Mirror's Edge Catalyst Delayed

A post on the Mirror's Edge website informs us that the launch of Mirror's Edge Catalyst is being pushed back to June 7th in North America and June 9th in the EU to give them a couple of extra weeks to "perfect" the parkour action sequel. Here's word from design director Erik Odeldahl:

As you know, we’re about to open the gates to the city of Glass for participants of the Closed Beta. One of the key features of the Beta and the full game is Social Play, detailed in our latest developer diary.

Taking on Dashes designed by DICE, creating your own Time Trials, climbing the Leaderboards, and connecting with your Runner friends are some of the Social Play features we’re really excited about – and something we want to play flawlessly.

To support the Social Play features, we are using a brand new online technology. We also want to make sure we have the opportunity and time to address player feedback from the Closed Beta. That is why we will give ourselves a bit more time to perfect the game, with a new release date for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst of June 7th (NA) and June 9th (EU). We’re confident that these extra two weeks will make sure the game is as amazing as possible for you the players.

Thank you all for your continued support and excitement for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. The return of Faith is imminent.

Steamship - Battlefleet Gothic: Armada

Steam News announces that Battlefleet Gothic: Armada is now available, offering a Windows RTS based on the tabletop game from Games Workshop. This announcement has more on the launch and how it will be followed shortly by some space marines:

Your crew is ready at their battle stations, your macro-canons are loaded, and the Adeptus Mechanicus' priests have performed the activation rites of the plasma reactors of your ship. The astropath is now connecting to the Warp.

The Gothic Sector is on the verge of apocalypse, and you will have to fight like never before to save it from the claws of Abaddon the Despoiler and his 12th Black Crusade.

This is it. Battlefleet Gothic: Armada is now available!

We want you to know that this is not the end of a journey, but just its beginning. The proud Space Marines are already on their way to assist the Imperial Navy.

ETA is in one and a half months from now, and we have high hopes they won't get lost in the Warp on the way.

We, at Tindalos Interactive, wish to thank all of the players who participated in the Beta, and provided us with valuable feedback. We would also like to assure you that the studio, with the support of our publisher Focus Home Interactive, will be entirely dedicated to the development and support of Battlefleet Gothic: Armada.

We will work relentlessly on balancing and also to add new content. We will listen to your feedback and your expectations - together, we’ll strive to make Battlefleet Gothic: Armada something truly unique.

Out of the Blue

My internet was acting more reliably for a while, but recently started misbehaving again with frequent disconnections. These are always brief, but it is still quite aggravating to get dropped from games and voice chat all the time. I finally got fed up and made an appointment for Verizon to come and reinstall FiOS. The problem is they don't offer TV in this area (word is our local politicians have a shockingly high bribe floor), so I can't get one of their "triple play" bundle deals. What's bizarre about this is how they quoted me a higher price for internet and phone service than they offer for the triple play! I had to kick and scream and get a supervisor on the phone to get to the point where they were not going to charge me more for two services than they would charge someone else for three. Having successfully negotiated for sanity, now I just have to wait a week for the installation, which will hopefully put my internet issues behind me.
