This video captures a
livestream earlier today showing off the Battle of Jakku in
Star Wars
Battlefront, the Force-powered action game.
This page has more details on this battle, and here's word on the live
session: "Among the 40 player set up at Star Wars Battefront [sic] – Battle of Jakku:
Live from London will be Ali-A, Vikkstar123 and JackFrags who will do battle on
two maps set on Jakku as well as the debut of a new mode, Turning Point, a vast
Star Wars Battlefront game mode for 40 players."
This "bring it" trailer
from
Mighty No. 9 shows off gameplay from the upcoming mega-man-inspired
platformer. Word is: "Get ready to prove your might in all of Mighty No. 9's
game modes! Face off against all the Mighties back to back in Boss Rush, test
your 2D side-scrolling skills in the challenge mode, or overcome all the odds in
the one-hit death maniac mode! Team up or face off against a friend online in

This forum thread has posts from owners of laptops with GeForce 860M
graphics cards frustrated over issues with the past few driver releases that
made some games unplayable. A campaign began today to inform sites like ours
about the problem, which was quickly followed by
a post from NVIDIA saying help is on the way: "Just a quick update. We
believe we have identified the root cause and are in the process of creating a
hotfix driver. As soon as the hotfix driver is available for download, we will
make an announcement on this forum." Thanks Joshua.
The
Pan European Game Information website now has a listing for a PC edition of
FINAL FANTASY VI, the VIth installment in the role-playing series that's
never been as final as its titles suggest (thanks
Blend Games). The listing is new of last Thursday, and offers a PEGI
12 rating for the game, which was originally released SNES in 1994. Here's a
description of the game from
Wikipedia:
Final Fantasy VI (ファイナルファンタジーVI Fainaru Fantajī Shikkusu?, also known as
Final Fantasy III for the US-SNES version) is a role-playing video game
developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) for the Super Nintendo
Entertainment System (SNES) platform. Released in 1994, it is the sixth title in
the mainline Final Fantasy series. Set in a fantasy world with a technology
level equivalent to that of the Second Industrial Revolution, the game's story
focuses on a group of rebels as they seek to overthrow an imperial dictatorship.
The game features fourteen permanent playable characters, the most of any game
in the main series.
AMD's
new reference drivers are
presumably not named "Crimson" because they make cards red hot, but there are
lots of users reporting overheating problems using them. There are even some
saying this has killed their GPUs outright, as shown in
this reddit thread, which says the drivers are locking fan speeds on some
systems at 20% of maximum. A
tweet from AMD
acknowledges the issue, saying a hotfix is coming today: "We are aware of low
fan speed reports on select GPUs with Radeon Software Crimson Edition. We intend
to publish a hotfix on Monday." In the meantime,
this reddit post (thanks
Softpedia) offers a workaround on how to perk up your fans. Thanks

A
Steam Community Group Announcement tells us to expect a free update tomorrow
for
Rocket League
to add new Portal-themed content to the hard-driving racing game (thanks
MCV). This does not involve any of the signature portals from Valve's puzzle
series, but will offer the chance to pick up a number of cosmetic items, and
apparently the cake sticker is no lie. Here's word:
Yes, dear friends, in
an amazing display of professional badassery, the fantastic folks at Valve
Software have given Rocket League players one of the coolest things they'll ever
see in our game -- officially-licensed Portal customization items that are
absolutely FREE!
Obtainable by playing a full game of Rocket League, the official Portal items
are potentially rewarded at the end of every match, win or lose. All you have to
do is keep playing until the match ends and your chance to earn a new
Aperture-themed goodie of your very own.
What kind of Aperture-themed goodies, you ask? These ones!
- Cake (Topper)
- Conversion Gel (Rocket Trail)
- Propulsion Gel (Rocket Trail)
- Repulsion Gel (Rocket Trail)
- Aperture Laboratories (Antenna)
- Cake Sticker (Antenna)
- Companion Cube (Antenna)
- Personality Core (Antenna)
- PotatOS (Antenna)
- Pretty awesome aren't they? You can start getting
yours, FOR FREE, December 1
Happy Cyber Monday. Because that's totally a thing, right? Actually I noticed
PayPal was completely unresponsive for a while this morning, so maybe it is a
thing after all. At least nobody is going to get trampled sitting at their
web-browser. At least one would hope.
