Daedalic Entertainment announces Valhalla Hills has officially left early
access on Steam, missing
the November 19th release date for the Settlers-inspired strategy game
they announced just six
weeks ago. A release
trailer offers a look at the game, and here's word: Today the final
version of Valhalla Hills will be digitally available on Steam and GOG, among
other platforms.
With the official digital release of Valhalla Hills, a new type of adversary,
the mountain dwarves, will also be implemented in the game to give our sturdy
Vikings some more trouble. But the newly available defense towers will give
settlements and edge and help keep villages safe.
During Early Access, the developers received a lot of helpful press and player
feedback and continuously improved Valhalla Hills and the gaming experience it
provides. This cooperation definitely paid off: Valhalla Hills has been
nominated in four categories during the German Developer Awards, among the
nominations are Best German Game and Best Game Design. Continue here to read the full story.
Bohemia Interactive has released a new Nexus Update for
Arma 3, calling this
"an important stepping stone" towards the release of
Arma Apex,
a major expansion coming to the military shooter sequel next year. Word is:
"Highlights of this major new update include the improved and expanded End Game
multiplayer mode, refinements to core game mechanics such as 'stamina' and
'personal protective equipment', as well as the option for Arma 3 content
creators to define 'mod dependencies', which enable the automatic installation
of mods that require other mods on the Steam Workshop."
This announcement has further details and a link to
this trailer showing
off the update. Here's more: First and foremost, the Nexus Update adds
two additional instances to End Game (Feres & Zaros), and improves the
already available Kavala scenario. Each of the three scenarios has a distinct
gameplay focus, ranging from small-scale infantry engagements to more
long-distance (vehicle) warfare, with player counts between 8vs8 up to 16vs16.
Besides the additional and improved End Game scenarios, the Nexus Update adds a
brand new multiplayer system in the form of 'Spectator Cam', which, as the name
implies, allows players to join a lobby as a spectator. The Spectator Cam system
is designed to be modular. This means that, even though it has been purposefully
developed for End Game, it can also be applied to, and modified for,
community-created game modes. Continue here to read the full story.

anticipation of the global release of Point Break, which opens in theaters

The
Pan European Game Information website has a listing for Shadow Complex
Remastered, indicating that a PC edition of Shadow Complex is on the way,
and will carry a PEGI-16 rating due to "realistic looking violence" (thanks
Destructoid). That's all there is for now, so there's no sign of when to
expect a release of revamp of Chair Entertainment's platformer. Since the game
was released in 2009, here's a refresher from
Wikipedia: The
game follows Jason Flemming and his new girlfriend Claire, who opts to explore
some caverns the two stumble across. When she does not respond to his calls,
Jason follows her. He finds a massive underground complex with soldiers and
high-end technology. Jason must rescue Claire and discover the plot behind the
faction operating the complex.
Happy anniversary to Quake III Arena, as id Software's multiplayer first-person
shooter was first released on this date in 1999. Speaking of Quake, happy
birthday Redwood, as the old-school Quake reporter was also first released on
this date, though it was at some undetermined point before that.
