A new patch is now live in League of Legends, updating Riot's MOBA with balance
changes and bug fixes, as well as Battlefield 4TTaliyah, the game's newest champion. Here's a
Taliyah champion spotlight
trailer, and here's a bit on the patch: While mages make up the bulk
of 6.10’s tuning, reacting to other systemic shifts in the ecosystem (Bloodrazor,
Ocean Drake) is still a top priority. Beyond that however, this 6.10 is pretty
narrow in scope as we continue to evaluate how players are adapting to
Midseason. There’s lots left to discover and play around still flying under the
radar, so expect more focus as those builds and pocket picks shake out.
Apparently people are succeeding with Skirmisher’s Sabre Bloodrazor bot lane
Kog’Maw. If that’s not enough to get you experimenting, nothing will. Continue here to read the full story.
A new patch is now live in Heroes of the Storm, updating Blizzard's MOBA with
balance changes and bug fixes, as well as Chromie, the game's newest hero (it's
like deja vu!).
This post has all
the details on all the changes, and
this post introduces
Chromie and her abilities, and
here's a trailer with
a look. Here's more: At first glance, Chromie is a charismatic but
somewhat forgetful gnome, constantly distracted and intrigued by the world
around her. But don’t let her appearance fool you. This seemingly precocious
gnome’s true form is that of Chronormu, a powerful Bronze Dragon capable of
bending time to its will, eternally tasked with maintaining the balance of
infinite timelines by any means necessary. Sensing a disturbance of the greatest
proportion in a brand new world, Chromie now makes her first foray into the
Nexus… or is it her second foray? Or third? There’s really no telling. It’s so
hard to keep track! Continue here to read the full story.
Steam News announces the
release of Space Pirates
And Zombies 2 as an early access game, allowing the chance to buy an
early edition of the SPAZ sequel. This is 10% off for the next week, and here's
the sales pitch: "Design and then improve the ultimate mothership. Explore a
persistent living galaxy populated by 200 unique captains that can do everything
you can do. Survive the zombie infection and then fight them back. Make allies
and start your own faction. Build your empire. Also includes Sandbox Mode."
UbiBlog has details on an upcoming patch coming to Tom Clancy's The Division
that will include Conflict, the first of two free planned content updates for
the tactical shooter. This
trailer offers a look at some of what's coming in version 1.2, and here's a
bit from the accompanying post: The Division team has released the first
details on the free Conflict update – the second of two free updates for The
Division – which arrives May 24 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. One of its biggest
additions is Clear Sky, a brand new Incursion in Columbus Circle. Pitting
Division Agents against Rikers, Clear Sky challenges you to take back a formerly
LMB-controlled anti-air missile site, restore safe passage to the skies over
Manhattan, and reclaim supply drops stolen by Rikers.
Another new feature coming in the Conflict update is high-value targets (HVT).
The HVT officer inside your base of operations will provide you with a list of
these targets, along with a description, their level, and the recommended gear
score you need to engage them. You’ll have a limited amount of time and only one
chance to take down these targets.
The Dark Zone will see some changes that are going to make extractions even more
intense than they were before. Specifically, Agents will now have the option to
hijack your loot. This means that a player can run to an extraction rope and cut
it, causing all of the loot to fall to the ground. Continue here to read the full story.
A new trailer from
Total War: WARHAMMER shows off more of next week's mash-up between the
Warhammer franchise and the Total War series of real-time strategy games. Word
is: "In our latest video, What is Total War: WARHAMMER?, we give those who may
not yet have experienced the glory of being a mighty Total War general, an
overview of what lies in store for the budding military strategist." Here's
more: Total War: WARHAMMER is essentially two games in one. You’ll lead your chosen
race on the Grand Campaign map, managing your empire in matters of diplomacy,
economy and military strength. You’ll command great heroes and customise them
with a wealth of options pertaining to skills, spells and personal quests.
You’ll make friends and then stab them in the back to further your own
diabolical or benevolent ends. You’ll ultimately strike the balance between
survival and conquest as you strive to expand your empire from the southern
Badlands to the Northern Wastes.
But with expansion, comes the inevitable conflict and it’s on the
battlefields of the Old World where you’ll hone your skills as a military
tactician. Total War: WARHAMMER features breath-taking, real time battles, the
likes of which have never been realised in a Warhammer video game. Huge flying
monsters will swoop from the sky with deadly intent, reality itself will ripple
with the winds of magic leaving destruction in their wake and amongst the rank
and file troops, heroes will emerge on the battlefield to bring you glory. Continue here to read the full story.

Rogues Like Us -- 3D Hack n' Slash Roguelike by oddByte — Kickstarter.
"You are an exile… a rogue cast out by your clan. No longer accepted by the
society you used to know, you have been sent to rot on an island far out in
the ancient lands. There is a rumor that these lands gave birth to the power
the clan wields today. As you leave, you are told you have one last chance
at redemption: find the source of this power, wield it, and fight your way
through these lands to bring it home." Also on

In an interview with
Gamepressure.com, Obsidian Entertainment CEO Feargus Urquhart reveals the
company is currently developing Pillars of Eternity II, a sequel to their
crowdfunded RPG. He seems to make a distinction between acknowledging and
announcing the game, but confirms that it is actually a thing, and that they are
probably going to turn once again to crowdfunding to complete the project:
However, they’re most probably going to turn to Kickstarter to crowdfund
Pillars of Eternity II, and that’s when Feargus shared what they’re currently
involved in:
Obviously, as you’ve probably guessed, we’re starting to move forward on
[Pillars of] Eternity II. That is probably something that we want to look at
[in terms of crowdfunding]. I think people felt like we delivered on our
promise, and then that felt like we could go with Eternity II and people
would support us again, because they trust us.
When we asked him about an official announcement of Pillars of Eternity II,
that’s what he had to say:
Eternity II is not announced, [but] it seems silly for me not to
acknowledge it, though. If someone asks: “Are you working on it?”, I
respond: “Well, wouldn’t you work on it?”. So then they say: “So you must be
working on it”, and then I’m like: “Well, yeah”.
AMD now offers new Radeon Software Crimson Edition version 16.5.2.1 drivers
for AMD graphics cards. These are to support the new DOOM, claiming a 35%
performance improvement over their previous drivers in the following example:
"At 1920x1080 AMD RSCE 16.5.2 scored 70.29 and AMD RSCE 16.5.2.1 scored 95.11 on
the AMD Radeon™ R9 390, which is 35% faster performance." Thanks Mashiki.
Frozenbyte announces the release of Shadwen for Windows, Linux, OS X, and
PlayStation 4, offering a medieval stealth/action game with a discount price
lowered by an interesting
prerelease promotion. They celebrate the news with a
launch trailer
offering "a glimpse into the game world full of physics, explosions, traps, and
time rewind mechanics." The Shadwen website
has the links to the online stores where this can be picked up along with more
details on the game. Here's the announcement: Finnish game developer
Frozenbyte has today released Shadwen, a stealth-action game set in a gritty
medieval world of kings and assassins. The launch price is just $14.44 on PC and
the official website is located at
www.shadwen.com. The launch platforms are PC, PS4™, OS X® and Linux.
A new trailer gives a glimpse into the game world full of physics, explosions,
traps, and time rewind mechanics:
The game launches at a low price of just $14.44 on PC thanks to a community
event earlier in the spring, where gamers all over the world were able to
download and play a sneakpeek demo of Shadwen, and contribute to an overall
score that lowered the price. The event was a huge success with over 20.000
downloads and over 100.000 killed guards.
The launch price on PC is $14.44 / 14.44 € and $15.26 / 15.26 € on PS4 for PS
Plus subscribers. The regular price after the one-week launch discount period is
$16.99 / 16.99 € on both platforms and all stores.
Frozenbyte CEO, Mr. Lauri Hyvärinen, had this to say: "Multiple stab wounds or
not multiple stab wounds, that's the question." Continue here to read the full story.
Either an NDA expired at 9:00 am EDT today, or there's a pretty odd coincidence
underway, as everyone's review of the new NVIDIA GTX 1000 series graphics cards
all appeared at the same time this morning. Here's a roundup:
Daedalic Entertainment is now signing up applicants interested in closed beta
testing of Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, their upcoming stealthy
real-time strategy game. Registration is being accepted
on this page for the next couple of weeks, and word is testing will begin in
the middle of next month. They aren't afraid of overpromising based on the
testing, as they say: "By conducting the Closed Beta, Daedalic Entertainment and
Mimimi Productions would like to guarantee not only that Shadow Tactics: Blades
of the Shogun will work absolutely flawlessly, but also that it correlates with
the wishes and preferences of the fans." Here's a
previously released game
trailer, and here's a refresher on the game: In the year 1615, a new
Shogun rises to power in Japan and strives to bring peace to the realm. In his
battle against rebellion he recruits five specialists with extraordinary skills
for assassination, sabotage and espionage.
One part of this team is Hayato, an agile ninja, who clears the way through his
enemies silently with a sword and shuriken. The Samurai Mugen is a bit more
violent and can defeat more fiends at one time, but therefore, he’s forfeiting
flexibility. Aiko is a master of camouflage when she distracts enemies as a
Geisha, and the street child Yuki places traps and decoys the enemies towards
their deadly fate. However, Takuma counts on his sniper rifle and takes care of
the enemies from a distance.
The player has to carefully evaluate his options in order to master the
challenging missions: how will the characters behave as a team? Which one is
best equipped for each task? How can they best master the given environments?
Come up with your own ingenious tactics to vanquish enemies and complete
missions. Continue here to read the full story.

Someone gave me grief in the forums after noticing my repeatedly running 3D Mark
on Steam. In playing around with the idea of building a new PC I've been
exploring the setup of my current machine, and have managed to retune all
the cooling fans for extremely quiet operation, which was one of my goals if I
built a new box. I've been able to keep things cool and stable and it's running
so well I think my new plan is to just upgrade the video card first and then
determine if there is any real reason to change anything else based on how that
turns out.
