of open beta testing in Rainbow Six: Siege. They offer a brief FAQ
detailing the matchmaking issue they are fixing on all three platforms, and in
the meantime, the closed beta continues on. Here's the latest update on where
things stand: As communicated with you today, we have performed a
maintenance on XB1, PS4 and PC this afternoon. Some platforms are still under
maintenance but we are working to complete them as quickly as we can. We will be
monitoring how the fixes impact the game experience throughout the night. We
will give you another update tomorrow at 10AM EST. In the meantime, our Closed
Beta continues. Please give us your feedback now that the update has happened
and tell us how the experience is for you. Thank you for your patience and
cooperation.
The
Counter-Strike blog announces that Valve is preparing to introduce a new way
to safeguard your inventory items in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
called Trade Hold. This will allow players a 72 hour period to review and
approve trades to help stave off any shenanigans with their account in the
multiplayer shooter without the use of a mobile authenticator. Here's word:
On December 9th, Steam will be introducing Trade Holds, a new trade
feature that will let you ensure that your hard-earned items are protected. If
you are unable to protect your account with a Mobile Authenticator, whenever you
accept a trade, Steam will hold on to your items for up to three days to give
you time to review the transaction.
Everything looking great? If both parties have had the Steam Guard Mobile
Authenticator for at least a week, you can speed things up! Simply confirm the
trade in the Steam Guard Mobile
Authenticator and the trade will complete immediately.
Something not looking right? You can abort all outstanding trades on hold and
prevent new unwanted trades from your account for a week.
A new trailer shows
off the campaign map from Total War: WARHAMMER, in a cinematic clip using
the game engine from the upcoming fantasy-themed strategy game (Creative
Assembly offers a
forum post explaining their use of the terms "in-engine" and "gameplay" for
such trailers). They promise a
full campaign walkthrough next week, and in the meantime, here's word on the
current clip: "This epic in-engine cinematic trailer will take you on a
fly-through of that campaign map for the first time, hinting at the shear range
of cities and terrain you can aspire to conquer– from the Badlands in the South
to the Chaos Wastes in the North. With an uncontrollable thirst for battle, the Greenskin Legendary Lord has never gone more than two days without a fight,
crushing entire settlements to sate a desire for the spilled blood of his
enemies." Continue here to read the full story.
This new video offers
the first look at gameplay from Escape from Tarkov, the upcoming online
shooter from Russian developer Battlestate Games. Word is this is shot on a
pre-alpha build of the game, using its internal replay system. They are
accepting beta applications on the
Escape From Tarkov website, and offer this description to go along with the
clip: Two private military companies, USEC and BEAR, clashed in conflict
on the streets of a Russian city, forcing the local civilian population to flee.
However, anarchy and lawlessness stroke a chord with some people, who are now
called Savages around these parts. They flock into packs and fight for
territories and resources on par with professional soldiers.
Shots and screams are incessant sounds hanging in the air, and tossed grenades
are referred to as a "present". Harsh reality is abound in the game - one hit,
and your character may be killed right away or bleed to death.

Techland announces that starting December 8th they will be increasing the price
of a Season Pass for Dying Light to $29.99, since the imminent
The Following
expansion for the zombie game has turned out to be larger than they planned.
Until then they will honor their previously announced price of $19.99, and want
to give ample advance warning about the planned hike. Here's word: Due to
the increased scale of the project, we needed to revise the pricing that we
announced back in August, and so we want to let you know that Dying Light: The
Following will be priced at $19,99.
As promised back in August, our expansion will still be free for all Dying Light
Season Pass holders. However since the Season Pass will now include this
bigger-than-anticipated addition, we needed to adjust the price accordingly.
Starting December 8th 2015, the Season Pass will be sold at $29,99. We didn’t
want this to come as a surprise to you, so we’re announcing it in advance. This
price change will not affect players who already own the Season Pass.
So if you're looking forward to Dying Light: The Following, you still have time
to get the whole Season Pass package, including the expansion at only $19,99.
Just remember to do it before Dec 8th.
A Jet Racing Extreme demo for Windows, OS X, and Linux is now available
on Steam, offering the
chance to get in touch with your inner Wile E. Coyote by strapping a couple of
jet engines to a car and launching yourself through the desert (thanks Frans).
They describe this as an "eXtreme simulator." Here's more: "Get behind the wheel
of a very powerful jet-powered vehicle and blast off! Try yourself in an
incredibly difficult, realistic and extremal racing. Only the aces will be able
to reach the finish line, the others will be disintegrated! We challenge you!"
A
post to Cliffski's Blog discusses why Positech has moved on from supporting
Gratuitous Space Battles 2, their space strategy sequel, hoping that some
who are angry about this will be more understanding if he explains the
situation. He admits the game "failed," and says this is in part due to strong
competition in the genre around the time it was released, but expresses pride in
how it turned out. He offers some numbers on how much income the game has
generated versus the expenses of developing and supporting it, estimating the
project has earned him approximately $12.74 an hour for his efforts, and while
he says the game "will continue to earn some money in the long run on steam,"
this will not rescue it from being a "relative flop." The point of the post
seems to be to scold those who are mad at him for no longer continuing to
support the game at this point, saying his company is doing fine, but: "I just
know many devs feel this way but are too scared to say so, I’m doing their
venting for them."
Codemasters has closed down their Malta-based studio behind
Battle Decks, a
mobile strategy game. They issued a statement about this to
Eurogamer explaining that going forward they are going to concentrate on
their core competence of creating racing games: While it's been great to
explore projects outside of racing, we know that our hearts belong to racing in
all its many glorious forms. The success of DiRT Rally's Early Access programme
has been incredible, F1 2015 was very successful reaching number one in many
territories, we've recently announced that Micro Machines will come to mobile
and we have a strong road map ahead of us that keeps racing as its razor focus.
With Battle Decks' development complete, we're saying goodbye to Malta and
looking to fold talent from its 11-person team into our most successful studios
here in the UK as we double-down on racing to develop future titles that will
demonstrate our absolute commitment to the category.
