UbiBlog announces
the release of Far Cry Primal, the latest/earliest installment in the shooter
series. They celebrate the news with
a new trailer, and
this article discussing the game's look, and what went into designing it. Here's the announcement:
It’s been a long week since Far Cry Primal arrived on consoles, but the
flame of prehistoric warfare has at last been brought to PC. Starting today, PC
gamers can now delve into the savage land of Oros as shaggy prehistoric hunter
Takkar, whether you’re rolling with custom hardware or an off-the-shelf rig.
(Click here to see if your machine meets the requirements.)
Far Cry Primal redefines the Far Cry experience, replacing guns with clubs,
arrows and spears that need to be crafted from materials found throughout the
world. You’ll learn to wield fire and conquer enemy settlements while defending
your scattered tribe – the Wenja – against two rivals, the brutish Udam and the
advanced Izila. And you’ll be able to bend hulking prehistoric predators to your
will, turning them into constant companions that will help you hunt, fight and
even carry you on their backs.
You can start exploring the land of Oros right now by ordering the digital
edition of Far Cry Primal. In addition to the standard edition, it’s also
available as the Apex Edition, which comes with a bevy of extras, including
three bonus missions in which you’ll play as a mammoth. Continue here to read the full story.
The
GeForce website offers new WHQL-certified version 362.00 drivers, saying
these are game-ready drivers for Far Cry Primal, Dying Light: The
Following - Enhanced Edition, and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
They point to the GeForce
Experience for these, but they are also available through the
GeForce Drivers Page.
Steam News announces
pre-purchases are underway for
Homefront: The Revolution,
the upcoming shooter sequel. They are offering a Liberty Pack & Revolutionary
Spirit Pack as a bonus with skins and early unlocks for the game. Here's the
description of the game: Homefront®: The Revolution is an open-world
first person shooter where you must lead the Resistance movement in guerrilla
warfare against a superior military force.
A living, breathing, open world responds to your actions - you and your
Resistance Cell can inspire a rebellion on the streets and turn Occupation into
Revolution, as oppressed civilians take up the fight.
But your enemy has the advantage - superior technology, firepower, heavy armour
and air support. You must learn the art of guerrilla warfare – ambush, sabotage,
infiltration, deception – and fight a running battle through the war-ravaged
suburbs of Philadelphia.
And the single player campaign is just the start – in Co-Op you and your friends
can form your own Resistance Cell and become renowned as Heroes of the
Revolution.

With Tom Clancy's The Division due next week, Ubisoft offers a
launch trailer from
the upcoming shooter, setting up the game's story. The description mentions
gameplay, but this looks likes it's mostly cinematics. Here's the party line on
the game: Tom Clancy’s The Division takes place weeks after a devastating
pandemic sweeps through New York City on Black Friday. One by one, basic
services fail and in only days, without food or water, society collapses into
chaos. The Division, an autonomous unit of tactical agents leading seemingly
ordinary lives among us, is activated to save society. Team up with other
players to investigate the source of the virus, protect civilians from dangerous
factions, and reclaim the city from the overwhelming turmoil. Continue here to read the full story.

The Dream Theater website announces plans for Dream Theater: The
Astonishing Game, a game based on the group's concept album of the same
name, saying this is coming to Windows, OS X, and consoles in Q2 of this year
(thanks Frans).
Turbo
Tape Games has some details, and is accepting signups for their newsletter,
and the announcement offers some details on how an unusual concept like this
will work: Prepare to step into the dystopian future as described in the
concept album The Astonishing. Travel to The Great Northern Empire Of The
Americas (G.N.E.A.) where any dedication, investment or interest in the arts has
all but been abandoned. The very soul of what was once real music is lost in a
digital quagmire of emotionless sonic madness.
In this setting a young man from the Endless Isleland, Gabriel, emerges with a
voice so profound it moves everyone that listens, transporting them back to a
time where true art created by humans was celebrated and consumed as the
ultimate nourishment for the soul.
In the game you will follow the story-line of the album through a series of
matches between the rebel militia and the forces of G.N.E.A. in a board-based
tactical strategy game! The game is available soon on iOS & Android (both mobile
and tablets), as well as for PC and MAC.
A new patch is now available for Rainbow Six Siege, updating the tactical
shooter to version 2.2. Included are some measures intended to combat cheating,
including a ranked kill cam, and the new version also includes spawn kill
countermeasures, matchmaking improvements, and bug fixes. All the details are in
the
Ubi Forums, and here's word on the
anti-cheating stuff from the
UbiBlog: Rainbow Six Siege is about to become a harsher environment
for cheaters because Patch 2.2 is bringing a new wave of fixes designed to deter
cheats and exploits, with a special eye toward keeping players from being killed
as they spawn. The biggest addition is a “Report” button players can use to flag
behaviors they think are suspicious. To help eliminate any confusion about
whether an opponent cheated, kill cams are being introduced to ranked matches,
letting players see for themselves whether any foul play was involved in their
deaths.
Also, tweaks are being made to multiple spawn points across eight maps, in some
cases altering scenery to protect Attackers from being immediately killed by
Defenders. For example, the Oregon map’s Construction Site now features added
fencing and a higher, now-bulletproof wall to keep Defenders from firing on
Attackers at the start of the match.

CapCom Unity announces details on a Multi-Mission Mode that will be part of
Umbrella Corps when it comes to Windows and PlayStation 4 this spring. You can see
this in action in this trailer, and
here's an outline: Today I'm happy to bring you guys some more Umbrella
Corps news to go along with the
recently announced Kijuju map. In this upcoming Resident Evil inspired 3rd
person shooter, you will be able to play in the newly revealed "Multi-Mission"
mode with up to 6 players where the team to win 3 out of 5 rounds is victorious.
In this mode there are 8 scenarios that rotate at random before each round so
you must be on your toes at all times and quickly figure out a plan based on the
current objective. Hit the jump to check out the trailer along with full details
explaining each mission type!
- Target Hunter – One target will be chosen per team and only
killing that target will count towards the score. You can choose whether to
focus on protecting your own target or aggressively attacking the enemy
target.
- Respawn Match – Team deathmatch featuring respawns. Take
advantage of the on-screen sound radar map to locate the enemies’ random
respawn points.
- Domination – Secure the specified data transmission point located
within the stage for a longer time than the enemy team in order to win.
- DNA Hunter – Kill zombies and collect their DNA samples.
Destroying the opposing team’s Zombie Jammers is a key strategy in this
mode.
- SP DNA Hunter – Kill the special mutated zombies and collect
their DNA samples. They are particularly tough and immune to the effects of
the Zombie Jammer. It'll take teamwork to bring these creatures down.
- Collector – Teams battle it out to see who will be first to
collect all 5 briefcases in the stage.
- Protector – Find the briefcase and hold it for as long as
possible, while fending off the opposition. The player who has it will
become a moving target, so teams must work together effectively.
- Collar War – Collect the battle data "collars" of downed enemy
players, and pick up allies' collars to prevent the enemy team from getting
points.
Join the corps and check out the new mode for yourself when Umbrella Corps
hits your digital shelves on PlayStation 4 and PC in May! Continue here to read the full story.
