Archived News:
Gearbox
announces that early access to Alani is now available in Battleborn, which
is the first of five such new characters planned for the shooter/MOBA. They
illustrate that news with a new
Alani skills overview
trailer and a let's
play video. They also take the opportunity to unveil another new character,
Pendles, a snake with feet, because he needs somewhere to put his cool kicks.
Here's word on him: INTRODUCING PENDLES!
Hailing from the water world of Akopos, and pals with Alani, Pendles is a
cold-blooded killer. No, literally. This anthropomorphized reptile will ssssneak
up on you, poison you, perforate you with dual kamas then – poof – disappear
without leaving a trace. Oh, yeah, and he wears a dope pair of sneakers. Get it?
“Ssssneaky”?!? Wears sneakers?!? (Fine…fine.) This Rogue’s rogue may be a
cold-blooded assassin-for-hire, but Ghalt felt was safer to have him on the
team, than not.
Pendles will be coming in the next couple months as the 27th Battleborn and will
be free for everyone with 47,500 credits earned in-game. He can also be unlocked
instantly using a (1) hero key, which are included in the season pass, saving
you the time it takes to earn the credits to otherwise unlock him. We’ll have
more info on Pendles, including his abilities and release date as, we get closer
to his release. Continue here to read the full story.
UbiBlog announces the new Conflict update is now available for Tom
Clancy's The Division, updating the game to version 1.2, and adding the
promised Incursion content.
This post has the complete patch notes, and here's the news on Incursion:
The second free update for The Division, Conflict, is available now for
all players on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Introducing a new Incursion, new endgame
challenges and four new gear sets for high-level players, it also brings
significant changes to the Dark Zone, along with bug fixes and gameplay tweaks.
The biggest addition is Clear Sky, a new Incursion that follows the events of
the previous Incursion, Falcon Lost. This time, Division Agents are tasked with
clearing out an anti-aircraft site in Columbus Circle, which is being used by
the Rikers to claim Manhattan’s supply drops. Additionally, players who clear
out all the Encounters and side missions in an area can now undertake Search and
Destroy missions. Completing those then gives you the chance to hunt High-Value
Targets, tough enemy leaders who now appear throughout the city. Even Operation
ISAC challenges will get more visibility, as they now yield exclusive rewards
and are integrated into the map screen.
Those who regularly venture into the Dark Zone will find that named enemies now
drop Sealed Caches, which yield gear, Division Tech, and Dark Zone currency when
extracted. Just be extra-careful when you’re extracting, because rival Agents
can now cut the rope once it’s been loaded up, instantly marking themselves as
Rogues as soon as they start in.
Finally, four new gear sets have been added, granting players powerful new buffs
and rewarding those who wear full sets with abilities that include automatic
reloading when weapons are holstered, the ability to defuse and re-use enemy
grenades, and more.
This announcement has the patch notes on a new version 0.8 patch that's now
available for SNOW, the free-to-play wintersports simulation for Windows and
Linux that's currently in early access
on Steam. The big news in
the new version is that it adds snowboarding and snowmobiling to the range of
frosty activities the game simulates.
This trailer offers a
look, and here's word: Poppermost worked hand in hand with core community
members to make snowboarding look and feel great from the first push, studying
the sport to pinpoint the nuanced differences between how snowboarders and
skiers share the mountain. The team will continue to fine-tune these mechanics
in ongoing updates with feedback from players. And in true SNOW style, a
handpicked selection of boards, bindings, boots and other gear from real-life
snowboarding brands like Ride are now available in the in-game store, with
additional brands to be revealed throughout the year.
Snowmobiles bring a new dimension of freedom to the game, as players can now
drive up the mountain. These powerful vehicles are accessible from anywhere,
making it easier than ever to get to those fresh powder cliff drops and
backcountry trails. Snowmobiles even have their own sets of tricks and maneuvers
for true adrenaline-seekers! Continue here to read the full story.
This new trailer
shows off a new Survival Arena mode, one of the enhancements in the Deadlight:
Director's Cut that differentiate it from the original game. Deep Silver uses
the occasion to announce that game will be released for Windows, Xbox One, and
PlayStation 4 on June 21st. Here are the details on the new mode: In the
all new Survival Arena Mode, pick-ups are essential to withstand the hordes,
such as in-map weapons and ammunition. Changing the game, different weapons will
also be introduced, including the Machine Gun, Molotov Cocktail and Sniper
Rifle. A further helping hand will be offered though medical kits scattered
across the map. Destructible environments are another strategic aid to look out
for, such as walls and surfaces which can be demolished to access untrodden
areas. Defenses can also be utilized to venture to new areas within the mode or
to halt zombies. The Survival Arena mode will include a Leaderboard with the
player rankings based on survival time. Continue here to read the full story.

Here's a bit: Overwatch takes place on a near-future Earth, where teams
of soldiers, scientists, adventurers, and oddities clash for control of key

Steam Greenlight -- Island Simulator 2016. "Don't be fooled by the name,
Island Simulator 2016 is so much more than your average simulator! With
three modes currently available (and more to come!) you'll have hours of fun
exploring lands in Survival Mode, Hunting Mode, and Campaign Mode!"
Walked out of the eye doctor with a pair of sample contacts, which made wearing
the Oculus Rift comfortable and greatly enhanced the 3D effect as well. I am also
quite impressed at how much more comfortable the lenses themselves are than the last time I
wore them. To address a few questions and comments about this from the forums,
the Vive includes different pads to help accommodate glasses, but the Rift does
not. It was suggested I could get a small pair of glasses that would fit, and
this may be possible, but one pair I tried was very small, and still quite
painful. There were also questions about whether correction is necessary if you
are nearsighted, since the lenses are so close to your eyes, and for me it is. I
am quite nearsighted, but for some reason the eye treats this like focusing on
distance, so glasses or lenses are a must (though it seems like down the road
they might be able to program vision correction right into VR headsets?). One
reader's story involved wearing them painlessly over glasses at a demonstration,
but I will warn that it took a while before the pressure on my glasses started
to cause pain, so be wary of that eventually happening. And yes, now that my
vision correction includes progressive prescription glasses, prescription
sunglasses, prescription computer glasses, contact lenses, and reading glasses
(for when wearing the contacts), I am letting the idea of getting Lasik surgery
bounce around my mind a bit, though I think in the end I'm just too much of a
coward to do it.
