A new
feature on IGN with a first look at a couple of the characters in
Battleborn, the teamplay shooter in development at Gearbox Software for
release in May. These are Ghalt, "the veteran peacekeeper," a military veteran
described as a "good guy and a good leader," and Deande, "the Jennerit
spymaster," a stealth/deception character. They offer videos for each character
along with details on their backgrounds and play styles, as well as touching on
how they will be unlocked:
"When you get the full retail game, you'll
start with seven characters available, and as you play through the story and
challenges, you'll unlock the rest of the characters pretty quickly," Creative
Director Randy Varnell said, speaking to IGN.
"But Ghalt and Deande, because they are central to the story mission, will
unlock later on in the progression. We want you to encounter them first
interacting with you about the story, then later you get to unlock them and make
them your own. These are characters that are extremely central to the plot of
the game."
A
tweet from last week from Chris Wynn reveals he has parted ways with BioWare
where he had been serving as Senior Development Director on Mass Effect
Andromeda. He says: "It is with heavy heart today to say that I am moving on
from BioWare and Mass Effect: Andromeda, and returning to the USA.
GameInformer contacted BioWare and received an official comment on the
matter that does not shed any light on what happened, but does say development
of the next installment in the action/RPG/shooter series is continuing apace: :
Chris was a great member of the team. We want to thank him for his
contributions and we wish him the best in his new adventures. Development of
Mass Effect Andromeda continues to move full speed ahead at BioWare Montreal,
Edmonton and Austin.
We finally got our first taste of winter here in the greater New York City area,
as overnight sleet and snow rolled in. This has things looking decidedly more
Decembery than before, though it's a bit sloppy for anything like sledding or
skiing. I guess we'll just consider it an El Niño blizzard.
R.I.P.:
Lemmy Kilmister, Motörhead frontman dead at 70. Thanks nin.
