Five Nights at Freddy's Sister Location Teaser

The Scott Games website has an image up apparently teasing a new installment in the Five Nights at Freddy's series. A new game would be no surprise from the prolific developer, but there's not much to go by for now other than a logo which says Five Nights at Freddy's Sister Location, and a subheading saying "The was never just one." Thanks VG247.

Desilets vs Ubisoft Lawsuit Dropped

Patrice Desilets tweets that a settlement has been reached in his 2013 lawsuit against Ubisoft over his firing (thanks Gamasutra). At the time he sought $400K and the rights to 1666: Amsterdam, the game he was working on for Ubisoft before it was suspended. This document has details on the settlement, saying he has withdrawn his suit, but has secured the rights to the game, though his startup's current focus remains Ancestors : the Humankind Odyssey, which was announced last year. Here's word:

Ubisoft and Mr. Patrice Désilets have agreed today to put an end to the legal dispute with regards to project 1666 Amsterdam. Following this agreement, Mr. Désilets is withdrawing his legal action against Ubisoft from the Superior Court of Québec. The company thereby also give the rights of project 1666 Amsterdam to Mr. Désilets, who will hereafter have all creative and business control over the project.

“Putting aside our past differences, Patrice and I are above all interested in the creation of videogames and the evolution of this medium of entertainment,” said Yannis Mallat, Chief Executive Officer of Ubisoft Montréal and Toronto. “This agreement is good news for everyone. Ubisoft’s creative teams are currently working on innovative projects that will mark our industry for years to come. This is precisely where we want to focus our energy, on our teams, to continue what we have been building in Quebec for nearly 20 years. As we have always said, Patrice is a talented designer and we wish him all the best in the development of his future endeavours.”

“I’m glad Ubisoft and I were able to come to an agreement that will allow me to obtain the rights to project 1666 Amsterdam,” said Mr. Désilets. “I will now devote myself entirely to the development of Ancestors: the Humankind Odyssey, my next game with Panache Digital Games. This is what matters most to me today: making the best games and showing the world the creative talent of Quebecers. I also wish every success to the Ubisoft teams.”

Master of Orion Adds Linux Support

This post has details on update 3 for Master of Orion, which has just gone live in the early access version of the 4X space strategy game. The new version adds espionage gameplay, the Darlok and Silicoid races, a new economic victory condition, support for Linux, and more. They also warn that the large number of changes mean save games from early access version 2 may no longer work, so they are offering the previous Windows and OS X build separately to allow players to continue. Here's word: "After a lot of work we are proud to present this massive update. As you will see this version is packed with important new features, new playable races and several improvements. We want to thank you all for your amazing feedback that is helping us improve the game."

Upwards, Lonely Robot Demo

A playable demo for Upwards, Lonely Robot is now available on Steam, offering a chance to sample this Windows platformer featuring the aspirations of a spherical robot who learns that it's not just lonely at the top, but getting there as well. This news post has the details:

Easy to pick up and play but so difficult to put down, Upwards, Lonely Robot will push gamers’ platforming skills to the limit as they ascend a series of increasingly-challenging towers while trying to avoid the lurking enemies and traps above. Each tower climbed unlocks a little more of the mystery as the plot to find the Lonely Robot’s creator deepens in the many twisting and absorbing levels.

The demo will allow players access to a section of the story mode giving them a taste of the intuitive gameplay, amazing visuals and features of Upwards, Lonely Robot as they scale the dizzying heights, all in a tense battle against the clock.

The full game, which is out now for Windows, includes several exciting single player and multiplayer modes for gamers to keep the platform climbing chaos going for hours on end - although the real challenge will be putting the controller down.

Battleborn Motion Comic

The Battleborn website now offers a three-part motion comic offering a prequel for Battleborn, Gearbox Software's upcoming multiplayer shooter. Here's there introduction to this introduction to the game:

On May 3rd, the fight to save the last star in the universe begins. That’s right, it’s about that time. Before you gear up and pick from the 25 playable badasses at launch, let’s start by asking ourselves: “How the hell did we get into this mess in the first place?”

Glad you asked!

You see, these 25 playable heroes – from the five remaining factions in the universe – are all that stand between us and total annihilation. This uneasy alliance is at the verge of falling apart. That’s the good news. The bad news: You’ve got star-sucking cosmic horrors, called Varelsi, and the treacherous Jennerit scumbag, Rendain, -- both are on a mission to drag every last star system kicking and screaming into the void.

And what better way to tell the stories of what brought these Battleborn together than with an awesome animated comic run?

U.K. Sales Charts

The Sims 4 returns to the top spot on GFK Chart-Track's top 30 chart of the bestselling PC games in the U.K. for the week ending April 23rd. There's a new entry atop the all platforms top 40, as Ratchet & Clank debuts at number one. There's more action there, as Star Fox Zero enters in the sixth position and Ruby Challenge 3 is lucky number 13. Here's word:

Sony and Insomniac make a triumphant return with a first outing on PS4 for ‘Ratchet & Clank’, the first in the series to debut at No1.

The game debuts just a few days before the movie (UK release date is 29th April). The game series began back in week 45, 2002 on PS2 with ‘Ratchet and Clank’ having held the previous best week 1 for All Formats chart position (No15). In terms of week 1 sales units the record was held by 2009’s PS3 ‘Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time’, but the current release beats this by a factor of 3. Bandai Namco’s ‘Dark Souls III’ drops to No2 after 1 week at the top (-80%) and EA climb 9 places to No3 with ‘Star Wars Battlefront’ (+177%) – of course this is also the week where ‘Star Wars The Force Awakens’ arrived on DVD/Blu-ray.

Three other new releases make the Top 40 this week. The second is Nintendo’s WiiU ‘Star Fox Zero’ at No6, the third is Alternative’s ‘Rugby Challenge 3’ (No13) and the fourth is Konami’s ‘UEFA Euro 2016 Pro Evolution Soccer’ for PS3/PS4 (No23).

Out of the Blue

I recently mentioned the acquisition of an electric trimmer which allowed me to finally tame our wild forsythia situation. This weekend was the reckoning for how easy this was, as I had to deal with a pile of trimmings unprecedented in my previous efforts. At one point I was thinking the acquisition of the trimmer may have provoked the need for a wood-chipper, but with a steady effort I was able to whittle these down to size and bag the whole mess for pickup. This was all a little much, but I'm confident that this will be an easier chore going forward now that I've got a handle on things again.
