Dream Reactor announces the release of
Spellweaver, their free-to-play digital card game. Here's word: Dream
Reactor, the developers of Spellweaver, have put together an elegant card game
that blends common elements in modern card games into an incredibly deep
strategy game. With over a dozen features that make it truly unique and over 200
cards with stunning artwork, this indie Bulgarian studio is ready to take on the
industry giants.
The unique features that set Spellweaver apart from other games are as follows:
- Hero Skills - 18 different heroes are available,
each with their own unique ability. Additionally, each hero can equip 2
additional skills during play, allowing the creation of thousands of
different hero combinations.
- 6 Aspects (Colors) To Mix - Freely mix your hero’s
aspect with the 5 others for a wide variety of deck combinations. Elves with
undead, wizards and priests, the possibilities are nearly endless.
- Creature Speed - Creatures are comprised of 3
attack stats instead of just two. Health and Damage, as you’d find in most
other games, but also Speed. Creatures with higher speed can not be blocked
by creatures with lower speed, but as a result tend to have weaker stats or
higher costs. It is important for a competitive deck to have a solution to
both high and low speed enemies!
- Support Line - Combat in Spellweaver primarily
takes place on the front line of the playing field. However, each player has
a support line in front of them as well. The support line creatures cannot
attack without a special ability, but are also immune to creatures attacking
them. Dealing with dangers on the support line is another important
principle for competitive play!
- World Map & Quests - Spellweaver is a free to play
game with a generous supply of daily quests and rewards to earn. The team
strongly believes in allowing a dedicated player the opportunity to earn
enough money and cards to create any competitive deck they want. Payment may
get you there faster, but with plenty of AI enemies and friendly matches to
play, there’s no shortage of ways to earn your deck the hard way.
- Built in Tournaments - With multiple different
tournament styles, each with their own unique sets of challenges, there’s no
end to the challenges and triumphs you can experience. Some tournaments are
free, others require tickets, which can be earned via quests or purchased.
Fame, glory, and cosmetic upgrades await the victors!

Petroglyph is offering Descent of the Shroud, a new free DLC campaign
for Grey Goo adding a new faction to the RTS game. They have also relaunched the
Grey Goo Definitive Edition with the new content and a permanent price
reduction. All the details can be found on the
Grey Goo website, and
you can get a look at the new content in
this trailer.
Here's word: Grey Box, Six Foot, and developer Petroglyph have released a
new expansion for Grey Goo®, now available as a free update on PC. “Descent of
the Shroud” evolves the competitive, sci-fi, real-time strategy (RTS) game with
a new, fully designed faction, playable in both multiplayer and offline skirmish
mode against the AI. A new single-player campaign mission, taking place after
the events of the main story, introduces and sets the stage for war against the
Shroud, an enigmatic species that grows its units and structures, one which now
threatens all life on Ecosystem 9.
“Descent of the Shroud” also brings new units to the game’s three original
races. Betas can now deploy the Squall, a ranged ground unit with a knockback
effect. The Goo Siphon drains health from enemies and transfers it to allies.
And the Humans’ Valiant AI bot can deploy a shield that redirects damage away
from friendly allies toward itself.
In addition, Grey Goo has relaunched as the Grey Goo Definitive Edition. This
updated title, on Steam now for the permanently reduced price of $29.99,
includes the original game, the previously released DLC campaign – “Emergence,”
the “Descent of the Shroud” DLC, and Grey Goo’s expanded, complete soundtrack.
Grey Goo unites the best elements of classic RTS design with modern gameplay and
production enhancements. Emphasizing tactical base-building and unit management,
the game now features four distinct factions, each with their own units,
structures and tech trees, across a sprawling single-player campaign and
four-player local (LAN) and online multiplayer. Grey Goo has been actively
supported since launch with DLC, free maps, terrain editor upgrades, a spectator
mode, replay mode and dedicated multiplayer servers. Continue here to read the full story.
Techland says Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition is gold, and
pins down February 9th as the release date for the Windows edition of the
enhanced zombie game, except for in Japan, where it's expected in April. Here's
word: As we announced last week, Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced
Edition has gone gold. This means the game is ready, and the discs are now being
packed and shipped to stores where it will be available starting February 9th.
Keep in mind that retail and digital availability may vary slightly between
platforms or countries (check below).
The launch of Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition also means that the
original version is going to be increasingly harder to come by. Digitally, it’ll
disappear instantly on February 9th. As for retail, we will cease shipping
additional copies, so it will remain available only as long as stocks last. If
you plan to grab your copy of the vanilla Dying Light at a reduced price, or
want the original box for your collection, now is the best time to do it.
Whatever your choice, we hope you have zombie-apocalyptic plans for
February.

A
Kickstarter update for SUPERHOT announces a February 25th release date for
this crowdfunded first-person shooter/puzzle game for Windows, Linux, and OS X (thanks nin). Here's a
release date trailer,
and here's an explanation of the plan : Blurring the lines between
cautious strategy and unbridled mayhem, SUPERHOT is the FPS in which time moves
only when you move.
No regenerating health bars. No conveniently placed ammo drops. It's just you,
outnumbered and outgunned, grabbing the weapons of fallen enemies to shoot,
slice, and maneuver through a hurricane of slow-motion bullets.
From its origins in the 7 Day FPS game jam, to a hugely successful Kickstarter
campaign, and now an IGF and SXSW Gaming Awards finalist, we’re incredibly
grateful to the supporters who have helped to make SUPERHOT a reality.
Be ready to get SUPERHOT on February 25th, because frankly, it's going to be
awesome.

A post on
the Ubisoft forums has word that beta testing of Tom Clancy's: The
Division will be extended 24 hours, and will now conclude tomorrow (thanks
GameInformer). Here's word: Over the last few days, we’ve seen an
incredible amount of excitement for the game, leading to many of you registering
on the waitlist for a chance to join our Closed Beta. We’ve been working very
hard to let as many players as possible join, while still maintaining a smooth
experience for everyone.
Earlier today, we announced that we were now inviting as many players as
possible from the waitlist, in addition to those who had guaranteed pre-order
access. We’ve started sending invites, with priority given to those who signed
up first.
In order to allow everyone who has access to fully enjoy the Beta, we’re happy
to announce we’re extending the duration by 24h for all players. As a result
servers will remain open until Tuesday, February 2nd, 12pm CET | 6 am EST | 3 am
PST.
Thank you all for your amazing support!

The Sims 4 drops to number two on the
GFK Chart-Track U.K. PC sales chart for the week ending January 30th, as
Football Manager 2016 manages to regain a toehold on the top spot. Rise
of the Tomb Raider also debuts this week, entering the chart at number 10.
On the
all platforms chart LEGO Marvel Avengers assembles in the number one post.
Here's the big picture:
‘Lego Marvel Avengers’ swoops in at No1 to become the 8th different Lego
title ever to reach the top of the All Formats Chart.
It is a feat that the first Lego Marvel title ‘Lego Marvel Super Heroes’
couldn’t manage when it debuted at No2 back in week 46 2013, denied then by
‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’. However, Lego gets its own back on Call of Duty this
week as it stops Black Ops III’s 7 week run at No1 with the Activision Blizzard
blockbuster making way, down to No2 despite a 54% jump in sales. Familiar faces
occupy the next 5 spots with ‘FIFA 16’ (-4%) down one place to No3, ‘Tom
Clancy’s Rainbow 6: Siege’ (-7%) and ‘Star Wars Battlefront’ (-9%) non-movers at
No’s 4 and 5 respectively, ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ (-17%) down 3 places to No6 and
‘Just Cause 3’ (+23%) up one place to No7.
Retailer promotions of ‘Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’ (+104%) see it
re-enter the Top 10, up from No24 to No8. ‘Fallout 4’ (+2%) manages not to fall
out of the Top 10, holding on to No9 just ahead of ‘Resident Evil Origins
Collection’ (-22%) which falls from No6 to No10 in its second week of release.
Square’s 3DS title ‘Final Fantasy Explorers’ is unlucky to finish outside the
Top 10, new at No11. The only other newcomer to break in to the Top 40 this week
is ‘Sébastien Loeb Rally Evo’ from Milestone and PQube which debuts at
No26.
Well, I sort of tried to watch the Pro Bowl as I mentioned, but I was quickly
reminded why this is not a thing that I do, as I just couldn't stand it. I came
across an article this morning saying
Time to kill off the Pro Bowl, which serves no real purpose, and I'm
thinking that has the right take on this. Hell, even the players aren't
interested, as apparently no fewer that 47 players declined to participate due
to injuries or other reasons.
