Just Cause 3 is not due for official release until Tuesday, but
apparently copies of the game are available early in some regions, and are
already in the hands of eager customers (thanks
GameWatcher). Rather than try to lock these users out, publisher Square Enix
and developer Avalanche Studios are looking to support them, noting that the
release version will benefit from some tweaks and bug fixes. They are
accelerating their plans for a day one patch, which will now be something like a
day minus four patch, and this should be out soon if not already. Here's the
explanation from
a
blog post on the topic:
Hi everyone,
We’re aware of the fact that in some territories, Just Cause 3 is available
ahead of its official release, which means many of you are enjoying Rico’s
latest adventure early.
While we’re glad you’re getting familiar with Medici before Tuesday, this does
mean that you’re playing the unpatched version of the game, and a host of fixes
and improvements will be available within the next 24 hours.
Please keep an eye out for the update on PS4, Xbox One and PC this weekend!

Origin's On
the House program now offers
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 and the
Yuri's Revenge expansion for the classic real-time strategy sequel as
free downloads (thanks
PC Invasion).
The only requirement is a free Origin account to get them during this offer and
they will be yours to keep. Here's the description of the game, in case you
don't recall it from when it was released in 2000:
The world erupts in
conflict as Soviet forces invade American soil in Command & Conquer: Red Alert
2. Time travel has helped to eliminate the German threat, and now the Soviets
are expanding into the West unchecked. You are the Supreme Commander. Arm
yourself to the teeth with top-secret technologies and lead the Soviet or Allied
troops to victory.
Plus, defeat an army of mind-controlled Soviet forces in the expansion Command &
Conquer: Yuri's Revenge.
It's been a fine old Thanksgiving weekend, but it still isn't going to feel
complete until I can sit down and watch
Babes in Toyland/
March of the
Wooden Soldiers. This was a staple on TV for the occasion throughout my
childhood, and it never fails to make me feel like a kid again. "Upset? I'm
housebroken!"
