Gambitious Digital Entertainment announces Hard Reset Redux, a remake of

graphics with a more up-to-date look. This doesn't have a set release date, but
they say it is coming to Windows and consoles soon. Here's
an announcement trailer
with a look, and here's word: The world as we know it has ceased to
exist. Surrounded by vast, hostile wastelands, the remnants of humankind's

been breached. As a CLN soldier, you are all that stands between the hive mind
machines of The Sanctuary, and total extinction.
Combining unapologetically over-the-top destruction and a dark cyberpunk
setting, the breakout FPS from Flying Wild Hog (Shadow Warrior, Shadow Warrior
2) gets re-energized for modern audiences with an upgraded visual engine and
re-balanced gameplay, along with new enemies and weaponry (cyber-katana!). Continue here to read the full story.

Stardock announces Mercenaries, the first expansion for Galactic Civilization
III, saying this will come to their 4X space strategy sequel on February
18th. There's a post on the Galactic
Civilizations III forums where a bunch of screenshots illustrate the news
with a look at what to expect, including new ships, new factions, a mercenary
bazaar, and more. They also promise owners of the base game a bunch of
improvements will be released at the same time as the add-on, saying: "Along
with the Mercenaries expansion, Stardock is releasing the v1.6 update to the
base game, which is a free update for all Galactic Civilizations III game
owners. Improvements include more detailed match results, AI improvements,
visual updates and balance improvements." Here's more: In Mercenaries,
players will be able to visit new Intergalactic Bazaars, where they can hire
mercenaries to assist in expanding across the galaxy. With over 70 unique
mercenary ships and multiple Bazaars to discover on each map, Galactic
Civilizations III: Mercenaries offers hours of unique gameplay.
"Each mercenary sets their own hiring price in terms of money and resource,"
said Paul Boyer, Lead Designer of Galactic Civilizations III. "Because there are
a finite number of mercenaries, each civilization is competing for their
services. When one is hired by one civilization, it is no longer available to
the others."
Galactic Civilizations III: Mercenaries also includes two new factions: the
Arceans and the Torians. The Arceans are an ancient and honorable civilization
of warriors and the Torians are an aquatic species seeking to escape the slavery
of the Drengin. Both races come with new traits, abilities, and tech trees. The
Torians are also the subject of a new campaign available within the expansion.
The campaign for Galactic Civilizations III: Mercenaries centers on the peaceful
Torian race who have long been enslaved and farmed for their meat by the cruel
Drengin. To free the Torians, players will need to explore and discover
mercenaries, then hire them to aid in escaping from their oppressors. Players
will strive to liberate the Torians and help them rebuild their shattered
civilization while staying out of reach of the Drengin.

Focus Home Interactive announces an early adopter offer for Battlefleet
Gothic: Armada, saying they've opened up preorders
on Steam with a 10%
discount on this real-time strategy game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
Early adopters will receive an additional free "space marines" faction, and will
also be allowed access to the game's multiplayer beta, which will commence a few
weeks before the game's official launch in March. They celebrate the news with a
new narrative trailer
composed of cinematics from the game. Here's more: Battlefleet Gothic:
Armada, the new space RTS set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe from Games
Workshop, today unveils the Narrative Trailer. This video, composed from some of
the game's cinematics, introduces the ambitious solo campaign which will plunge
players into the heart of the spectacular void battles of the 12th Black Crusade
of Abaddon.
Great care has been taken with the campaign of Battlefleet Gothic, through its
story and realisation. Many cinematics, astutely mixing game sequences with
artwork created by talented artists, support the story and the major events of
the campaign, which are sometimes influenced by the success - or failure - of
the missions. The Gothic Sector is in constant evolution, and new threats often
make an appearance such as the Ork pirates, or the Eldar corsairs. The Chaos
forces will often launch assaults on Imperial worlds, while your allies will
request your support. Quite often, multiple events will arise simultaneously,
requiring you to take critical decisions and bear the weight of their
consequences, such as different access to resources, or available allies... in
the end, your decisions will influence the unfolding of the Gothic War itself.
We are also thrilled to announce the beginning of pre-orders for Battlefleet
Gothic: Armada. In order to reward the commitment of players who will support us
during the pre-order phase, and those who will join the community during the
first couple of months following the game's launch, we decided to offer to these
"early adopters", for free, an additional faction - the Space Marines - which
will be available to play a few weeks after launch. This additional faction will
be playable in battles played in both Multiplayer modes and in skirmish against
the AI. Players who pre-order the game will also receive access to the
Multiplayer Beta, that will start a few weeks before the official launch. Continue here to read the full story.
2K announces the release of Kala, a new support class hunter that's the latest
new content addition to Evolve, the four-versus-one shooter from Turtle
Rock Studios. This is available as an individual purchase, as part of the
Hunting Season 2, or as part of the Evolve: Ultimate Edition, which includes
both Hunting Season 1 and Hunting Season 2.
This
post from last week has details on the character along with
a teaser trailer
showing her in action. Here's the announcement: 2K and Turtle Rock
Studios today announced that Kala, a new Support class Hunter, is now available
for Evolve™, the 4v1 shooter in which four Hunters cooperatively fight to take
down a single-player controlled Monster. This unique new Support character
utilizes abilities similar to those possessed by Evolve’s various Monsters. Kala
is available individually or as part of Hunting Season 2*, which also includes
Gorgon (Monster), Lennox (Assault class), Jack (Trapper class) and Emet (Medic
class).
Dr. Kala Kapur is an expert on Monster biology and has spliced their DNA into
her own genome in order to control the Monsters’ abilities and use them in
battle. Her array of unique abilities include:
- Siren Missiles – an improvement on Kraken
technology, these airborne missiles home in on nearby enemies. When placed
on the ground, they become more powerful, slower moving homing mines;
- Teleport Pads – an improvement on Wraith
technology, these pads allow teammates to move instantaneously from one part
of the map to another;
- Armor Reducer – using Goliath’s armor
technology, the Armor Reducer shoots a beam which temporarily removes the
Monster’s armor. The armor quickly regenerates once the beam connection
breaks.
For complete details on Kala visit the Evolve blog at
http://evolvegame.com.
Additionally, players new to Evolve can obtain all currently available and
announced playable characters, including Kala, as part of the Evolve: Ultimate
Edition. Available now at select North American and Latin American retailers,
the Evolve: Ultimate Edition includes the base game, Monster Expansion Pack,
Hunting Season 1 and Hunting Season 2.

The fact that I'm just getting over the soreness from shoveling show is a little
disturbing to me, as it's a stark reminder I should be in better shape.
Actually, should is the wrong word, as I'm probably in better condition than I
deserve to be considering my level of activity. This has me thinking I should do
something about this, though it's going to take a while to wrap my head around
that thought, since it's hard for me to come to a conclusion of what to do that does not
involve the word "exercise." *shudder*
