Archived News:
A new Oddworld: Soulstorm website
is online, offering first details on Oddworld: Soulstorm, the first new
installment in the Oddworld series in years, saying this is due in the second
half of next year (thanks
VG247). The emergence of social media since Abe's last odyssey is not
lost on them, as they are soliciting Facebook followers to reveal Abe's
appearance this time around. They also offer newsletter signups, dangling the
chance to win a copy of New
'n' Tasty on Steam for those who do. Here's the announcement with all the
details they are revealing for now: Oddworld Inhabitants Inc. are today
proud to announce Oddworld: Soulstorm, now being co-developed by Oddworld’s own
internal teams in California and the UK; and in conjunction with Frima Studio in
Québec, Canada.
A follow-up to the critically acclaimed* release of Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty,
Oddworld: Soulstorm picks up from Abe’s genesis and directly follows on from the
overthrow of RuptureFarms and the liberation of his blighted workmates.
Having defeated Molluck The Glukkon, his former boss and RuptureFarms’ meanest
inhabitant, Abe soon finds himself - along with 300 newly emancipated Mudokons -
without food, water or a place to call home. Stranded alone in the desert, they
find solace in a strange new brew - a delicious drink that has insidious
ramifications for their newfound freedom.
"There was a deeper, darker, and more sinister story that we never got to tell,"
explains series creator, Lorne Lanning. "Soulstorm gives us the opportunity to
flesh out more meat on the bones of an original spine, but re-tell the fable
from a very different angle."
"Abe has a long way to go and plenty more adversity ahead. Soulstorm is going to
be a much heavier trip for him."
Oddworld: Soulstorm will continue to chew up the themes of environmentalism,
capitalism, consumerism and addiction that critics and fans found so engaging in
the "AAA Indie" release of Oddworld’s last pensive platformer, New ’n’ Tasty.

Daedalic Entertainment and Mimimi Productions announce Shadow Tactics – Blades
of the Shogun, a stealthy real-time tactics game set in medieval Japan they plan
to release later this year for Windows, OS X, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox
One. An announcement
teaser trailer offers a look at gameplay, and says to expect this in the
fall, while the announcement says Q4. Here's word: In the year 1615, a new
Shogun rises to power in Japan and strives to bring peace to the realm. In his
battle against rebellion he recruits five specialists with extraordinary skills
for assassination, sabotage and espionage.
Part of this team is Hayato, an agile Ninja who artfully defeats his enemies one
by one from the cover of the shadows. Samurai Mugen fights with more strength.
As the tank of the group, he can take on several enemies at once, at the expense
of his agility. Aiko the Geisha is a master of camouflage and distraction,
trapper Yuki is specialized in traps and deceptions. Takuma, being the eldest of
the group, relies on his sniper skills for ranged attacks.
The player has to carefully evaluate his options in order to master the
challenging missions: how will the characters behave as a team? Which one is
best equipped for each task? How can they best master the given environments?
Come up with your own ingenious tactics to vanquish enemies and complete
missions.
Features:
- Comeback of a genre: Real-time tactics with
stealth elements
- Ninja, Samurai, Geisha, Trapper and Sniper – five
simultaneously playable characters with unique and versatile skills
- Challenging missions, worthy of a strategical
mastermind
- Thirteen complex missions with classical 3D

Here's a new trailer showing
off Automatron, the first DLC for Fallout 4, which Bethesda
announces is coming to Windows, Xbox One, and
PlayStation 4 on March 22nd. The add-on allows the construction of antonymous
killing robots, once again demonstrating that post-apocalyptic life gets a
bad rap. Here's word from
Bethesda.net: Automatron will be available for download across Xbox
One, PlayStation 4 and PC on Tuesday, March 22.
In Automatron, the mysterious Mechanist has unleashed a horde of evil robots
into the Commonwealth, including the devious Robobrain. Hunt them down and
harvest their parts to build and mod your own custom robot companions. Choose
from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons such as the
all-new lightning chain gun. Even customize their paint schemes and choose their
voices! (For characters level 15 or higher.)
Automatron marks the first add-on release for Fallout 4. In April, we’re
expanding the capabilities of settlements with Wasteland Workshop, and in May,
travel beyond the Commonwealth to Maine for Far Harbor – the largest landmass
Bethesda Game Studios has ever created for post-release content. And, that’s
just the beginning, with even more add-ons to be released in 2016. Stay tuned
for more details on free updates like Survival Mode and the Creation Kit, which
will allow you to create mods on the PC and then share and play them across all
platforms, including consoles. Continue here to read the full story.

Here's a new trailer from
the upcoming Battlezone remake unveils the campaign and shows off VR support,
saying this is "coming first to PlayStation VR," which presumably means it's

provided by the procedural campaign: No two campaigns will play the
same
Delivering a dynamic campaign that blends procedural and randomised content, no
two players will experience the same playthrough - offering a substantial

Whenever a player starts a new campaign, the game’s “Hex” campaign map is
re-generated procedurally, and dozens of environments, levels and mission types
are blended together in new combinations for a completely different experience
each time. Then it’s up to the players to forge their own path to the game’s
epic finale.
A first look at the new cockpit and environments
Battlezone’s latest campaign trailer also showcases the game’s impressive
revamped VR cockpit, brand new enemies and diverse environments including a new

heavily updated version of the “neon” level made famous in the game’s
original teaser. Continue here to read the full story.

has collected over $110 million in crowdfunding to develop Star Citizen.
The site long ago stopped listing further stretch goals for this space

GfK Chart-Track top 30 chart of bestselling PC games in the U.K. for the
week ending March 12th, and Bus Simulator 16 pulls in at number 10.
The Division also lands in the top spot on the
all platforms chart, where the late in the week release of the new HITMAN

word that The Division has become the biggest ever Q1 game launch:
Ubisoft knock themselves off the top of the chart this week as ‘Tom

first 3 months of the year. It is also Ubisoft’s biggest ever launch of a Tom

Happy ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter day! Enjoy your π, and
try not to leave any crumbs. But I want to take this opportunity to speak for
the other irrational numbers that go unrecognized. I propose we celebrate
January 4th as square root of two day, just two days before the joy of golden
ratio day. There we go, another way to improve our everyday life from the brain
trust at the BlueTower.
