Archived News:
A HOXAR Inc. website is live, offering
what appears to be a typical online presence for a corporation. This is
apparently one of those sneaky viral dealies, however, as a little bird
told Shacknews that this is a teaser for an upcoming game from id Software
co-founder John Romero. That was enough to spur a seeming confirmation, as The
Romero
tweets some hashtags indicating a PC first-person shooter is in the works:
"Yes, there may be something to this. #pc #fps."
Kotaku has a details on the outcome of the
lawsuit filed by Trendy
Entertainment against Studio Wildcard over the involvement of Trendy's former
creative director Jeremy Stieglitz in development of Ark: Survival Evolved. They
note leaked private message this week indicated Trendy was seeking $600 million,
but that there are indications this was settled for about $40 million. The only
official word on this appears to be a joint statement from lawyers for both
sides, saying: "A mediation conference was conducted on the 13th day of April
2016. The conference resulted in a final written settlement agreement."
Digital Extremes announces TennoCon, an upcoming convention of
Warframe players, saying this is one of
the largest free-to-play communities in the world. The gathering is scheduled
for July 9, 2016 in London, Ontario, Canada.
This website has all the details
and ticket sales. Word is: "TennoCon offers attendees a chance to connect with
the Warframe developers, well-known Warframe Twitch and YouTube broadcasters,
and fellow players, better known as Tenno."

Activision publishing announces plans for two Ghostbusters games in
collaboration with Sony Pictures to celebrate the film franchise reboot coming
to theaters this summer. Of course one of these is a mobile dealie, which is
called Ghostbusters: Slime City, but the other is a more full featured affair,
simply titled Ghostbusters, which is expected to launch on Windows, Xbox One,
and PlayStation 4 on July 15th, the day of the movie premiere.
This trailer offers
a first look the game, and here's the news: Activision Publishing, Inc., in collaboration with
Sony Pictures Consumer Products, has announced a pair of new Ghostbusters video
games set in and inspired by the comedic action world of the upcoming
Ghostbusters film, in cinemas on the 15th July. Taking place after the events of
the new movie, both Ghostbusters games introduce new casts of rookies keeping
watch over the station while the now-famous Ghostbusters tour the country
stopping high-profile poltergeists. When paranormal phenomena unleash
apparitions across New York City, these new squads of recruits must don their
proton packs and wrestle those rogue spirits back to the afterlife!
The console game, Ghostbusters, is a third-person action role-playing game
positively charged for thrilling couch co-op with up to four players locally. As
rookie Ghostbusters, players can level up their characters’ gear and abilities
by tackling objectives, defeating ghastly creatures and discovering hidden
collectibles in Manhattan’s most haunted haunts. There are four heroes to choose
from, and each has his or her own unique personality and play style, bringing
special strengths to support the team.
Ghostbusters is expected to arrive on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment
system, Xbox One and Windows PC via Steam on the 15th July in Europe.

When it rains it pours, as the old expression goes. The beta test for
Battleborn started earlier this week, and the DOOM multiplayer beta
kicked off last night. So naturally this morning I found a note in my inbox
informing me of my acceptance into this weekend's beta for Overwatch as
well, so I have three different multiplayer shooter betas to juggle. Funny thing
about my Overwatch invite is that it came to a smurf account I created to get a
Vulture mount in Heroes of the Storm. All that account ever did was play
the minimum required games to earn the mount, while my main account contains
Diablo II, Diablo III, and StarCraft II, all bought and paid
for. That's a little weird, but I guess it's to Blizzard's credit that they are
actually being random with beta keys.
