Archived News:
There's a quick follow-up to
news of issues
with Five Nights at Freddy's World, as a
Steam Community post from Scott Cawthon announces he's made the decision to
pull the game from sale and offer customers refunds, saying that when it's
fixed, FNaF World will be offered for free: Hi everyone, I wanted to make
a post about the fate of FNaF World. Even though the game had a "Very Positive"
rating with 87%, I was not satisfied with the reviews and ratings it was
getting.
For that reason, I've decided to remove the game from Steam. I've also asked
Valve to make it so that the game can be refunded regardless of the amount of
the time it has been owned, meaning that anyone can get a refund at any time. It
may take them a while to set that up, but it will be in place soon.
I'm still going to work on FNaF World and polish it up. I'm busy creating a
fully 3D overworld for the game. When I'm ready to update the game, I will
replace the demo currently on GameJolt with the full game. From this point
forward, the game will always be free.
I appreciate your support, and I encourage you all to refund your Steam game
(even if you enjoyed the game), and download the new version when it becomes
available on GameJolt. :)

The
StarWarsLeaks subreddit has an unconfirmed rumor of plans for Star Wars:
Imperial Commando, an upcoming first-person shooter that will be a sequel to
Star Wars: Republic Commando. The post is from someone claiming to be working on
an ARG related to this project, offering various details, and saying it will be
released in November 2017 for PCs and consoles. There is nothing more than the
single post from a new account about this, so there's ample reason to be
skeptical. Thanks nin.
Publisher Iceberg Interactive announces Empathy, an action adventure from
indie developer Pixel Night coming to Windows and OS X this September
on Steam. They offer
this trailer with a
look at some of the game's environments. Here's a complete rundown on the game:
Blinking against the light, you step into a world that seems broken
apart, almost dead… Yet there is a pulse, beating faintly in the back of your
mind. What has happened in this place, where the people are gone and their
memories echo in the silence? Where emotions appear as physical things, hanging
in the air, just waiting for someone to reach out…
Empathy is a first-person, action adventure game with a strong focus on
storytelling and exploration. Players will find themselves in a surreal world,
made from people’s emotions and memories, which they can manipulate and explore.
Those lost memories are the key to rebuilding the crumbling world back to its
former state, discovering its mysterious past and halting the impending
apocalypse. Through its innovative narrative mechanics the game will challenge
the player to explore and gain an understanding of the weird world they are
traveling through.
Game Features:
- Discover and explore other peoples’ memories in
order to change the world around you, solve puzzles and access new areas.
- Traverse a strange world and uncover what
triggered the silent apocalypse.
- Follow a narrative as it develops, interwoven with
your exploration.
- Experience the story through multiple first person
perspectives and use your wits to piece the events together.

Kirk voice: KWAAAAAAAAAN! KWAAN is now available for Windows, OS X, and
Linux on Steam, offering
what's described as "part RPG, part online ecosystem and part pixel editor."
This
trailer offers a look at how that works along with the game's throwback
style, and here's more: Created by a renegade team of four digital
tree-huggers from Ankama’s Montreal studio, KWAAN puts players in the
biodegradable shoes of the tiny Dwaal, agents of nature charged with the care of
the planet. As prophesied, one day the giant mutant tree KWAAN appears, changing
everything for the little Dwaals… FOREVER!
KWAAN fuses all kinds of good stuff into one environmentally delicious gaming
package: point-and-click, RPG, 15-player online co-op, pixel art editor, and a
quite excellent grapnel for exploring the many levels on your collective quest
to keep KWAAN happy. But beware - if at midnight each day KWAAN is too sad, the
mighty tree lord will drown the world in tears, with the unfortunate side effect
of crashing the server so you and your Dwaal pals have to start again from
scratch. Continue here to read the full story.
A
Kickstarter update for Mighty No. 9 reveals another delay for this
planned spiritual successor to the Mega Man series (thanks
Videogamer). In September it was
announced we should expect the game next month, but networking issues are
causing a third release delay, and word is to expect the game sometime in the
spring. Developer Keiji Inafune explains the latest setback for the
project: To the fans eagerly awaiting the release of Mighty No. 9,
Unfortunately, we have an announcement that will be very disappointing to all of
you. In preparation for the February release of Mighty No. 9 we have been
working hard with our partners to resolve any network issues and porting work
necessary to publish Mighty No. 9 on the various platforms. However, the issues
relating to the network modes were more critical than expected, and it has
become apparent that we will need to delay the game from its February 9th
release date. We have been working up until the very last moment to resolve
these issues in order to make the February release, but it has become clear that
we no longer have enough time to fix the issues and have everything prepared for
release.
The reason for the delay is rooted in bugs inside the network modes, and
specifically problems with matchmaking. There are two large reasons for this
problem, one of them being the large number of platforms supported (the solution
for each platform is slightly different) and the other stems from the fact that
the engine we are using is no longer being updated which means adjustments for
matchmaking and online code are being made manually (actually reprogramming
parts of the engine by the dev team themselves). Unfortunately, this is all a
result of miscalculations on the part of us, the development staff. As a result,
our fans who have been looking forward to Mighty No. 9 have been forced to wait
for over half a year longer than expected, and for that we are sincerely sorry.
I want to take this chance to apologize personally, and on the behalf of the
development staff.

Five Nights at Freddy's creator Scott Cawthon has
taken to Steam to apologize to fans for the premature release of
FNaF World, the
latest installment in the Five Nights at Freddy's series (thanks
Gamasutra). Though the game's reception so far is quite positive, there are
complaints about missing features, and accusations this is a "lazy" and "broken"
game. And while the series has been quite successful with a rapid-fire release
schedule that's seen the release of five games in 17 months, Cawthon admits this
time he rushed things. The apology includes an outline of plans to address
problems, and since it was first posted has already been updated with word on
new features that have already been added to the game: This isn’t exactly
an announcement that I’m enjoying writing, but it’s one that I feel I owe to the
community.
You know, I’ve been accused of rushing my games ever since FNaF 1, but I’ve
never felt that I’d released a game too early… until now.
There are a lot of features that this game should have had before release,
features that I was told about, but ignored and didn’t implement. Features such
as being able to see what abilities do during battle, or being able to see a
stats page for your characters. These are features that any good RPG would have.
I got too eager to show the things that were finished, that I neglected to pay
attention to the things that weren’t.
I’m going to fix this, and I’ll be updated the game with these features in the
coming weeks.
So I say this to a community that I’ve enjoyed and respected for over a year and
a half now- I’m sorry. I will continue to add features to the game and make it
right.
UPDATE:
Here is a list of the features added to the game since the time of this post,
and there will be more to come.
-Overworld map (press and hold TAB)
-Attack command descriptions
-Byte descriptions (when in Byte store)
-Chip descriptions in the Chips menu
The Sims 4 remains number one on the
GFK Chart-Track PC top 30 chart for the week ending January 23rd where the
top nine games just shuffle a bit. Meanwhile Call of Duty: Black Ops III
stays number one on the
all platforms/all prices chart, and their
summary of the action
notes this is its seventh straight week on the top spot: ‘Call of Duty:
Black Ops III’ (-4%) remains unchallenged at the top of the All Formats Chart
this week. For the ever popular shooter it continues a run of seven straight
weeks at No1 spanning 2015 and 2016.
‘Fifa 16’ (+4%) and ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ (-21%) swap places with EA’s title
moving up to No2 and the latter down to No3. ‘Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6: Siege’
(-10%) also moves up a place to No4 pushing ‘Star Wars Battlefront’ (-20%) down
to No5. New debutants land in the Top 10 this week the first in the form of the
‘Resident Evil Origins Collection’ at No6. The title resurrects the original
classic and prequel title Resident Evil 0 (last seen in 2003 for Nintendo
GameCube) as HD re-masters. The second new release at No7 is ‘Life is Strange’,
which features Square Enix’s critically acclaimed episodic adventure title as a
full physical release. ‘Just Cause 3’ (-15%) makes way for the new arrivals
shifting down to No8 while ‘Fallout 4’ (-18%) is pushed down a place to No9. A
second re-master moves into the Top 10 ‘Dishonoured: Definitive Edition’ (+160%)
climbs to No10 with retailer promotions fuelling the 22 place rise. Outside the
Top 10 ‘The Evil Within’ (+102%) also benefits from similar price promotion,
which propels it from No25 to No16.
Congrats to the Broncos and their fans for winning a thriller to get into the
Super Bowl. And congrats to the Panthers and their fans on obliterating a
quality Cardinals team to earn their berth in the big game. Finally congrats to
Descender for winning our
Playoff
Pool, as unless I am reading things wrong, the Super Bowl will have no
impact on the outcome. He and all the other contenders all selected Carolina,
and as far as I can see, no one picked Denver at all, so that's a done deal.
