There's a
post on TechRadar saying Rockstar at one point intended on making an
installment in the Grand Theft Auto series set in Tokyo, saying they learned
this from "a source close to the company." Word is in the early part of this
millennium some developers they took a reference trip to Japan to scout
locations, and trademarks for the game were even filed, but they say this was
scrapped in part due to the city's problematic road system and issues in moving
brands and other series staples to a new country. They also report their source
tells them "preliminary work has begun on
Grand Theft Auto VI," but that
a location hasn't been set yet, so if accurate, that could just mean they are in
the talking stages, and at this point it would be a surprise if they weren't at
least bouncing concepts for the next installment in the open world series.
