demo available.

No Man's Sky may be delayed, reports
Kotaku,
citing "sources," a reassurance that this is not something they just made up. We
kid, but it sounds like they've heard this from two independent informants,
which adds credibility to word that Hello Games' space game has suffered a
setback from its planned release next month.
They say the game no longer has a set release date, but that "we’re hearing it’s
been bumped until at least July or August." Here's more: A reliable
Kotaku source was the first to inform us of the delay. A second source, who
works at GameStop, said they received marketing materials today for No Man’s Sky
with the original June 21 release date. However, stores were informed that the
release date is no longer correct and that they should cover it up with a
“Coming Soon” label
A new live action trailer
from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has more on the "Mechanical Apartheid," the
inevitable backlash of human augmentation that will be our future replacement
for racism. Here's word: In 2027, mechanically-augmented people all over
the world suffered from extreme psychotic delusions, lost control of themselves,
and started attacking people. Millions died. Hundreds of thousands more were
injured and maimed. In the wake of this global catastrophe, society has become
divided by hatred, prejudice, and fear, with many countries now enacting harsh
laws. The most notable of these laws is the highly controversial “Human
Restoration Act”, aimed at isolating “Augs” and keeping them away from
“Naturals”. Continue here to read the full story.
Kasedo Games and Tesseract Interactive announce the release of Excubitor
on Steam, a Windows and
Linux action/strategy hybrid that combines elements of tower defense with a
twin-stick, bullet hell shooter. The
release trailer offers
a look at this in action, and here's word on the release: Developed by
Tesseract Interactive, players will be thrown into an epic struggle for survival
at the helm of the Hammerhead, a defence craft tasked with preventing the
destruction of its mothership, Antares, and the impending end of humanity.
Since Excubitor was Greenlit on Steam in December 2014, the team of Tesseract
and Kasedo Games have worked tirelessly to produce a game that will test all
gamers, whether they are shoot ‘em up or strategy fans.
Excubitor also challenges players to think strategically and make decisions
under enemy fire, whilst piloting the Hammerhead to defeat the waves of incoming
drones and colossal sized bosses Continue here to read the full story.
Funcom announces some financial maneuvering that the Norwegian developer
says greatly relieves them of much of the financial distress they first
revealed last year. They say that a $6.3
million USD private investment combined with some restructuring to improve their
equity position to around $4 million after previously being about $10 million in
the red. "This investment is a major turning point for the company," says Funcom
CEO Rui Casais. "Funcom has been making great games for more than twenty-three
years, but it is no secret that the company has had a strained financial
situation in recent years that made it challenging to fully realize our new
strategy and get back on the right track. This investment allows us to finally
do that." Here's more on what this means: Funcom has been working since
last year on preparing the company for its new strategy. Going forward, Funcom
is focusing on developing both smaller and larger scale games simultaneously in
both Oslo and North Carolina, and aims to experiment with new ideas,
technologies, and business models on the smaller projects that will serve to
benefit the larger projects. The first of these smaller games was ‘The Park’
which allowed ! the company to experiment with new technologies and acquire key
knowledge on how to successfully launch on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One
consoles.
Funcom’s largest project is currently ‘Conan Exiles’, an open-world survival
game that will launch into Early Access during late summer 2016. The company
announced last year that it has entered into a new partnership with Conan
Properties making it the preferred partner for all PC and console games based on
the ‘Conan the Barbarian’ brand, the first of which is ‘Conan Exiles’.
The company’s strengthened financial situation also allows it to continue
supporting and expanding its current live games. Funcom has one of the
longest-running portfolio of online games in the industry, with ‘Anarchy Online’
currently going on its fifteen years in operation, ‘Age of Conan’ on its eighth
year, and ‘The Secret World’ just about to celebrate its fourth
anniversary.

gameplay trailer shows off Anew: The Distant Light, an upcoming Windows
side-scrolling, action/exploration game from indie developer Resonator…
I finally got around to seeing Deadpool, a far cry from my failed goal of seeing
it in the theaters after word started trickling out about how great it is. I
regret not getting to see it then, but am so happy to have seen it at all, it
was just that amazing. Even with my expectations raised by everyone's rave
reviews, it was still better than anticipated, and, though not flawless, clearly
belongs in the pantheon of greatest comic movies. Bravo!
