Gone Gold - Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition

Techland announces the completion of development of Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition, the upgraded and expanded version of their zombie game. They celebrate the news with the release of a second "highlight" trailer from the game, accompanied by the following word on release plans:

When it launches February 9th, 2016 on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition will bring plenty of additional content and new features. Today Techland released the second video of its Highlight series, in which the developer details three distinct categories of the new in-game challenges, called ‘Bounties’.

“Now that the Enhanced Edition has gone gold, we can focus on telling our fans everything they want to know about the enhancements we’ve made - says Maciej Binkowski, lead game designer. – Today we’re showing Bounties. Basically, these are unique objectives that change every day. So even if you did all the quests, challenges, you always have a reason to jump in, preferably with some friends. Bounties are a great way to bump up your XP, especially for the new Legend Levels which players will unlock once they max out one the base skill trees.”

The Ship: Remasted Next Month

Blazing Griffin announces plans for The Ship: Remasted (it's a pun, not a typo), a modernized version of The Ship, the unusual floating mystery game first released in 2006 after its humble beginnings as a Half-Life 2 modification. This will be coming to Steam via early access on February 15th, and in the meantime, you can keep up with the project on this website, which offers a teaser trailer showing off upgraded HD graphics in an all-singing, all-dancing cinematic. They encourage those interested in the project to participate in the feedback part of early access, and note that loyal owners of the original game can receive a 25% discount on the update. Here's a rundown of some other points of interest:

  • The Ship originally launched in 2006 and has been enjoyed by over 1.6 million players.
  • 2015 was The Ship’s most popular year to date, with over 250k new players.
  • Development started on The Ship: Remasted in early 2015 when the team was joined by several of the original development team.
  • Blazing Griffin recently won a Scottish BAFTA for Distant Star: Revenant Fleet, also launched via Early Access in 2014.
  • The Ship: Remasted will be priced at $20.
  • Remasted isn’t a typo. It’s a pun. A delicious pun.

U.K. Sales Chart

The Sims 4 return to their accustomed spot at number one on the GFK Chart-Track top 30 U.K. PC games sales chart for the week ending January 16th, kicking Football Manager 2016 into the number two spot. On their all platforms top 40 chart, Call of Duty Black Ops III retains the number one spot. Here's their synopsis of the activity:

Two weeks in and 2016 is still being bossed by ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops III’ (-24%) which holds on to No1 for what is now six weeks in succession – the longest unbroken run in the All Formats Chart since ‘FIFA 15’ also managed six weeks in 2014.

‘FIFA 16’ (-45%) slips one place to No3, replaced in second spot by ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ (-16%), which jumps up two places to its highest position since W34 last year. ‘Star Wars Battlefront’ (-45%) drops one place to No4, staying ahead of ‘Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6: Siege’ (-24%) which sneaks up one place to No5. With no new titles out this week, familiar games jostle for position within the Top 10. ‘Just Cause 3’ (-24%) climbs two places to No6, while ‘WWE 2K16’ (-30%) is a non-mover at No7. ‘Fallout 4’ (-65%) drops out of the Top 5 for the first time, falling from No5 to No8, while ‘Lego Jurassic World’ (-21%) and ‘Minecraft: Xbox Edition’ (-17%) both find themselves back in the Top 10, up to No’s 9 and 10 respectively. ‘Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate’ ( -72%) is not so lucky, crashing out of the Top 10 from No9 to No24.
